Paltrow talks about her divorce in an interview at the BlogHer15 conference in New York:
We’ve gone through really difficult times with it, but we’ve always said these children are our priority, so what that means is, even though today you hate me and never wanna see me again, we’re going to brunch because it’s Sunday and that’s what we do…Unfortunately, even though we couldn’t stay in a romantic relationship, our values are very much around the importance of family and those relationships.

Martin and Paltrow finalize their divorce. They have been using their business managers to reach a settlement agreement involving both property and custody. It is expected they will cite “irreconcilable differences” and will file for joint custody of their children.
Paltrow writes that her perspective on hunger is forever changed after trying to live on $29 worth of SNAP benefits (food stamps) for a week. She grades her effort with a C-.
As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice). My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even for just a few days—a challenge that 47 million Americans face every day, week, and year. A few takeaways from the week were that vegetarian staples liked dried beans and rice go a long way—and we were able to come up with a few recipes on a super tight budget.
Paltrow says she is similar to other women since she is a woman and a mother.
I am incredibly close to the common woman in that I am a woman and I’m a mother and we all are in a physical body with beating hearts with compassion and love. We are all seekers. We all want questions. We all want, we all want fulfillment. We want to live our best lives. We want to be healthy and happy and to squeeze the most that we can out of life. I think that’s all women.
On whether she is a ‘lifestyle guru’:
I see myself as an actor, a mother and an entrepreneur. I don’t see myself as a guru at all…I’m not a guru because I feel I’m the one asking the questions.

Paltrow appears on the cover of Marie Claire. Paltrow discusses her split from estranged husband Chris Martin.
There was nothing dramatic or anything. I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn’t do it anymore, and I really had the sense that I wasn’t allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall.
Paltrow appears on the cover of the February 2015 issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine. She talks about her life in LA, women criticizing other women and woman’s rights.
I think we are a generation of women who are different in a lot of respects, and some of us want to be ambitious, and for it not to be a dirty word. We want to be feminine and soft, we want to be maternal, we want to be sexual, we want to be explorers – and we can be a combination of all of these archetypes. You can be powerful, but you can also be vulnerable… (I have) learnt the power of kindness and the importance of nonjudgemental ways of looking at others.

Actress and Goop Magazine owner, Paltrow responds to Stewart’s Conscious Coupling recipe with her own recipe targeted to Stewart called Jailbird Cake. ETOnline baker:
Jailbird Cake was maybe one of the easiest things I’ve ever not baked. All you have to do is whip some cream, buy some chocolate wafers and assemble. I did, however, notice that the recipe on the back of the Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers was the exact same as Goop’s. This disappointed me and I had to make a conscious decision to uncouple from that fact.
Celebrity chef and crafter, Stewart publishes a Conscious Coupling pie recipe in her November issue of Martha Stewart Living, mocking Paltrow’s conscious uncoupling with ex husband Chris Martin. ETonline bakers:
Ultimately the pie tasted delicious, but the phyllo dough that made such a pretty presentation was a crumbly nightmare to serve.

Paltrow is called a role model for other female celebrities in an article in The New York Times. The article discusses Paltrow’s Goop shopping website and how it inspired other female celebrities to start their own.
The other day Drew Barrymore and I were talking, and she said, ‘Thank you for going first and getting all the scratches.’ People like to classify you, and when you start pushing out of your box it makes them nervous. There’s a lot of resistance to women coming to the table with anything new. But if it were Justin Timberlake or Jay Z or even Donald Trump, everyone would be like, ‘OK’.
The article says that Juliet de Baubigny suggested Paltrow turn Goop into a business, introducing her to her first chief executive, Seb Bishop.

Paltrow hosts a fundraiser for President Obama in the backyard of her Brentwood mansion. After congratulating the president for endorsing equal pay for women, an issue she said is “very important to me as a working mother,” she compliments the President:
Paltrow responds to Stewart’s comments that she should concentrate more on acting and less on her lifestyle brand GOOP at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in Dana Point, California.
I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. I think that when anybody criticizes anyone, it really is revealing more about where they are in time and space as opposed to where you are in time and space. … Sometimes I learn good things from criticism.
