Pally admits mistakes
In response to charges of conflict of interest in Schweizer’s forthcoming book Clinton Cash, the Clinton Foundation admits that it made “mistakes” as the philanthropy grew but maintains that it did not intentionally do anything wrong.
Yes, we made mistakes, as many organizations of our size do, but we are acting quickly to remedy them, and have taken steps to ensure they don’t happen in the future.
Schweizer says that he did not have “direct evidence” of ethical misconduct, but says the pattern he uncovered should raise eyebrows and trigger an investigation.
Cites donor transparency
The Clinton Foundation says its disclosure of foreign donations is “stronger than ever.” Acting CEO Pally says the foundation will only accept donations from “a handful of governments.”
When Hillary Clinton was appointed Secretary of State, we took unprecedented steps to avoid potential conflicts of interest by going above and beyond what is required of any philanthropy and instituted voluntary annual disclosure of all donors on our website.
Pally also pushes back at specific criticism of donations linked to Giustra and a charity he established. Pally stresses that the charity is independent, and that Giustra established it in Canada so that Canadians could receive a tax credit for their donations to support the Clinton Foundation.
But as it is a distinct Canadian organization, separate from the Clinton Foundation, its individual donors are not listed on the site. This is hardly an effort on our part to avoid transparency — unlike in the U.S., under Canadian law, all charities are prohibited from disclosing individual donors without prior permission from each donor.
Wants Supreme Court to favor gay marriage
Clinton wants the Supreme Court to rule in favor of legitimizing same-sex marriage to establish full equality for gay couples on a national basis. Spokesperson:
Hillary Clinton supports marriage equality and hopes the Supreme Court will come down on the side of same-sex couples being guaranteed that constitutional right.
Runs for President
Clinton announces she will run for President in 2016, in a video called Getting Started. The video features a group of Americans talking about preparing for different life events.
I’m getting ready to do something too. I’m running for president. Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times. But the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top. Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion. So you can do more than just get by, you can get ahead and stay ahead. Because when families are strong, America is strong. So I’m hitting the road to earn your vote. Because it’s your time, and I hope you’ll join us on this journey.
Clinton ‘would be an excellent president’
During a press conference in Panama at the Summit of the Americas, Obama talks about Clinton as next President:
She was a formidable candidate in 2008, she was a great supporter of mine in the general election, she was an outstanding secretary of state, she is my friend, I think she would be an excellent president.
Asked whether he hopes she campaigns on his record:
I’m not on the ballot. So I’m not going to step on her lines. When she makes a decision to announce, I’m confident that she will be very clear about her vision for the country.

Gowdy claims that Clinton wiped her email server clean and refuses to turn it over to an independent third party for investigation.
Not only was the secretary the sole arbiter of what was a public record, she also summarily decided to delete all emails from her server ensuring no one could check behind her analysis in the public interest.
‘We have a fun deficit in America’
Clinton talks about having sleepaway camps for adults and more relationship-building in Washington, at the American Camp Association of New York and New Jersey’s Tri-State CAMP Conference.
We really need camps for adults. None of the serious stuff … I think we have a fun deficit in America…If you don’t build relationships with people and all you do is show up to argue or show up to point fingers, you can’t get anything done.
Sues to force release of emails
The Associated Press files a lawsuit against the U.S. State Department to force the release of email correspondence and government documents from Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. The AP’s FOIA requests–and their lawsuit–are trying to uncover materials related to Clinton’s public and private calendars; correspondence with aides, especially the documents related to the decision to grant a longtime aide a special position within the department; and emails concerning the Osama bin Laden raid and National Security Agency surveillance practices.
After careful deliberation and exhausting our other options, The Associated Press is taking the necessary legal steps to gain access to these important documents, which will shed light on actions by the State Department and former Secretary Clinton, a presumptive 2016 presidential candidate, during some of the most significant issues of our time.
Defends private email use
In a press conference Clinton says she used a private e-mail account to conduct State Department business for “convenience”. She says she has released more than 27,500 emails (from a total of 62,320) that involved official government e-mail addresses, such as those addressed to .gov addresses, names of government officials and Clinton’s staff, but also for terms including “Benghazi” and “Libya.” 31,830 e-mails were deemed personal and deleted. She said she did not discuss classified information on her personal e-mail.
I opted for convenience to use my personal email account, which was allowed by the State Department, because I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two…Looking back it would have been better to use separate phones and two separate e-mail accounts. I thought one (mobile) device would be simpler. Obviously, it hasn’t worked out that way…I have no doubt we have done exactly what we should have done.
Clinton said she “chose not to keep” personal e-mails:
No one wants their personal e-mails made public and I think most people understand that and respect that privacy.
When asked about the impact of the controversy on whether she will run for President:
I trust the American people to make their decisions about political and public matters and I feel that I’ve taken unprecedented steps to provide these work-related emails, they’re going to be in the public domain, and Americans will find that interesting and I look forward to having that discussion.
‘I want the public to see my email’
0 CommentsClinton breaks her silence over the use of her personal email account as Secretary of State.
I want the public to see my email. I asked State to release them. They said they will review them for release as soon as possible.

‘Exquisite taste elevated American fashion’
The Clintons make a joint statement regarding the death of de la Renta.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Oscar de la Renta. His singular talent and exquisite taste elevated American fashion, and his warmth and friendship will be missed by our family and all whose lives he touched in his extraordinary journey. We will always be grateful to Oscar for the love he showed us, and for sharing his talent on some of the most important occasions of our lives.
‘Interventionism created ISIS’
Paul criticizes Clinton’s foreign policy in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, saying that interventionism led to the rise of ISIS:
To interventionists like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, we would caution that arming the Islamic rebels in Syria created a haven for the Islamic State. We are lucky Mrs. Clinton didn’t get her way and the Obama administration did not bring about regime change in Syria. That new regime might well be ISIS.
He adds:
[…] Those who say we should have done more to arm the Syrian rebel groups have it backward. This is not to say the U.S. should ally with Assad. But we should recognize how regime change in Syria could have helped and emboldened the Islamic State, and recognize that those now calling for war against ISIS are still calling for arms to factions allied with ISIS in the Syrian civil war.
Putin ‘responsible for MH17 crash’
Clinton says that Vladimir Putin bears responsibility for the crash of Malaysian Airline flight MH17.
I think if there were any doubt it should be gone by now, that Vladimir Putin, certainly indirectly — through his support of the insurgents in eastern Ukraine and the supply of advanced weapons and, frankly, the presence of Russian Special Forces and intelligence agents — bears responsibility for what happened.
Hillary Clinton interview
Stewart interviews Hillary Clinton in promotion of her upcoming book. During the interview, Stewart attempts to get Clinton to make the big announcement of her presidential candidacy on his show. Clinton:
You kind of spoiled it, so I have to reconsider where I go do it.
Book slips from #1 spot
Clinton’s book, Hard Choices, is knocked out of its number one spot on the bestseller’s list by Edward Klein’s Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. the Obamas. Klein’s book is about tensions between Bill and Hillary Clinton and the Obamas. Hard Choices still leads the list in Hardcover Nonfiction, but trails when print and e-books are combined. Nielsen Bookscan figures show Carson has sold 162,000 books, while Clinton has sold 177,000.
Confuses Britain’s political parties
While being interviewed by the BBC, Clinton confuses Britain’s political parties, thus incorrectly slating them as rivals. Asked by the host what she thought of the special relationship between the US and Britain, Clinton replies:
There’s not just a common language, but a common set of values that we can fall back on. It doesn’t matter in our country whether it’s a Republican or a Democrat or frankly, in your country, whether it’s a Conservative or a Tory. There is a level of trust and understanding. That doesn’t mean we always agree because, of course, we don’t.
“Tory” is another name for the Conservative Party in Britain.
Wealth comments apology
During a PBS interview with Gwen Ifill of PBS Newshour, Clinton apologizes for her recent comments concerning her wealth. Clinton tells
I shouldn’t have said the five or so words that I said, but my inartful use of those few words doesn’t change who I am.
Clinton also told Ifill that you’ve got to be:
a little crazy to run for president.
Students upset over speaking fee
0 CommentsUniversity of Nevada students do not support Hillary’s $225,000 compensation for her upcoming October visit. In light of the school’s new tuition raise plans, students are upset with the large expense. Although the University says private funds will pay Hillary, some students feel as if the money could go towards tuition decreases. The undergraduate student body president comments that the University is trying to improve its offerings despite it negatively affecting current students. The event will be invitation only for philanthropists and investors who support the University, with various fees from $200 to $20,000. The Bill, Hillary, & Chelsea Clinton Foundation confirms the fall speech, however the Clinton team says the money will not go towards their own foundation.
Defends ‘broke’ comment
Bill defends Hillary after she receives negativity for her comments about their financial situation. He corroborates Hillary’s comment that they were broke after leaving the White House and says that she is “not out of touch.” He says that Hillary is an advocate for the working class and that they even shop at the local grocery store and talk with the townfolk. Bill also criticizes that reporters have taken Hillary’s charity work out of context, and shares the story of Hillary offering free legal services and advocating for paid leave for pregnant women. He comments:
You just have to be transparent and tell the truth
