ALS Association reports the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over $15.6 million from July 29, 2014 to August 18, 2014. The challenge, designed to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is very popular on social networking sites, and is especially popular with celebrities, athletes and others. The figures confirm that not only are people taking part in the challenge, but they are also donating money to the cause. The ALS Association also says that the donations have come from existing donors and from 307,598 new donors.
