Kate Beckinsale interview

Seacrest interviews Beckinsale during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about doing love scenes with other men in front of her husband.

I’ve actually done worse things in front of my husband in other movies, so this sort of thing really, you don’t make a big deal, but I think it can seem worse to the third party apparently. I think when you’re doing jobs that you’re very passionate about, it’s not like you’re coming home and discussing spreadsheets and the other one’s not interested. Do you know what I mean? It’s like we’re both very interested in the movie and in movies in general. And I’m glad I’ve got him back. Now he’s finished editing the movie and it’s nice to talk about other things too.

Total Recall

Film Appearance

Beckinsale plays Lori Quaid in the 2012 remake of Total Recall, alongside actor Colin Farrell, who plays her husband, Douglas Quaid. The film takes place in the future, in a world that is mostly uninhabitable. To escape the hardships of his life, Douglas decides to experience “Rekall,” a process in which any memory can be implanted into one’s head. Shortly after plugging into Rekall, Quaid finds himself in the middle of a worldwide conspiracy where nobody can be trusted. Not even his wife. On her role as Lori:

She’s just a little bit off. She’s come back damaged and wounded and acting out of that place, so it’s fun for an actor.

td9e4224rfzj9d4zBeckinsale appears on the cover of the August 2012 issue of Allure magazine. She talks about not feeling attractive as a kid and being Sexiest Woman Alive in 2009.

I think the risk of being the sexiest woman alive is that you don’t want to ever have sex again. You don’t want to wear a bikini again. You want to wear some nice overalls and a trucker’s hat. Anyway, you’re only that for a year, and then you’re done. You’re old news. I don’t know who it is right now, but it’s not me.

Humans have since discovered the existence of Lycans and vampires, and killed most of them. Selene and a few survivors are all that are left. On the role of Selene:

It was a very life changing role for me personally as well, so I feel very affectionate towards it. And it’s exciting to be able to follow a character for such a long period of time. It’s rare to get that chance.

Kate Beckinsale interview

Beckinsale guests on Conan to promote her film Underworld: Awakening. She also talks about her struggles in fake-driving, her experience co-presenting with Seth Rogen and her family’s dirty humor.

We have a tradition in your family even now, and whenever I visit my mother’s house, I always have to leave a banana and two apples, or whatever fruit she has and just rearrange her fruit bowl. Just so that she thinks of me when I’m gone.

Repaying the debt before time runs out gives Chris no other option but to try and run contraband across U.S. borders.

Well I’ve been a big fan of Mark Wahlberg for a really long time and I was really excited to work with him. I’ve never played a character quite like that before.

With an impending storm and months of darkness setting in, the marshal is in a chilling race against time to find the killer.

I have been surprised by the fact that I’m able to do these kind of roles, because it’s not how I’m really like in real life. And it certainly wasn’t what I ever anticipated when I decided to become an actress.

Film Appearance

Beckinsale plays Donna Newman, the wife of ambitious architect Michael Newman, played by Adam Sandler. In this comedy-drama film, Donna is the backbone of the Newman family, as a lost and confused Michael learns the most important lessons in life.

It’s a bit change of pace. I didn’t kill anybody in this movie and I don’t have any magical powers as such. But it’s a comedy, it’s funny, and you care about the characters very, very much.

With a living person you have to get it right, as opposed to creating something from scratch. So it was a bit of a lump in the throat…

I just had to jump off a wheel barrel into a crash-mat and I completely got whiplash… It made me really gun-shy actually. But then the next day I was 60 feet upside-down in a tree.

I feel really lucky that I’ve been able to move around so much and change what I’m doing.

Film Appearance

Beckinsale plays Sara Thomas in the romantic comedy Serendipity opposite actor John Cusack. The story revolves around Sara’s strong belief in love and destiny. Throughout the movie, Sara conducts many tests of fate to see if she and Jonathan are really “meant to be.”

They saved all the kissing scenes up at the end of Pearl Harbor and the Serendipity ones were right at the beginning, so I was literally going from one man to the next.

Beckinsale stars as Lieutenant Evelyn Johnson in the 2001 romantic drama Pearl Harbor. Lt. Johnson is a nurse who is caught in a love triangle between two American fighter pilots played by Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett. The film is directed by Michael Bay and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

I really didn’t know the details of Pearl Harbor, and I think that there is extraordinary poetry to a loss of innocence like that.
