Daily Beast Interview
Rousey talks about breaking her previous 16-second record:
I didn’t think I could break it. I had a bet going with my coach and said, ‘There’s no way anyone is going to break 16 seconds,’ and he said, ‘No, you’re totally going to break your own record.’ We bet $10,000 on it, and the very next fight I beat it by two seconds. I owe my coach $10,000 now… I screwed myself over on that one!
On Eminem:
I have to keep in mind who would sue me before I get into any kind of confrontation with anyone. That’s why I spend all my time at the gym and never go to the club. If I went to the club and got in a confrontation with someone, that would cost me all kinds of money.
And Laila Ali’s offer of a future match:
If she wants to take me up on that, I’m around. She’s retired and has several kids. I understand why she’d think that because she has a size advantage, but if you saw my last fight it had nothing to do with size or strength at all. That’s not how I beat people. So you can’t count having a size and strength advantage as having a real advantage against me.
Fox Sports 1 interview
Punk appears on Fox Sports 1 to discuss coming to UFC and if he feels he deserves to work for the company.
I’m not really going to say that I do deserve it. I think time will tell if I deserve it or not. Respect has to be earned, not given. I very much understand that, and I understand the perspective of a lot of the fighters. Some of them are just trying to jump on the bandwagon too, you know, like call names and pick fights. That’s the fight game, I appreciate that. I just roll with the punches. I’ll take all the positive stuff and leave all the negative stuff behind.
Rolling Stone interview
Punk talks to Rolling Stone magazine about his new career and his wife’s reaction to his UFC signing.
Trust me, whatever nerves I’m gonna have stepping into the Octagon will pale in comparison to the nerves I had when I had to bring this up to my wife. I was honestly terrified. I was like, ‘She’s gonna shut it down, and I’m gonna have to figure out a way to smooth it over so I can do this, because I don’t take no for an answer, she doesn’t take no for an answer, and this is something I really wanna do.’ Right off the bat she recognized that. She’s been around me long enough to know that, ever since the first day I met her, this is something I talked about doing, and she’s not somebody that’s gonna step in front of her husband trying to accomplish something that he dreamed about.
MMAMania interview
Sonnen talks to MMAMania about CM Punk’s upcoming UFC debut and teases that he knows who his first opponent will be.
Well, he is not a bottom-tier guy, I can tell you that. You will know who he is and he will be a pretty-heavy favorite to win. Punk is not going to come in as the favorite.
Ufc Fight Night Interview
Tate speaks about the fight with Rim Nakai, the first high-profile female fight in Japan:
I think Japan has a great history of fighters and their pride in their fights and its a big part of their culture.
Talks TNA return
Jackson talks TNA in sit-down interview with The Fight Nerd. Jackson reports he has no interest in returning to TNA wrestling and says that he does have interest in professional wrestling still and is making plans with Chavo Guerrero Jr.
As soon as I went there and saw how they ran things and what they were doing, there were no plans for me to go back
Comments on Lesnar UFC return
Heyman sits down with The MMA Hour to discuss Lesnar’s possible UFC return. Heyman declines rumors and claims Lesnar is currently happy with WWE.
I think he’s very, very happy right now with what we’re doing in WWE, It’s not a subject he has to think about. If the deal ends up over in WWE, if a change of circumstances happens, and if it’s a no-brainer to get him back into the cage, I’m sure it’s something he’d consider. Right now, it’s not a topic of conversation. Why would you mess up the WWE deal?
