Frankly, I think the ABBA factor was the thing that got people excited, as well as the presence of people like Meryl and Pierce. But I think if you live on Skopelos and you haven’t seen Mamma Mia you’ll probably still know all the songs. So, I think people were extremely happy about the film being there.

I realised very soon that we were in this type of boot camp with platforms for what felt like weeks and weeks and weeks doing just one song, Voulez-Vous. There are some absolutely bizarre steps to that.

I’m pretty tried-and-tested in the world of ‘suit acting, so I’m thrilled to be able to tackle something like this. I’m excited to see what will happen next. Really, at this stage in my career, I’m happy to still be at the table.

It was pretty simple for me to just be excited, and that’s the character I play. She’s just enthusiastic about life, and I was so enthusiastic about filming that I didn’t really have to go anyplace to get the right attitude. It was a very rare experience—Greece and Meryl and Pierce and dancing and singing, sharing something that is so private for me.

I just want to do things that are valuable to introduce into the culture. This film is a valuable thing. I knew it when I saw it.
Hancock
Columbia Pictures presents Hancock, starring Will Smith as a drunken, amnesiac superhero. It centers around him trying to change his bad image. In the process, he meets another person with superhero powers, who is paired with him, and they are the last of their kind.
There’s a natural narcotic my brain must pump, because negativity doesn’t last. It’s strange to play a guy like Hancock, who can’t find something to feel good about. That’s the opposite of who I am

Wanted
Jolie stars in the action movie Wanted, playing an assassin ready to stop anyone that gets in her way. Her character hates that people are killing for no reason but her only job in life is to kill. Jolie. Co-starring Morgan Freeman, James Mcvoy, Konstantin Khabensky.
Maybe this is Mrs. Smith after she killed Mr. Smith, went into depression, and got very, very, very moody. Fox is not happy, and she’s not easy to be around. She was interesting to me because she isn’t the love interest and she isn’t having fun with it like the Tomb Raider. She’s darker.
Kung Fu Panda
Jolie stars in the animated movie Kung Fu Panda. This movie tells a tale of a giant panda named Po who idoizes the Furious Five. After learning that the Viper, Crane, Monkey, Tigress, and Mantis is being trained by Shifu, Po decides he wants to become a kung fu master himself. Other cast members include Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, and Lucy Liu.
I just look for, whether it be any project, something that I find about a character that I admire, that I like, that I think sends, you know, a good message, or something that’s got some strength to it. So I loved that in a film like this, that I knew my children would see, and my daughters would see, that the boys would think it was really cool and love the whole movie but that also my daughters would, of course, have a good role model as a girl.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Brand stars in this American romantic comedy film about a music composer, played by Jason Segel, who loses his celebrity girlfriend, played by Kristen Bell. The comedian plays an eccentric and free-spirited rock star named Aldous Snow, with whom Bell’s character cheats and has a fleeting relationship. Directed by Nicholas Stoller, the film also stars Mila Kunis, Jonah Hill, and Paul Rudd.
I think it’s a really brilliant film. Jason Segel is a brilliant writer and brilliant performer, and Kristen Bell is a great comic actress. Mila Kunis is like, stunning. People like Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill, people who have appeared in other Judd Apatow films, and Jack McBrayer who’s a brilliant comic actor. It’s a properly entertaining film, I really like it. I’m really proud to have been in it, I think it’s fantastic.
Stop-Loss
Gordon-Levitt plays an American war soldier in this Kimberly Peirce-directed drama film. He plays PFC Tommy Burgess, a troubled young soldier who witnesses the death of his best friend during the war, and has a difficult time adjusting to civilian life when he comes home. Other members of his squad are played by Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, and Timothy Olyphant.
Tommy, the character I play, is a real good soldier and not so good when he gets back. Life is so different, all the things that you need to focus on and care about when you’re over there, are just not things you need to focus and care about when you’re back here.
Meet The Browns
Bassett plays Brenda, a mother of three who lost her job unexpectedly in the movie Meet The Browns. Brenda receives a letter out of the blue, explaining that her father died and he left some property to her in his will. After traveling to Atlanta, she meets family she never knew anything about. After the will is read, Brenda realizes her father left her and her children a house that needs major work.
It was great, even though there were some long, hot days in Atlanta. But, they weren’t long enough.
Death Defying Acts
Zeta-Jones plays Mary McGarvie in the romantic thriller Death Defying Acts. Harry Houdini is the most famous escape artist of his time. During his Britain tour of 1876, the illusionist meets psychic Mary McGarvie. As Houdini falls for McGarvie, the psychic and her daughter see an opportunity to con the illusionist, take his money and run. Co-starring Guy Pearce and Saoirse Ronan. On co-star Guy Pearce:
Guy had the harder job of actually needing to know all these facts about Houdini, and goodness knows he did a fantastic job.
Semi-Pro
Ferrell stars in this sports comedy film directed by Kent Alterman. He plays a former singer named Jackie Moon who uses the money he earns from his only hit song Love Me Sexy to buy the Flint Tropics, an ABA team based in Flint, Michigan. Apart from owner, he also serves as the team’s coach, promoter, and starting forward. He hires former NBA bench-warmer Ed Monix, played by Woody Harrelson, to improve the struggling team’s performance. The film also stars André Benjamin, David Koechner, and Maura Tierney. On his basketball skills:
Probably, well, one of the best celebrity basketball players in the world. Even though I wasn’t invited to the Celebrity NBA All-Star game that happened last night or two nights ago. No, I’m okay, you know I played a lot in high school, I still play pick-up ball here and there, so that’s probably the sport I played the most, so to get to do a basketball comedy was like a dream come true.
The Other Boleyn Girl
Portman plays Anne Boleyn in the 2008 period drama The Other Boleyn Girl, alongside Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana. In the film, the Boleyn family conspire to have one of their daughters produce a son with King Henry VIII. Despite her sister being favored over her by the King, Anne pursues her goal of securing a position in the royal court through betrayal, deceit, and seduction. On her costume:
It’s real misery to put it on after you’ve had it off…They were incredibly helpful for the characters.
What Just Happened
In this comedy drama directed by Barry Levinson, Willis plays himself as an actor named Bob who refuses to shave his beard for a movie. Bob’s stubbornness is just one of several personal and professional difficulties producer Ben, played by Robert De Niro, is forced to contend with during the course of the film. Producer Art Linson, whose Hollywood memoir formed the basis for the story line, says about working with Willis:
If you have good actors they bring something to it. And Bruce really did. He took himself seriously. He didn’t just send himself up. He did it with the rage of a guy obsessed with integrity. When he doesn’t want to shave his beard, it just makes me laugh out loud.
Assassination of a High School President
In this adult comedy Willis plays Principal Kirkpatrick, who is involved in a SAT scandal. His corrupt behavior is discovered by the school paper reporter, Bobby Funk – played by Reece Daniel Thompson. Bobby, who initially blames a fellow student for misconduct, must decide whether to expose the principal, or keep quiet and enjoy newfound social status at school. The Great Debaters
Washington directs and stars as Melvin B. Tolson in the biographical period drama, The Great Debaters. Based on the life of Wiley College’s debate coach Melvin Tolson, the film tells the story of how their 47th debate team made it to Harvard despite an era when the Jim Crow laws were commonplace. The film was produced by Oprah Winfrey. On directing:

Charlie Wilson’s War
Hoffman plays Gust Avrakotos, a CIA agent, in this drama directed by Mike Nichols. Texas congressman Charlie Wilson teams up with Avrakotos, a renegade, and a Houston socialite to assist Afghani rebels in their war with the Soviets. Their efforts contribute to the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold war.
I read about his life, and the things he did before this story are outrageous. When he says that people were trying to kill him, that’s something that would have come out of his mouth. When he was in Greece he did live a life where he was at risk of being killed, and his companion had been killed earlier. It was a case of one of those great characters where you could really get behind – somebody who’s life was lived in such extremes.
