Rain Fall Down

The band releases their song, Rain Fall Down, from the album, A Bigger Bang. Jagger:

Rain Fall Down is a song about London. It has a line, ‘Feel like we’re living in a battleground, everyone’s jazzed.’ That was in my head already. There were so many armed police in the streets. Walking around, seeing machine guns, is not how you imagine London to be. If we keep going down this track, we’re not going to get back.

Jesus Take the Wheel

Underwood releases a single from her album, Some Hearts. She says that this is the song for which she’d like to be best known for:

I would pick an important one. Not Before He Cheats or Good Girl, none of that. Something that somebody can hear and it would make them feel better or help them through an important time or a tough time in their life.

Fix You

The band releases Fix You, from their album, X & Y. Martin:

Because it’s so unlikely that that song would have come out of that period. The rest of that album (X&Y) I like, but I don’t think it’s great. Whereas that song… it’s the best one because it almost single-handedly got us through a really difficult two years. You could say it’s too soft or whatever, but… it does exactly what it says on the tin. Even when I’m singing it, by the time I get to the end, I’m thinking, ‘I like this’.

Big Blue Note

Keith releases his single, Big Blue Note, from his album, Honkytonk University.

I’ve never written anything quite like it. It’s just one of those things that happens to you as a songwriter. You’re going to write enough of them that one’s going to end up psychedelic or something. It went where it went. It’s a great “dear john” letter song. The title came out somewhere and it’s kind of a recitation. The last verse just ties it all together. He folds that note up into a paper airplane and says if it don’t come back he’ll accept the fact that she’s gone. I like to say on those that we happened to be the only writers up that night when that one floated by.
