Announce possible Higgs-Boson
Scientists from CERN projects ATLAS and CMS announce that they may have found the long sought after Higgs boson. Preliminary results reveal a particle in the predicted size-range (125-126 GeV) of the hypothetical Higgs boson. In this graph of the two-photon decay experiment, the smooth curve corresponds to known background processes. There is a deviation at the predicted size range of the Higgs boson. The probability of such a deviation occurring without the Higgs boson existing is “three chances in a million”.
We stated last year that in 2012 we would either find a new Higgs-like particle or exclude the existence of the Standard Model Higgs. With all the necessary caution, it looks to me that we are at a branching point: the observation of this new particle indicates the path for the future towards a more detailed understanding of what we’re seeing in the data.” said CERN Research Director Sergio Bertolucci

Becomes mother of two
Michaels announces VIA Facebook and People Magazine that she is officially a mother. Michaels brought home Lukensia, her 2-year-old adopted daughter from Haiti, the same week that her partner Heidi Rhoades, gave birth to their son, Phoenix. This is also the first time the trainer has spoken publicly about her relationship with Rhoades.

‘Anchorman 2’ announcement
Ferrell appears on Conan to officially announce that the sequel to the 2004 comedy film, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is in the works. In complete character as Ron Burgundy, the actor enters the stage playing jazz flute and proceeds to throw some insults at O’Brien before making the announcement.
As of oh-nine-hundred hours Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for ‘Anchorman.’ It is official: There will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman’.
More humane animal treatment
Wendy’s starts treating chickens and pigs used for food more humanely. Their chicken supplier, O.K. Foods Inc., has begun using a low-atmospheric pressure system, which leaves chickens unconscious before being handled by plant workers. Wendy’s is the first quick-service restaurant chain to back this method. Chickens were previously electrified. Wendy’s is also working with pork producers to eliminate gestation pens and tight crates.
We’ve studied the LAPS system and agree that it’s a major improvement to industry practices. We encourage all chicken producers to embrace this practice.
Leprechaun: Origins announced
Lionsgate and WWE announce a two film deal will start with Leprechaun film reboot titled Leprechaun: Origins. The companies will share producing costs as well as team on marketing strategies. Lionsgate will handle distribution. WWE Studios head, Michael Luisi:

Switches adoption from DRC to Haiti
Michaels receives an adoption referral for a girl in Haiti. After completing her dossier for the Democratic Republic of Congo, Michaels was worried that the Congo would not work out and started a second adoption in Haiti.
So now, it’s just a matter of trying to get her home and anything can happen and fall through or fall apart, so it’s kind of premature for me to say it, but that’s where it’s at. So if it falls apart, you’ll know why I’m like, devastated and not coming out of my house for months.
Divorce announcement
Kardashian releases a public announcement about her divorce from Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage.
After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.
Coroner: ‘alcohol toxicity’
A London coroner rules Winehouse’s death cause by alcohol overdose. Despite noting that:
[Winehouse was an] intelligent, determined young woman who, at times, was able to successful abstain from alcohol.
she ruled that her death was “death by misadventure,” and noted that the inquest said Winehouse was more than five times over the legal limit, and that two large bottles and one small bottle of vodka were found in the bedroom of her London home. Winehouse’s parents were in the court to hear the verdict.

Pyeongchang wins bid
Pyeongchang, South Korea, wins bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. This will be South Korea’s first time hosting the Olympic games. Pyenogchang achieved 63 votes, beating out Annecy (25 votes) and Munich (7 votes). The voting process took only minutes, making it the quickest in history. Cho Yang-ho, Pyeongchang’s bid leader states:

Takes a break from Brown
The actress announces that she is taking a short break from her studies as Brown in order to focus on, and finish up, her professional projects including Harry Potter. She adds that she will continue to work towards her degree but that it may take and extra semester or two.
As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.
