Says Palin bought by Trump

Speaking to MSNBC’s Jansing, Congressman King says about Trump:

He has a massive amount of assets and resources that he can deploy when it comes time to convince someone. And that has to affect the way people think. Not only the plus-ups of the promotion, the limelight, all the resources that are there…When I see where Sarah Palin has been on policies and issues, I’m confident that she’s much more comfortable with Ted Cruz’s issues than she is with Donald Trump’s.

Louder Than War interview

The band is interviewed by Louder than War. On being part of the Manchester scene:

Manchester is an important city musically and culturally it has given the world so many great bands. That is both a blessing and a curse. There are a lot of great bands coming through in Manchester but it’s quite varied; from psychedelia to electronic to traditional guitar bands. I don’t think there is one sound that unifies it as a ‘scene’. Then again I’m not sure that was the case with ‘Manchester’ either, I guess scenes are often about fashion and drugs as much as the music I suppose.

Clinton ‘Two Faced,’ ‘Liar,’

In an interview with Klein, Jones criticizes Hillary Clinton’s statements about standing by the victims of sexual assault.

And how dare her. You know what? She don’t care nothing about women. Because if she did she would believe what I had to say. She would believe what the other women had to say. It’s really a sad, sad day if Hillary becomes president, because she has allowed her husband to get by with this type of stuff.  Why does he have a right to be back in the White House, the people’s house? Why is he allowed to be back there with the track record that he has and his wife and the lying that she does and how she tried to discredit all of these women that her husband abused and sexually harassed? [She’s] such a liar. And she’s so two faced. I never once was contacted by her. Not one time and apologized about what her husband did to me.

She also says the treatment of the Clintons in the media differs from that of Bill Cosby:

There are so many people, I think, in the media, and so many people out there protecting them for whatever reason. I don’t know if they are scared of them, or what? If Bill Cosby, I mean, even if what he did was somewhat different, he still abused these women sexually and so did Bill Clinton. I’m not going to speak for all of them. But I know about me and what I heard about Kathleen Willey and different ones. I mean, he is a predator. I just don’t understand how he can get by with it.

Discusses Guru-Murthy interview

In an interview with The Telegraph, Tarantino discusses shutting down Guru-Murthy in an in interview about film violence, during the promotion of Django Unchained.

I refuse to get on the defensive track. Because I did that in the 90s, and I’m done. My opinion hasn’t changed. I wasn’t going to give it to him…But one of the things that backs up my point is that in the last 25 years, when it comes to industrial societies, hands down the most violent cinema that exists in any one country is Japan. Sometimes grotesquely so. And as we all know, they have the least violent society of all. It’s just right there.

Calls Confederate flag ‘American Swastika’

In the interview with The Telegraph, Tarantino says:

All of a sudden, people started talking about the Confederacy in America in a way they haven’t before. I mean, I’ve always felt the Rebel flag was some American swastika. And people are starting to question about stuff like statues of Bedford Forrest [the Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard] in parks. Well, it’s about damn time, if you ask me

BBC 6 Live interview

Aaron Starkie and James Ryan are interviewed by Hawkins on BBC 6 Live. On their sound and image:

AS: I think we’re learning that more and more. The last gig we did at Gorilla, the lighting show a was a big part of it. And that’s something we’re considering more for the future, perhaps involving video. In terms of writing, somebody comes up with a riff, whether Jim on the bass, or me on the keyboards, or Kurt on the guitar. Then we jam around that for a while. A lot of the time we’re beating the hell out of it to get it into a working a song. And I’ll have random lyrics for a while. Then there’s other ones like Don’t Mind, that came from start to finish in one complete unit. It’s amazing when that happens.

JR: We don’t sit down write a song that sits into our image.

AS: There’s a few that have been dismissed for being a bit too sunny.

GIGSoup interview

The band is interviewed by GIGSoup. On still working day jobs.

A lot of bands that are a higher level than us still have day jobs…we speak to them and they’re all on a decent label and having success but they still work. You just think, it would help (not having a job) because you could do like 20 date tours and go around Europe, we have got fans overseas and stuff, but for the moment it’s not on the horizon. You get a lot of trust fund kids basically in music these days and I think that’s why the accent seems to have been exclusively middle to upper class. It seems from the outside it looks easier to ‘make it’…it seems you just throw a video on Youtube, get 3 million views or whatever, and that’s it but you know there’s a lot more that goes on behind that, the time, the effort.

Criticises Rubio in Breitbart interview

In an interview with Breitbart, Cruz criticizes Marco Rubio over the “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill. Cruz:

Border security is national security. No candidate who has advocated amnesty, who has advocated leaving our border unsecured, who has advocated giving President [Barack] Obama the ability to bring in tens of thousands of Syrian refugees with no background checks can plausibly claim to be an effective leader on national security. An unsecured border and millions coming into this country illegally with the promise of amnesty—with no background checks whatsoever—is fundamentally inconsistent with keeping America safe. Each of us in public office makes a choice, makes a choice of where you stand…A great many of us, including me and including Sen. Rubio, had promised the men and women who elected us that if you sent us to the Senate we would fight tooth and nail against amnesty. In 2013, I made the decision to honor that promise. Sen. Rubio made a different decision. He chose to stand with Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer and the establishment Republicans and push the most massive amnesty program in the history of our country—push legislation that would not secure the border, push legislation that would grant citizenship to over 12 million people here illegally, push legislation that would give President Obama a blank check for admitting Middle Eastern refugees with no background checks. I made a very different decision…So on the question of amnesty, Sen. Rubio stands with the Washington elites—I stand with the working men and women of America.

GQ Interview: Colonize Mars before WWIII

In an interview with GQ, Musk says a Mars mission is important to help ensure the long term survival of mankind. He says he will announce detailed plans of the Mars Colonisation Transport programme in 2016.

You back up your hard drive…. Maybe we should back up life, too? I think we need to acknowledge that there’s certainly a possibility of a third World War, and if that does occur it could be far worse than anything that’s happened before. Let’s say nuclear weapons are used. I mean, there could be a very powerful social movement that’s anti-technology. There’s also growth in religious extremism. Like, I mean, does ISIS grow…?

Ellipsis interview

The band is interviewed by Ellipsis before their performance in Liverpool. About Cavalcade:

On the first album, some of the tracks came from a previous incarnation of ours, a band called Omerta that Jim and I used to be in, so the first album was written over a much longer period than this one…The songs stood up but a lot of the first album felt quite old, to us anyway, but the second album, that was written over… maybe two years, I don’t know…Two years, around day jobs and things, and we had a really good working relationship with the producer – not that we didn’t on the first one, but I think he got a little bit more out of us, and it was a little bit closer to what we wanted…We’ve got more of our own sound on this one, maybe, whereas on the first album we were trying out a few different things, sort of big string-symphonic melancholy stuff, synth-driven stuff. We’ve the same on the second album but less… less orchestration, I guess.

Evening Times interview

The band are interviewed in advance of their appearance at the Classic Grand in Glasgow:

We’re really looking forward to playing the Classic Grand. We have great fans in Scotland and Glasgow is a great city. It feels a lot like Manchester actually. Glasgow crowds seem to be well up for a good night and won’t just stand there stroking their chins. We had a warm welcome the last time we played there at Stereo. We’re very proud of Cavalcade and glad it’s been well received. Word seems to be spreading as gigs are getting busier and busier. We’ve just played a sold out show at Manchester Gorilla and that blew us away.

Serial interview

Bergdahl is interviewed on the Serial podcast.

All I was seeing was basically, leadership failure to the point that the lives of the guys standing next to me, were, literally, from what I could see, in danger of something seriously going wrong and somebody being killed.

When the interviewer calls his actions a “gutsy move”:

Gutsy, but still stupid…Twenty minutes out, I’m going ‘good grief. I’m way over my head’… suddenly it really starts to sink in. I really did something bad. Well, not bad, but I really did something serious.

He says it took the Taliban about a day to find him.

I couldn’t do anything against six or seven guys with AK-47s, and they pulled up and that was it.

On captivity:

To the point where you just want to scream, and like I can’t scream. I can’t risk that, so it’s like you’re standing there, screaming in your mind.

Don Lemon interview

Trump is interviewed by Lemon on CNN about his plan to halt Muslim immigration, a possible third-party bid, and the effect the campaign has on him. He says that his plan would have exceptions for Muslim athletes and diplomats.

I am the least racist person that you have ever met…I’m doing good for the Muslims. Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me. They say, ‘Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.’ I have many friends who are Muslims. They’re phenomenal people. They are so happy at what I’m doing. I love the Middle East. I love the people of the Middle East.

On a third party run:

I think it’s highly unlikely unless they break the pledge to me, because it’s a two-way street. They said they would be honorable. So far, they, I can’t tell you if they are, but the establishment is not exactly being very good to me. If they don’t treat me with a certain amount of decorum and respect. If they don’t treat me as the front-runner…If the playing field is not level, then certainly all options are open. But that’s nothing I want to do.

On comparisons with Hitler:

You know where things bother me? If things are true. If that were true, it would bother me tremendously. But of course if you were a racist you probably wouldn’t care. But if things are true, it would bother me. But if it’s so false, and honestly I don’t hear it often.

How I Wrote That Album

Sivan talks about how he wrote his album Blue Neighbourhood on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. This is a web exclusive for The Tonight Show’s YouTube channel.

I wrote it in a lot of places like garages and apartments and bedrooms and hotel rooms and stuff like that. One of the songs the power went out during the writing session in the hotel room and we had a bus show up outside that was powering the whole hotel and I’m pretty sure you can still hear in the song a very low hum of this bus.
