A Great Big World interview

Interview0 Comments

Seacrest interviews A Great Big World during On Air With Ryan Seacrest and questions them about the story behind their single Say Something.

I feel like Ian was invested more when we started writing it. Ian was definitely heartbroken the whole way through [writing it]. I didn’t realize I was heartbroken until we started writing the song, like halfway through. There was this girl in my life and it went on for three years and it was un-reciprocated. I thought it was something else and I was younger and I felt something and it was painful but it made me feel alive and I think a lot of it was, I was afraid to let it go I think about it now and I get the chills because it’s so crazy that’s the one that’s connecting to everybody and we felt so alone and now it’s like a healing song and people are listening to it and it’s helping them.

Rolling Stone cover

Magazine Cover0 Comments

ho6b8rdyvt9jb6rjLorde appears on the cover of the January 2014 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. She talks about finding strength, her perspective has changed, and gives advice to future musicians.

If you want your music to be heard. . . you can just put stuff on the Internet and people can love it and that’s cool. I think the industry is much less scary than people think it is. You have to go into it with an idea of who you are and what you want to do, and you have to have an idea of the things that you won’t do, and the things that you want to aspire to. Because if you have clear goals and absolute no’s for yourself, then people can figure it out. And then you won’t be left like, ‘Oh, sh*t, why did I do that …’ I don’t know, juice commercial.

Esquire interview

Hoffman discusses the film The Master taking three years to develop:

That’s the best way to do a film. That’s the way you rehearse — you develop it, you work with the writer and director and talk and bullshit, and then you eventually shoot and you’re on the same page. Film’s hard when you don’t have any relationship with the director at all and you just show up. Then you really are just a gun for hire. But that doesn’t happen so often with me.

The funny thing is that it’s so hard to talk about, because my character changes all the time. And then everything keeps changing to the point where I’m waiting to read the next episode to find out what’s going on with me.
