We’re both from the Caribbean, so I always thought we had this common ground and this song is pretty reggae, but it also has that rock attitude that I think Rihanna has, so that’s why I thought she was the natural choice for collaboration on this record, but I also thought it was a little bit of a challenge to get her to record this track because she’s so busy. I honestly thought it’d never happen, but I said, ‘I’m going to send it to her and see what happens.’ And she heard the record and she loved it and she said she was on board and I was the happiest girl alive!

We did an episode what was done completely in silence with sign language. Everything was silent there wasn’t ever anything done in the history of television like this.

I’m not trying to compare albums; I think you can make an argument for both. With that being said, I am a huge supporter of what Kendrick does. And because of that, I would love to win in a different category. We obviously had massive success on commercial radio, and I think that, in ways, The Heist was a bigger album, but Kendrick has a better rap album.
