Kavanagh: McGregor will fight anyone

Kavanagh says he’s open to McGregor fighting anyone.

There’s a lot of fights I’d like to see. I think Canor is pound for pound the best unarmed combatant on the planet right now, regardless of what kind of combat sport it is. To me, it’s a real privilege to see him in action. I’d like to see him test different styles. Whether it’s Khabib the lightweight, whether it’s the trilogy fight with Nate, or the Aldo match at 145. Who knows with Conor? [Or Mayweather?] That would be great too. I’d be very curious to see that too. Bring them on.

Wants McGregor fight

Nurmagomedov says he was calling White between rounds to talk about a potential McGregor fight.

I talk to Dana in between rounds. I said, ‘Hey, don’t send me no more of your fake contracts, I need real contracts. ‘ So he said, ‘Hey, you have to finish this fight.’ I told him, ‘You already know I deserve this. After this fight, you need to send me a real contract.’ And then he told me to go finish it. After I finished fight I told him I’m waiting for agreement; maybe in Brooklyn, UFC 209, why not? February, UFC 210 in Las Vegas. Anywhere, it doesn’t matter. Russia, Ireland, I can fight in his backyard, anywhere. I know all of you know I deserve this.

Wants UFC equity stake

At the UFC 205 press conference McGregor says he wants an equity stake in the company.

I’m aware of my worth. I want mine now. I’m coming for mine now if you want me back…If you want me to stick around I want the ownership. I want equity. I want a share of the company. Conan O’Brien owns a piece of the company, so where’s my share?..I got a million other hurdles before I get to the next fight. Whoever owns this now has to come to me…I’ve earned this…Bring me on board for real. I need to be all in on this as an owner., or an equity stake in the company.

‘If McGregor wants to fight we can sign it right now’

At the post UFC 205 press conference Woodley talks about fighting McGregor.

I’m mean to be straight honest. Conor McGregor is a guy that fought at 145, ever in his life. I haven’t weighed 145 since my sophomore year in high school. He’s tall, got long arms, got good timing, and can place good punches. I’m 100% positive he’s not been hit with the shots I’ll hit him with. I just don’t think Conor understands the pressure I can put on him, the power I can put on him, and all the different attacks. I think it’s good for media. If he wants to fight, we can sign it right now. I just don’t think it’s a good idea for him to fight me.

Post-fight interview

Directly after being declared the winner McGregor asks about his belts.

Where the f-ck is my second belt? I’ve already got this one. Where’s the second one at? Cheap motherf-ckers. $4.2 billion this company was sold for. Where’s that second belt. Go backstage and grab that f-cking belt somewhere.

He then talks to Rogan about his win over Alvarez.

They’re not on my level. You’ve got to have size, reach, length. If you come in any way equal to me I’m going to rip your whole head off. Eddie’s a warrior, but he shouldn’t have been in here with me and that’s just the truth of it.

McGregor: Nurmagomedov’s ‘a consistent pull-out merchant’

McGregor says he is skeptical about Nurmagomedov.

Look he’s fought once in eight years. Y’know what I’m saying? He ain’t fightin’ too frequent for my liking. For me to commit to something like that I need solid proof that people are going to show up, and he’s a consistent pull-out merchant. We’ll see where that goes. He had a good performance tonight, fair play to him. But I need to see active. I need to see activity, I need to see me. If you want me to change your life, if you want me to come and pick you, you’d better have some damn [good] reasons for me to do that.

Wants to fight ‘chicken’ Conor McGregor

After his win against Johnson in the UFC 205 prelims, Nurmagomedov says he wants to fight McGregor.

I want to fight your chicken Let’s go with your chicken. I want to stay humble. But I have to talk because the other guys talk too much and … I understand the crazy power the UFC PR machine has. [McGregor], at the beginning of the year he tapped like a chicken but at the end of the year he is fighting for the title. Crazy.

White: Trump may attend UFC 205

White says Trump told him he would attend UFC 205 if he won the election.

Donald originally told me he that would come to the fight, if he won. I don’t think Donald really realised what his duties were going to be had he won. I think he’s meeting with Obama today and then I don’t know. We’ll see, man. Listen, no pressure to come … but it wouldn’t suck if he came.

He also says the family contacted him after the win.

His family reached out to me that night. I was in my hotel room, you know, watching the results, and they had, they had me come down to the (victory) party. So i went to the party, that night and, they’ve been very good to me, so good luck to him.

Calls reporter ‘mush head donkey’

McGregor is caught on a hot mic between interviews berating Canadian sports channel TNS’ Michael Landsberg, who had previously suggested the press conference chair fight was staged. However, the feed was now with New Zealand channel PrimeTV’s Andrew Mulligan, who reacted in confusion as he listened to Conor’s disses, thinking McGregor was talking about him.

He’s a f-ckin’ donkey! He’s an idiot! Some sort of shite about scripted, or something he sad. He’s a big mad head on him. He’s a dope. He’s a mad mush head or something. He looks like a burns victim or something.

The clip ends with the New Zealand anchors calling McGregor a “dick” and a “complete nutter”.

Alvarez coach: McGregor has ‘maybe the best hands I’ve seen in MMA’

Despite McGregor saying “f-ck Mark Henry” at the UFC 205 press conference in September, Alvarez’s coach compliments the Irishman’s abilities.

Nobodies a fool, Conor’s amazing. In my opinion, he’s got some of the best hands. Take away my guys, maybe the best hands I’ve seen in MMA, and you know, I’m going to be partial to my guys. But he has some of the best hands I’ve ever seen. His preciseness, his power, his speed, knowing where the guy’s going to be, he can adjust his punches. He can slide back, he does those slip lefts, he’s got the beautiful right uppercut, slide off uppercuts to the left. Even his wrestling, I’ve seen him do some great defence against [Dennis] Siver, when he peeled out with his legs. I think Conor’s great all around man, he’s impressive. It’s going to be a great fight.

Criticises featherweight division

McGregor talks about the featherweight division.

Obviously, it’s tougher to get to featherweight, but I think it’s crazy the way they say I can’t get to featherweight no more or all these crazy things. Like I ain’t the undisputed champion. Like I haven’t gone in there and taken out the whole division as early as last year. December of last year that was. Not even a year ago. Then they’re talking about stripping and vacating and all this stuff, it’s like hold on a minute — what did I just go and do there? Didn’t I just take out that division? Am I not champion?

Predicts second round victory

When Kavanagh is asked about Alvarez employing similar tactics against McGregor as he did when he defeated Anthony Pettis, he says:

That would seem to be the smart money. The Pettis fight was a nice one for us to study, you know, he’s kind of a slick southpaw. The glaring difference would be that Pettis wouldn’t be known for fighting with his hands on the inside. Beautiful kicks. Eddie just smothered that. That’s not to say that Eddie doesn’t enjoy a brawl. He seems to. Anything I’ve heard from him, he seems to be very up for that. They’ve been studying Conor’s style of boxing. I’m looking at them doing a lot of pads and maybe they feel they do see a glaring hole there. Eddie does feel like he can expose him. I mean he’s coming off of a knockout victory of a tough guy [Rafael dos Anjos], so maybe they see that as their route to victory.

He disagrees with McGregor’s prediction that the Irishman will win in the first round:

I’ll go with 2nd round. I’m going to be conservative. I do think Round 1 will be quite a lot on the fence. But, it’s an exhausting style, especially the way Conor can defend himself on the fence, he doesn’t rely on muscle he relies on posture, which is not tiring. It just takes one break. Round 2 they start. The shot won’t be quite as fast. The muscles won’t be quite as energetic and he’s a slippery customer to try and hold for that length of time. So I think around about the eight-minute mark. That’s when it’ll happen.

‘I run this game’

McGregor says he is the only UFC fighter who doesn’t do what he’s told.

Listen, everyone in this game does what the f-ck they’re told. Everyone but me, because I run this game. So I don’t give a f-ck about all of that. They told you you’re on the prelims, you’re on the f-cking prelims. They told you to fight, now you’re on the f-cking Fight Night. Nobody has no say in this but me. I’m the only one who can say anything about anything. Everyone else does what they’re told, and rightfully f-cking so. I run this whole shit. I run New York. I’m the reason we’re even here in the first place. I’m the reason this whole thing is happening. If I wasn’t here, this whole ship goes down. And that’s the truth. That’s facts. There’s no one else out there. There’s no one but me.

He also says he won’t retire.

I love it. I don’t stop. It’s all I do. I don’t do nothing else. I continue to show up, I continue to fight, I continue to put these amazing events for the amazing fans of this sport. Of course I love what I do, and not only am I not getting tired of it, I’m actually getting better at it.

Lays out McGregor’s Post-UFC 205 options

In an interview with McMahon, Kavanagh outlines the different options open to McGregor after UFC 205.

To be honest, things change so rapidly, we are not too sure what the next step is going to be. Right now we are just going to focus on this contest. Let’s get this positive result. [However,] there are so many options for Conor right now. The [Floyd] Mayweather fight is still kind of hanging in there. [Conor] is the [145-pound] champion. In a couple of weeks he will be the [155-pound] champion. The Nate [Diaz] trilogy is there. Maybe going back to [145lbs]. So, a lot of things are up in the air. I’m sure Conor will have an interesting announcement to make after the fight. So, stay tuned.

On the possibility of Mayweather-McGregor fight:

There is only one way that Floyd would step in and that would be pure boxing. Absolutely, that’s the only way.

‘Fighting McGregor is not my goal’

Dos Anjos says he is concentrating on his upcoming bout with Tony Ferguson, and will fight whoever is up next.

I think a win on Saturday will deserve a title shot. That’s my plan. One step at time and my focus is on Saturday, but I think a victory over Tony will give me a title shot. I’ll then watch who wins the title fight, and hopefully then I will get the winner…Fighting Conor is not my goal. My goal is to get my belt back. If Conor has the belt and he decides to fight and defend the belt later, I want to be the guy. Conor or Alvarez–whoever wins. Fighting Conor is not my goal. Everything I do in my life, I want to be the best…I really think Conor has a big chance to win the title,” said ‘RDA’. “I think he has a big chance to beat Eddie Alvarez. I think he will get that…If Conor wins and decides to hide himself behind the belt and sit on it and lock up the whole division, then I will be agitated.
