Spurs secure their first League Cup trophy for manager Bill Nicholson with two late goals from England striker, Martin Chivers. Third division Villa impress the record 100,000 Wembley crowd with a gallant effort and receive a standing ovation during their lap of honour at the end of the game.
Man City 2-1 West Brom
Manchester City win their second trophy in of the season having won the European Cup Winners Cup Final against Gornik Zabrze just 9 days earlier. After Astle gives West Brom the lead in the 5th minute, strikes from Doyle and Pardoe give City their first League Cup in front of 97,963 at Wembley.
Swindon 3-1 Arsenal
A huge shock at Wembley as third division Swindon stun hot favourites Arsenal with a 3-1 victory. Arsenal blame a heavy pitch and a flu bug as a record crowd of 98,169 see two goals from Don Rogers seal the match in extra time for the plucky underdogs.
Leeds 1-0 Arsenal
Terry Cooper’s long range strike after 20 minutes gives Leeds their first League Cup victory in front of 97,887 at Wembley Stadium. A drab affair, Don Revie’s Leeds are content to defend for the remaining 70 minutes as they successfully defend their one goal lead against an uninspiring Gunners side.
QPR 3-2 West Brom
In the first League Cup Final to be played at Wembley Stadium, QPR triumph 3-2 over holders West Brom. Goals from Morgan, Marsh and Lazarus see the Londoners triumph in front of a record 97,952 spectators.

Goals from Brown, Clark, Kaye and Williams delight the majority of the 31,925 in attendance at the Hawthorns as the Baggies overturn the first leg deficit to lift the 1966 League Cup. A solitary reply by Martin Peters for the visitors is not enough to save the Hammers from a 5-3 aggregate defeat. This is the last League Cup Final to be played over two legs.
West Brom 1-2 West Ham
