Number one draft pick
The Timberwolves draft Kentucky freshman center Towns as the No. 1 pick of the 2015 NBA draft.
When Mr. Adam Silver came out, I saw him, and he said, ‘with the No. 1 pick’, I was racing, I told Coach Cal before when he first came out that I was trying to drink the water and I was shaking uncontrollably, and I told him, ‘Coach, don’t give me the ball right now for the last-second shot. I wouldn’t make it.’
Warriors 110-101 Timberwolves
The Warriors win 110-101. Curry scores 34 points, Thompson scores 23 points and Green has a double-double (13 points and 14 rebounds). Wiggins scores 17 points for the Timberwolves.
It felt like we went through the motions a little bit. Maybe this is just two weeks of already knowing our position, I don’t know. We just weren’t sharp.
They only had seven guys active so we knew they were guys playing for their contracts and NBA lives. They came out and gave us good battle but we kind of need that. I think it’ll help us in the playoffs.
We could easily have phoned it in. t’s encouraging to see the guys work hard. With our injury situation we basically played just seven guys.
Raptors 113-99 Timberwolves
The Raptors win 113-99 over the Timberwolves. Williams scores 18 points Derozan scores 17 points. Wiggins scores 25 points, LaVine scores 22 for the Timberwolves. Coach Saunders:
They keep on wearing you down, You try to relax a little bit and you’re a half-step slower contesting on 3s and they’re making shots. That gets you into a whirlwind.
When the ball’s moving, you can know that the ball’s going to find you. You just have to be ready. It’s always fun when the ball’s moving and you have an open shot.
Coach Dwane Casey:
We’ve got to have a defensive approach, a defensive identity with effort, with focus, each and every night we step out. Because in this league anybody can beat anybody.
Lakers 101 – 99 Wolves
The Lakers win 101-99 Wolves in overtime. Clarkson takes 20 points and two steals.
I think I took a few steps back. I didn’t take care of the ball well, held the ball a little too much on the offensive end. I’ve just got to keep growing, man, go back and watch the film, learn from it
Sign player out of desperation
With eight players on their injured list and without eight healthy players that could play, the Timberwolves sign Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract just hours before their game against the Knicks. After learning he was signed, Kilpatrick quickly gathered his belongings and drove from Delaware to New York, arriving at the Timberwolves’ locker room in Madison Square Garden about 45 minutes before the start of the game. T-Wolves coach Flip Saunders:
We had to fulfill our rules, so we had to go find somebody that was within a train ride away…We had him in before so we worked him out, so we knew about him and we’ve been following him, but there’s no question that geography helped. We had to have a guy here ready to play at 7:30.
I was just getting ready. We had practice today to get ready to play one of the other D-League teams. I didn’t think I was going to end up here. It’s kind of a blessing.
Gives away 1000 tickets
Garnett purchases 1000 tickets as a token of appreciation for the Timberwolves fans’ welcome of his return to the team.
As a gesture of thanks, I would like to treat some fans to Monday night’s game against the Clippers. Love you all, and thanks for the love. Enjoy the game on me.
Knicks 100-98 Timberwolves
Lin leads the Knicks to a victory against the Timberwolves, extending their win-streak to five. Lin has 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. For the Timberwolves, Love leads the team with 32 points and 21 rebounds. Lin:
It was an ugly one, it was a gutsy one, it was a road win, everybody was tired. That’s the beauty of basketball. That’s the beauty of our time. We never gave up.
XTRA 910 in Phoenix interview
Williams comments on being selected second in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves:
It’s just a great experience for me and myself and also my family, just hearing my name being called by David Stern and walking on that stage and shaking his hand. I think that’s every basketball player’s dream and I’m finally here. I just really felt accomplished at that point.
