It was a fun moment, but it will only mean something — and I’ll probably have a better answer for that question after we win that championship — but signature moments only come for players who are holding the trophy

James, despite being on the brink of elimination:

I feel confident because I’m the best player in the world

Warriors 115-80 Rockets Game 3

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 115-80. Curry scores 40 points, Thompson scores 17 points and Green scores 17 points, 13 rebounds. Harden scores 17 points and Howard scores 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets. Golden State leads West Finals 3-0. Coach Kerr on Curry:

He’s had a brilliant season. The shooting is hard to describe because I don’t think we’ve ever seen anybody shoot the ball the way Steph does off the dribble, off the catch.

Curry on Game 3:

We understand it’s a special moment, it’s just we’re wrapped up in our day to day grind of preparing for games and going out and exerting all the effort we need to make this story happen. So it’s kind of hard to remove yourself from those emotions.

Howard on Game 3 loss:

We just can’t quit on each other. We’ve come too far. We’ve been through too many battles to just allow it to end like tonight … we’ve just got to man up.

Warriors 110-106 Rockets Game1

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 110-106. Curry scores 34 points, six rebounds and five assists and Green scores 13 points and 12 rebounds. Harden scores 28 points, Ariza scores 20 points and Smith scores 17 points and seven rebounds for the Rockets. Golden State leads West Finals 1-0. Coach Kerr on team:

It really stretches people out. Houston does the same thing. It was an interesting chess match, because they like to go small and we like to go small.

Harden on Game 1 loss:

You can’t give a really good shooting team easy layups and confidence. That’s what we did in the second quarter.

Coach McHale on Howard’s injuries:

Hopefully Dwight is healthy and we can play big. We didn’t have that option with Dwight out.

It’s like wine. It gets better with time.

Coach Kerr:

I think I said the first couple games, `Our defense was good enough, but it wasn’t championship defense. I was wrong. This is what it’s going to take.

Coach Joerger on Game 5 loss:

Everybody’s saying we couldn’t score because Tony Allen’s on the floor. We put up 78 without him.

Warriors 101-84 Grizzlies Game 4

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 101-84. Curry scores 33 points, Green scores 16 points and ten rebounds, Thompson scores 15 points. Gasol scores 19 points and ten rebounds, Randolph scores 12 points and 11 rebounds and Conley scores 10 points for the Grizzlies. The West Semifinal Series is tied 2-2. Coach Kerr on Game 4 win:

Tonight we took a step towards understanding that sense of urgency and kind of competitiveness and physicality to the game. It was probably our most competitive effort, definitely of the series, but probably of the playoffs just in terms of understanding you got to play every second.

Bogut:

This series could have been close to over if we hadn’t come out like we were supposed to tonight. You know it’s never over until the end, but being down 3-1 going home is a pretty tough task, so 2-2 right now in a three-game series and we like our chances.

Coach Joerger on Memphis loss:

We lost our composure early in the first half, especially in the first quarter. We needed to keep that closer in the first quarter. We had a chance there. Our offense really struggled tonight, and it put our defense in a bad way.

Grizzlies 99-89 Game 3

The Grizzlies win 99-89. Randolph scores 22 points, Gasol scores 21 points and 15 rebounds and Conley scores 11 points. Curry scores 23 points, Thompson scores 20 points for the Warriors. Memphis leads West Semifinals 2-1. Coach Joerger on Game 3 victory:

This was a huge win for our franchise, a huge win for our team. The crowd was fantastic.

Curry on Game 3 loss:

I have to play better for us to win games, especially on the road. I hold myself to a high standard. I haven’t reached it yet. So looking forward to the challenge of getting that level in Game 4, setting the tone and (it) could be a different outcome.

Coach Kerr on Warriors:

They’re learning. It’s part of the process. You see teams go through this all the time in the playoffs. It’s the only way to figure it out, to go through the pain of losing a game like tonight.

Warriors 110-101 Timberwolves

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 110-101. Curry scores 34 points, Thompson scores 23 points and Green has a double-double (13 points and 14 rebounds). Wiggins scores 17 points for the Timberwolves.

Coach Kerr:

It felt like we went through the motions a little bit. Maybe this is just two weeks of already knowing our position, I don’t know. We just weren’t sharp.

Bogut:

They only had seven guys active so we knew they were guys playing for their contracts and NBA lives. They came out and gave us good battle but we kind of need that. I think it’ll help us in the playoffs.

Coach Saunders:

We could easily have phoned it in. t’s encouraging to see the guys work hard. With our injury situation we basically played just seven guys.

Warriors 123-111 Mavericks

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 123-111. Curry scores 11 points, Thompson scores 21 points. Nowiztki scores 18 points and Chandler has 13 rebounds for the Mavericks. Coach Kerr on Warriors record:

Great scene in there, and I wasn’t really thinking about the significance of the record. Those guys were. They presented me the ball, and how lucky am I to coach these guys in my first year? Ridiculous.

Coach Carlisle on Dallas’ consecutive loses:

We don’t think it’s serious.

Igoudala on Golden State reserves performance:

We’ve got a thirsty bench. Really thirsty. I don’t know if there’s enough water.

Livingston on flagrant foul in Nowitzki:

He kind of sat back to create space with his lower area, and it was just bad timing. Eleven years in the league, I haven’t had a dirty play. It looked worse than it actually was.

The Warriors win 107-106 against the Suns. Curry scores 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Thompson scores 16 points. Bledsoe scores 18 points and 11 assists. Morris scores 17 points, 12 rebounds for the Suns. Coach Kerr:

It was probably good for us to feel that situation, and have to deal with the pressure.

Barnes:

Coach Kerr kind of looked at me after I made the shot like, ‘You messed up on those two defensive possessions, but it’s OK’.

Wright:

It was a tough one to swallow. We’re not quitting. We’re hanging on by a small, small thread.
