Cavaliers 95-93 Warriors Game 2

Match Report0 Comments

The Cleveland Cavaliers win Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors to tie the series 1-1. James leads the Cavaliers with a triple-double, putting up 39 points, 11 assists, and 16 rebounds. For the Warriors, Thompson puts up 34 points and 5 rebounds. Curry, despite having 19 points, is only 5-23 from the field. Curry:

Shots I normally make I knew as soon as they left my hand that they were off. That doesn’t usually happen. Mechanically, I don’t know if there is an explanation for it. Just didn’t have a rhythm and didn’t find one the whole game.

James:

I tried to give it all to my teammates. And they do a great job of giving it back to me. Total team effort. To be back in the same position we were in three days ago and to come back and even the series is big time.

Curry on concussion:

It was all minor stuff compared to how it looked. But I’ll get some good rest (Monday night) and be ready to go … since it happened to now, nothing has gotten worse.

Harden on Game 4:

I always want to take it out on my opponent in a good way. Just being aggressive, taking shots, getting to the basket, not really forcing anything and allowing the game to come to me.

Howard on possible game suspension:

I hope not. But there’s nothing I can do about it at this point. It’s never my intention to hurt anybody on the floor. My reaction was to try to get him off me, but I can’t react that way.

Warriors 115-80 Rockets Game 3

Match Report0 Comments

He’s had a brilliant season. The shooting is hard to describe because I don’t think we’ve ever seen anybody shoot the ball the way Steph does off the dribble, off the catch.

Curry on Game 3:

We understand it’s a special moment, it’s just we’re wrapped up in our day to day grind of preparing for games and going out and exerting all the effort we need to make this story happen. So it’s kind of hard to remove yourself from those emotions.

Howard on Game 3 loss:

We just can’t quit on each other. We’ve come too far. We’ve been through too many battles to just allow it to end like tonight … we’ve just got to man up.

These guys work their tails off every single day when you guys are not around. Yes, I’m a little bit surprised because of how we’ve handled the postseason so far. These are first-timers right here (Dellavedova and Thompson) as well as Kyrie and Kev before the injury. They want to be good, they want to be great, and every single day they prepare the right way.

On teammates:

I do everything for my team, do everything for my teammates. I want these guys to be able to feel this moment. That’s what I came back here for. I’ve got four guys that never made the postseason that played a huge role on this team.

Coach Thibodeau on Bulls:

Yeah. Until they tell me I’m not, I expect to be here. That’s the way I’m going to approach it.

Coach Joerger on Game 5 loss:

Everybody’s saying we couldn’t score because Tony Allen’s on the floor. We put up 78 without him.

Warriors 101-84 Grizzlies Game 4

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 101-84. Curry scores 33 points, Green scores 16 points and ten rebounds, Thompson scores 15 points. Gasol scores 19 points and ten rebounds, Randolph scores 12 points and 11 rebounds and Conley scores 10 points for the Grizzlies. The West Semifinal Series is tied 2-2. Coach Kerr on Game 4 win:

Tonight we took a step towards understanding that sense of urgency and kind of competitiveness and physicality to the game. It was probably our most competitive effort, definitely of the series, but probably of the playoffs just in terms of understanding you got to play every second.

Bogut:

This series could have been close to over if we hadn’t come out like we were supposed to tonight. You know it’s never over until the end, but being down 3-1 going home is a pretty tough task, so 2-2 right now in a three-game series and we like our chances.

Coach Joerger on Memphis loss:

We lost our composure early in the first half, especially in the first quarter. We needed to keep that closer in the first quarter. We had a chance there. Our offense really struggled tonight, and it put our defense in a bad way.

I have to play better for us to win games, especially on the road. I hold myself to a high standard. I haven’t reached it yet. So looking forward to the challenge of getting that level in Game 4, setting the tone and (it) could be a different outcome.

Coach Kerr on Warriors:

They’re learning. It’s part of the process. You see teams go through this all the time in the playoffs. It’s the only way to figure it out, to go through the pain of losing a game like tonight.

Allen on Golden State fans boos:

I just heard the first horn and I went out there. I thought they knew to run off the court. That’s the least of my worries.

Warriors 109-98 Pelicans Game 4

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 109-98. Curry scores 39 points, Thompson scores 25 points and Green scores a double-double (22 points and ten rebounds). Davis scores a double-double (36 points and 11 rebounds), Gordon scores 29 points and Anderson scores 10 points for the Pelicans. Golden States win West First Round Series 4-0.

Davis on Curry:

I knew he was crafty, I mean, a great shooter. There’s nothing you can do. You try to pressure him and run him off the (3-point) line and he’ll hit incredible shots in the lane. You back off so he won’t drive, he’s going to hit a 3. So you’ve got to pick your poison and he’s a tough player to guard. That’s why he’s (a candidate) for MVP.

Curry on Golden State sweeps series:

I’m proud of the way we played, the way we competed. Four in a row is a good feeling. We’re going to rest up.

Coach Williams on Curry:

What we’ve been through playing against Steph sometimes, it’s not fair. Steph is like, he’s on a different level – some of the shots he makes, his command of the ball, his ability to finish. The moment doesn’t bother him.

Warriors 123-119 Pelicans Game 3

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 123-119. Curry scores 40 points, Thompson scores 28 points Green scores a double-double (12 points and 17 rebounds). Davis scores a double-double (29 points and 15 rebounds), Evans scores 19 points and Barnes scores 11 points for the Pelicans. Golden State leads West First Round Series 3-0.

Curry on Game 3 performance:

You know how big of a deal it is to come back from a deficit like that in the playoffs on the road, in a game we knew was very important for us to really take control of this series. So I think we should celebrate the accomplishment.

Thompson:

We haven’t been in that position a lot this year, but mental toughness and resilience is probably (among) our best traits. It was an amazing way to finish the game.

Davis on Pelicans loss:

Against a team like this, you can’t relax. “You’ve got to keep being aggressive and we missed shots. … We’ve got to do a better job executing and following our game plan, especially late in the game.

Warriors 106-99 Pelicans Game 1

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 106-99. Curry scores 34 points, Thompson scores 21 points, Green scores a double-double (15 points, 12 rebounds). For the Pelicans, Davis scores 35 points, Pondexter scores 20 points and Gordon 16 points. Warriors leads West First Round Series 1-0. Curry:

I was locked in and focused the whole night. In those situations, you want to get the crowd back into it. There’s a weird kind of tension, especially in the second half when they made a couple runs. But in the playoffs, you have to expect anything. And whenever you’re on the floor, just try to make an impact.

Coach Kerr:

It’s good for us to have to deal with the feeling in the building, especially as a favorite, when a team starts to come back. You have to feel that. That’s all part of it.

Davis:

I think the whole team was nervous. This is our first time as a unit in the playoffs, and our pace was good. We were moving fast, but our minds were moving fast as well.

Warriors 110-101 Timberwolves

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 110-101. Curry scores 34 points, Thompson scores 23 points and Green has a double-double (13 points and 14 rebounds). Wiggins scores 17 points for the Timberwolves.

Coach Kerr:

It felt like we went through the motions a little bit. Maybe this is just two weeks of already knowing our position, I don’t know. We just weren’t sharp.

Bogut:

They only had seven guys active so we knew they were guys playing for their contracts and NBA lives. They came out and gave us good battle but we kind of need that. I think it’ll help us in the playoffs.

Coach Saunders:

We could easily have phoned it in. t’s encouraging to see the guys work hard. With our injury situation we basically played just seven guys.

The Warriors win 116-105. Curry scores 45 points, ten assists and Thompson scores 26 points. Aldridge scores 27 points, six rebounds and Lillard scores 20 points and eight assists. Aldridge on Curry’s performance:

He played like he wants to be MVP.

Coach Kerr:

He never says anything about it. But you better believe he wants it.

Lillard:

We tried to mix up our coverages a little bit because he came out making shots from everywhere. It pretty much just didn’t matter. He made shots with a hand in his face, off balance, deep, everything. He just had it going.

Warriors 123-111 Mavericks

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 123-111. Curry scores 11 points, Thompson scores 21 points. Nowiztki scores 18 points and Chandler has 13 rebounds for the Mavericks. Coach Kerr on Warriors record:

Great scene in there, and I wasn’t really thinking about the significance of the record. Those guys were. They presented me the ball, and how lucky am I to coach these guys in my first year? Ridiculous.

Coach Carlisle on Dallas’ consecutive loses:

We don’t think it’s serious.

Igoudala on Golden State reserves performance:

We’ve got a thirsty bench. Really thirsty. I don’t know if there’s enough water.

Livingston on flagrant foul in Nowitzki:

He kind of sat back to create space with his lower area, and it was just bad timing. Eleven years in the league, I haven’t had a dirty play. It looked worse than it actually was.

Warriors 107-106 Suns

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors win 107-106 against the Suns. Curry scores 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Thompson scores 16 points. Bledsoe scores 18 points and 11 assists. Morris scores 17 points, 12 rebounds for the Suns. Coach Kerr:

It was probably good for us to feel that situation, and have to deal with the pressure.

Barnes:

Coach Kerr kind of looked at me after I made the shot like, ‘You messed up on those two defensive possessions, but it’s OK’.

Wright:

It was a tough one to swallow. We’re not quitting. We’re hanging on by a small, small thread.

Warriors 110-106 Clippers

Match Report0 Comments

The Warriors wins 110-106 over the Clippers. Curry scores 27 points, Thompson scores 24 points, Lee scores 17 points. Griffin scores 40 points, Paul scores 27 for the Clippers. Paul says of Curry:

The man is tough. They run him off a ton of screens. Three of those shots I was in his chest and he still made them.

Curry:

I knew he was trailing and I thought I could make a move toward the basket and get some creativity in between,As soon as I saw him kind of go down, I knew I had to shoot it and just see what happened. You kind of get a little adrenaline rush because those are kind of cool moments. Thankfully, the shot went in. I didn’t see the bench’s reaction, but they said everybody was going crazy.

Thompson:

We weren’t playing that well but that’s what we’ve been doing all year: bouncing back.
