Jay-Z launches his streaming music service TIDAL at an industry event, #TIDALforall at Skylight in Moynihan Station in New York City. He announces his partnership with 16 other artists, including Beyonce, Madonna, Usher, Rihanna, Butler and Chassagne of Arcade Fire, Jason Aldean, J. Cole, Jack Wright, Chris Martin, Daft Punk, Deadmau5, Nikki Minaj, Coldplay and Calvin Harris, who formally sign a declaration of partnership. Tidal is the first service to offer ad-free music, video and editorial content owned by the stars who actually create it. The high quality sound service is available across iOS and Android devices, as well as in Web browsers and desktop players, in the U.S. and 30 other countries. I’ve been busy. Just making my way back to the stage has been kind of the greatest anticipation of this year and now I’m ready. I’ll be touring on North America in 27 cities and I’m really excited about it. This will be] like no other [tour] before. Twenty years of doing this, musically, I’ve graced every stage there is, but never quite like this. This is going to be a new experience that does not arrive based off of one album, or either the launch of this most-recent album, which I’m not finished yet. I’m still working on it. I just really want to get back on the stage. You see me playing the bass, you see me playing the guitar, you see me playing the drums. It’s just a different experience.

At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continues effort. As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist. What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs. What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.

As someone who completely lost their voice at one point for a year that people have recognized my music and there is an award there for it I appreciate it. This was a journey about finding a way to show my talent, and the nature of the sound and creating unique sounds and this was the opening of the shell.
