Offers McGregor part of his UFC share

Donation0 Comments

When Wahlberg, a minority shareholder in UFC, is asked about McGregor wanting a share in UFC he initially says he should pay his own way, before offering a share of his.

He’s gotta cut the check. Everyone’s gotta cut the check if they want a piece…You know what, as a matter of fact, I’ll give him a piece of mine ‘cos his is the face of UFC right now…He’s a hustler like me so there’s probably a lot of other opportunities for us to go out and make money together.

When asked if he would like to see McGregor in a film:

He’s a movie waiting to happen. Why not?

Meeting0 Comments

Trtrump-abeump and Japanese PM Abe meet at Trump Tower. Abe:

As an outcome of today’s discussion I am convinced Mr. Trump is a leader with whom I can have great confidence in…I conveyed my basic views on various issues to Mr. Trump but with regard to more of the specifics or details, because of the fact that Mr. Trump has not assumed the office as the president of the United States or today’s discussion was an unofficial discussion, I’d like to refrain from touching on details.

Trump:

It was a pleasure to have Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stop by my home and begin a great friendship.

Sonnen: McGregor pushing for Mayweather fight

Rumor/unconfirmed0 Comments

Sonnen says he has been hearing rumors that McGregor is pushing for a Mayweather fight, and that Dana White is open to the idea.

He does have a contract the [UFC]. Ultimately, he will need Dana White to be on board with whatever he wants to do as long as he is under contract with the UFC. Now, what Conor is telling people, and we are only as good as the information we are given, but Conor is telling people privately, he hasn’t gone public with it yet, but he is saying, ‘Look, with a win here tonight, should I beat Eddie, I’m going to take some time off and I’m going to do everything I can to get the boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.’ Allegedly. Now, again, the only person that can sign off on this contractually is Dana White – to come in and co-promote. Allegedly, rumour, Dana White is a little bit more open to the idea – to at least hearing what it is that he wants to do, instead of having a closed door. So, leave the speculation at that. I think there is some legs to it myself.

Rumour: Will take one-year break from UFC

Rumor/unconfirmed0 Comments

According to friends, McGregor is planning to take a one-year break from UFC after 205 to settle down with Devlin, his long-term girlfriend. He’s telling people he wants time out. It’s unlikely to be permanent, but the time is right to step back for a while. He knows that if he wins UFC 205 he can always come back in a year or two for a mega money fight. He could name his price. He’ll be back.

Requests to quit UFC

Resignation0 Comments

Aldo requests to quit the UFC.

I heard about everything that happened through my coach. He had spoken with [UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby Saturday and Sean still had no answer about anything, and asked if I could fight on November 12. My coach said that if it would be Conor, yes, and then Sean asked him if I would fight Max Holloway or Anthony Pettis. ‘Dede’ [Pederneiras] said that for those who I’d rather do a full camp and it could be on December 10.

We waited until Dana publicly said that he wanted this fight with McGregor to happen. And then we expected it to happen: I’d get my rematch to unify the featherweight belts, or I’d have my belt back and fight Holloway or Pettis, since Dana [White] said all the time that Conor couldn’t keep both belts.

But, to my surprise, I heard last night about the fight between McGregor and Eddie Alvarez, which was also denied by Dana last week. And to make it worse, he would keep the featherweight belt, and possibly having two belts at the same time.

After all this, I see I can’t trust any word from president Dana White, and who’s in charge of the promotion now is Conor McGregor. Since I’m not here to be an employee of McGregor, today I ask to cancel my contract with the UFC. After being fooled so many times, I don’t feel motivated to fight in the UFC anymore.

Conflicting reports about leg injury

Rumor/unconfirmed0 Comments

Coming after Dana White’s announcement that McGregor will not fight Alvarez at UFC 205, and reports that Alvarez has not yet signed the contract, Megan Olivi claims that McGregor will miss UFC 205 completely as his leg injury will keep him out of action beyond the event. However, other reports say that McGregor’s leg is fine.  If McGregor does not fight Alvarez he would most likely have to defend his featherweight title against Jose Aldo, or take on the potentially returning Georges St-Pierre. The official UFC 205 announcement is set for Tuesday 27th September.
