Claims McGregor threatened him with knife

Accusation0 Comments

Mousasi says that McGregor threatened him after his post-UFC 204 rant.

People liked it. I just spoke the truth. Sometimes you have to say stupid shit before people notice you. I got a private message from Conor McGregor. He was cursing at me, the little fu-k. He was threatening me. I said ‘What are you going to do with your 50 kilos?’ The fu-ker was threatening me with a knife. He knows I could beat his ass any day. I said some stuff that I didn’t mean. I said ‘People don’t know who the real fighter is or not.’ Of course, he’s a top fighter. English is not my first language and I just blurt stuff out sometimes. I thought it was funny that he was messaging me.

Accuses Russia of war crimes

Accusation0 Comments

President Hollande accuses Russia of war crimes in Syria, and says he wants to sue the country in International Criminal Court for their role in alleged war crimes over the Syrian city of Aleppo. Hollande also says he may not receive the Russian president who is scheduled to visit Paris, late this month, for a church opening ceremony.

I have asked myself that question: Is it useful? Is it necessary? Could we do something that pushes him as well and stop what they’re doing with the Syrian regime — that is to say the help they are providing to the Syrian regime, which sends bombs to the population of Aleppo? If I receive him, I would tell him that it is unacceptable, that it is bad even for the image of Russia. What I tell them, is that these populations are populations that are today victims of war crimes and those who commit those acts will have to pay for their responsibility in front of the International Criminal Court.

Requests to quit UFC

Resignation0 Comments

Aldo requests to quit the UFC.

I heard about everything that happened through my coach. He had spoken with [UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby Saturday and Sean still had no answer about anything, and asked if I could fight on November 12. My coach said that if it would be Conor, yes, and then Sean asked him if I would fight Max Holloway or Anthony Pettis. ‘Dede’ [Pederneiras] said that for those who I’d rather do a full camp and it could be on December 10.

We waited until Dana publicly said that he wanted this fight with McGregor to happen. And then we expected it to happen: I’d get my rematch to unify the featherweight belts, or I’d have my belt back and fight Holloway or Pettis, since Dana [White] said all the time that Conor couldn’t keep both belts.

But, to my surprise, I heard last night about the fight between McGregor and Eddie Alvarez, which was also denied by Dana last week. And to make it worse, he would keep the featherweight belt, and possibly having two belts at the same time.

After all this, I see I can’t trust any word from president Dana White, and who’s in charge of the promotion now is Conor McGregor. Since I’m not here to be an employee of McGregor, today I ask to cancel my contract with the UFC. After being fooled so many times, I don’t feel motivated to fight in the UFC anymore.

Conflicting reports about leg injury

Rumor/unconfirmed0 Comments

Coming after Dana White’s announcement that McGregor will not fight Alvarez at UFC 205, and reports that Alvarez has not yet signed the contract, Megan Olivi claims that McGregor will miss UFC 205 completely as his leg injury will keep him out of action beyond the event. However, other reports say that McGregor’s leg is fine.  If McGregor does not fight Alvarez he would most likely have to defend his featherweight title against Jose Aldo, or take on the potentially returning Georges St-Pierre. The official UFC 205 announcement is set for Tuesday 27th September.

Facing fines, suspensions for water bottle fight

Accusation0 Comments

McGregor and Diaz are accused by Nevada State Athletic Commission of behavior “detrimental to a contest or exhibition of unarmed combat” due to their water bottle fight at the UFC Press Conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. By comparison, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones were fined 10 percent of their purses after they got into a brawl in August 2014 in the MGM Grand. Jones paid $50,000 as well as doing community service; Cormier paid $9,000 and had to do community service for his part in the fight. As McGregor and Diaz made far more from their fight the potential penalty is higher. An announcement on the hearing date has not been released.

Bets he will beat McGregor by 2020

Donation0 Comments

Pimblett McGregor BetPimblett is given a £2000 charity bet from Paddy Power, with 5-to-1 odds that he will defeat McGregor before 2020. If Pimblett is successful, Paddy Power will pay his chosen charity, Fight For Autism, £10,000. Pimblett:

I’m not afraid of anyone. I’ll take them on, anywhere, anytime – McGregor included!

Paddy Power:

Paddy’s not a lad who’s short on confidence and we were more than happy to give him a bet on himself when his management team reached out to us. Given his talent he’ll be circling the waters with the big fish in no time, and should he beat McGregor it’ll sting as much as his right hook but a great cause will benefit.

Diaz coach: UFC 202 scoring rigged for trilogy

Accusation0 Comments

Diaz’s boxing coach says he scored the last three rounds to Diaz, and accuses the judges of prioritising a third money-spinning fight over objective judging.

If Nate wasn’t injured, McGregor would’ve got stopped. If it went another 30 seconds, Nate would’ve tapped him out because Conor was ready to go anyway. [Nate] was in good shape before the second fight, but the knee set him back along with the rib. He couldn’t train for the last three weeks. Nate couldn’t back out because he’d be sidelined and they’d have gave someone else the chance like they did with Dos Anjos…You can’t win a round by running. He was just looking at the clock. I knew that they were going to give that second round to McGregor, and the fight itself because I figure they wanted a third fight. A company just bought it out – they want to make more money. A lot of people know that he didn’t win that fight.

IS spokesman and head of external operations Abu Muhammad al-Adnani is pictured in this undated handout photoIslamic State says al-Adnani, one of its most prominent and longest-serving leaders, was killed in what appeared to be an airstrike on a vehicle traveling in the Syrian town of al-Bab, depriving the militant group of the man in charge of directing attacks overseas. US officials  stopped short of confirming Adnani’s death, as assessments often take days and often lag behind official announcements by militant groups.

Gene Wilder dies at 83

Death0 Comments

Wilder dies age of 83, at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Walker-Pearlman, Wilder’s nephew, says the actor had chosen to keep his illness secret so that children who knew him as Willy Wonka would not equate the whimsical character with an adult disease.

Overeem: McGregor, Mayweather lying about pay

Accusation0 Comments

Overeem says both Mayweather and McGregor say they’re making as much as they say they are.

My answer to that, to Mayweather and to Conor, let me see some bank statements. You can talk, you can say it, you can put it out there in tweets, but let me see a bank statement that says UFC wired X amount of money, because it’s always going to be this way. People lie. It’s the 21st century. Social media is fake…I’m from Holland. In Holland, we like to dress up, we like to do our thing, we like to be cool. But we what we don’t like is to have stacks of cash on the table and the cars. To us, in our culture — and in that respect I’m very proud to be Dutch — that’s just attracting problems, attracting difficulty…I’ve always kind of followed my own path. I do what I think is right. That brings me happiness. If I’m going to do something because somebody else is doing it, I see that as fake. Again, you look at these other guys and they’re making the stacks of cash. Who was the first doing that? Muhammad Ali was doing that. So you’re copycatting another guy.
