Colangelo speaks about the aspects of hiring a professional head coach for the USA Basketball team:
I think it’s kind of a neutral thing for me because on one hand I do know that there’s a little bit of jealousy involved and I think some organizations’ owners, managers and coaches would feel that someone had an edge if it was an NBA coach who got the opportunity to start spending time with all these players like we do. I can understand that, but it was like that way in ’92, ’96 and 2000 and 2004. Life went on. I do think this, USA basketball is an entity that is on the board controlled by the NCAA and the NBA, and I as chair kind of straddle this whole situation. I can build a strong case for saying different people should get different opportunities and we should kind of move it around a little bit.

Being versatile in the ring. I’m versatile in the ring. You look at all my films and my previous fights and I never fight the same style. I come in different. I can fight on the inside or outside, I can be a boxer or a puncher, I can just be a boxer, a slugger, I’m able to change it up and be versatile in the ring also. It makes it much more challenging. Also being a left-hander that’s not scared to fight. Not scared to throw punches and get in there and take a shot so that’s what Floyd respects too in the ring. It’s going to be a dogfight.

The main-event guy made the most money when he had the belt. When I was the (WWF) champion, I made the most money. It was an old rule that Vince (McMahon) Sr. had that, thank god, was passed on for quite a while. That changed when Bret Hart became champion; he’d work for a lot less than anybody else, so it changed everybody’s pay.
