Family admits drug abuse problems
In a statement family members say that their son had suffered from drug and alcohol addiction since he was in his early teens. They also stated that he used substances to self medicate his depression. In addition to marijuana, alcohol and several anti-depressants, Abdulazeez was taking muscle relaxants for a back problems as well as another prescription medication to help him sleep. Family spokesperson:
[Abdulazeez] suffered from depression since his early teen years and also fought drug and alcohol abuse, spending time in Jordan last year to help him clean himself up. He was self-medicating, deeply depressed and having a hard time working the night shift at his job.
Family blames depression
Abdulazeez’s family blame depression for turning their son’s actions. The family also say he was taking antidepressant medications at the time of the shooting.
There are no words to describe our shock, horror, and grief. The person who committed this horrible crime was not the son we knew and loved. For many years, our son suffered from depression. It grieves us beyond belief to know that his pain found its expression in this heinous act of violence.
More details revealed
Further details of Cosby’s four-day questioning for the Constand case deposition reveal Cosby describing how he seduced a young model by showing interest in her father’s cancer and promising women mentorship and career advice before pushing them for sex. He also acknowledges he paid off women to keep his wife, Camille, from finding out about his philandering. At one point, he is rebuked by the plaintiff’s attorney for his jocular attitude.
Lawyer: I think you’re making light of a very serious situation.
Cosby: That may very well be.
Victim’s attorney, Allred:
Cosby’s testimony demonstrates how deceptive, manipulative and disgusting (he is). It is no wonder that he fought to keep this deposition, which reveals his revolting predatory conduct, hidden from public view. But the truth is out now and it will never be hidden again.
FBI, DHS: motive unclear
Homeland Security and the FBI issue a joint statement:
We have no information at this time indicating that this incident was either inspired, directed, or assisted by individuals associated with an identified designated foreign terrorist organization. However, the FBI investigation into his activities while overseas and the nature and extent of his affiliation with FTOs (foreign terrorist organizations) is ongoing. We have no information to date to suggest that these trips [over the past year to the Middle East] were associated with any nefarious or violent extremist activities
Authorities seek to determine if the shooter was inspired by ISIS or a similar organization or was a “lone wolf,” attack, where Abdulazeez acted on his own. U.S. Attorney Killian says that although the shootings are currently being investigated as “domestic terrorism”, they are not as of yet officially classified as an act of terrorism.
No apology to McCain
Trump says that he does not owe McCain an apology saying that that vets are treated “like third-class citizens” and that McCain hasn’t done anything to help them.
People that fought hard and weren’t captured and went through a lot, they get no credit. Nobody even talks about them. They’re like forgotten, and I think that’s a shame, if you want to know the truth…I’m very disappointed in John McCain because the vets are horribly treated in this country. I’m fighting for the vets. I’ve done a lot for the vets.
He also says he received a standing ovation at the campaign event where he spoke, that nobody was insulted. On not serving in Vietnam:
If I would have gotten a low number, I would have been drafted. I would have proudly served. But I got a number, I think it was 356. That’s right at the very end. And they didn’t get — I don’t believe — past even 300, so I was — I was not chosen because of the fact that I had a very high lottery number.
Asked if he would continue name calling:
When people attack me, I let them have it back. People are constantly attacking my hair. I don’t see you coming to my defense.
Criticizes Pacquiao for skipping rehab
Arum criticizes the injured Pacquiao for missing a planned rehab visit in Los Angeles on July 4.and says he has no idea when the fighter might return to the ring:
As far as I`m concerned he’s not an active fighter and not been acting very professionally…Pacquiao was supposed to come over to see the doctor and for some reason he decided to cancel it.
Family offers condolences
Abdulazeez’s family members offer condolences and sympathy to the families of those killed.
We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the honorable servicemembers and police officers who were victims of the shooting our son committed on Thursday in Chattanooga, Tennessee— our community, and one we have loved for over twenty-five years. Our prayers go out to the victims’ families, friends, and everyone who is affected by this tragedy. We understand there are many legitimate questions that need to be answered. Having said this, now is the time to reflect on the victims and their families, and we feel it would be inappropriate to say anything more other than that we are truly sorry for their loss.
Criticizes McCain
After McCain calls his audience “crazies,” Trump criticizes McCain’s military and Senate record during a question-and-answer session at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa.
He’s not a war hero. He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, OK? I hate to tell you. He is a war hero because he was captured. OK, you can have — I believe perhaps he is a war hero. If a person is captured, they’re a hero as far as I’m concerned…But you have to do other things also. I don’t like the job John McCain is doing in the Senate because he is not taking care of our veterans.
Responds to Huffington
Trump responds to The Huffington Post moving him to the entertainment section in a statement that notes that he is “number one in the unimportant Huffington Post poll” as well as other polls, that he is number one with Mexicans in Nevada, and that he expects to win Iowa and New Hampshire, as well as leading a national debate on immigration.
If you have read previously written Tweets, Mr. Trump has never been a fan of Arianna Huffington or the money-losing Huffington Post. The only clown in this scenario is the huffington post pretending to be a legitimate news source. Mr. Trump is not focused on being covered by a glorified blog. He is focused on Making America Great again.

Quarter of veterans die waiting
In an internal report with the Department of Veterans Affairs says more than one-fourth of veterans are awaiting medical treatment, end up dead before they receive care. Of the 847,882 applicants that are waiting for enrollment, 238,657 of them have died. Representatives deny the claim, saying that the numbers have been artificially inflated because there is no way to remove former benefit applicants.
Perhaps, but it’s important to note that this information was leaked to the press by Scott Davis, a VA employee with a track record of blowing the whistle on the administration’s past abuses and neglects.
Frozen plains
NASA releases a close-up photo of an area in the center-left of the heart feature of a young craterless plain which they name Sputnik Planum. It has a broken surface of irregularly-shaped segments, roughly 20 km (12 miles) across, bordered by what appear to be shallow troughs, some of which have darker material within them, while others are traced by clumps of hills that appear to rise above the surrounding terrain. Elsewhere, the surface appears to be etched by fields of small pits that may have formed by sublimation.
This terrain is not easy to explain. The discovery of vast, craterless, very young plains on Pluto exceeds all pre-flyby expectations.
Flyover animation
NASA releases a flyover animation over part of Tombaugh Regio, the heart-shaped area of Pluto, and the Norgay Montes mountains, which are named for Tenzing Norgay, the sherpa who accompanied Edmund Hillary on the first successful ascent of Mt. Everest. The animation is created from images taken by the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) on the New Horizons probe during the Pluto flyby on July 14, 2015. Using photographs taken from just 77,000 kilometers (48,000 miles) away from the surface, the resolution is good enough that features as small as a kilometers across (0.5 miles) are visible.
Puts Trump in entertainment section
The Huffington Post says it will put news about Trump in the Entertainment section instead of the Politics section:
After watching and listening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president, we have decided we won’t report on Trump’s campaign as part of The Huffington Post’s political coverage. Instead, we will cover his campaign as part of our Entertainment section. Our reason is simple: Trump’s campaign is a sideshow. We won’t take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you’ll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette.
Ariana Huffington relays the decision on Twitter.
Obama: Attacks ‘heartbreaking’
President Obama condemns the shooting deaths, says a full investigation is under way, and says the Department of Defense is working to bolster security at all of its facilities.
It is a heartbreaking circumstance for these individuals who have served our country with great valor to be killed in this fashion. I speak for the American people in expressing our deepest condolences. We will be thorough and prompt in figuring out exactly what happened. We take all shootings very seriously.Obviously when you have an attack on a U.S. military facility then we have to make sure that we have all the information necessary to make an assessment as to how this attack took place and what precautions we should take in the future.
Invites Congress to tour ‘anthrax facility’
North Korea invites all members of the US Congress to tour the capital Pyongyang Bio-Technical Institute, a place that many weapons experts believe is being used to produce large quantities of anthrax, a banned weapon of mass destruction by the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention. North Korea denies the idea that they could produce anthrax in these facilities. National Defense Commission spokesperson:
Come here right now, with all the 535 members of the House of Representatives and the Senate as well as the imbecile secretaries and deputy secretaries of the government who have made their voices hoarse screaming for new sanctions. They can behold the awe-inspiring sight of the Pyongyang Bio-technical Institute.
Dutch investigators: Missile fired by separatists
Dutch authorities leading the investigation into the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 are convinced combatants based in the pro-Moscow separatist enclave of Donetsk were operating the missile system that killed 298 people last year. Chief Public Prosecutor:
The most likely scenario is that a BUK missile fired from [separatist-held] eastern Ukraine downed MH17.

Trump ‘fired up the crazies’
McCain criticizes Trump, commenting on his Phoenix rally:
It’s very bad. This performance with our friend out in Phoenix is very hurtful to me. Because what he did was he fired up the crazies…We have a very extreme element within our Republican Party. We did to some degree regain control of the Party. Now he galvanized them. He’s really got them activated. We’ll see how this plays out, but there is some anger in my state. People who otherwise might be more centrist are angry about this border situation.
