Ciccolo is arrested on gun charges after buying two pistols and two rifles from an undercover FBI confidential informant. A search of his apartment reveals possible bomb-making equipment including a pressure cooker, a variety of chemicals, an alarm clock, along with “attack planning papers” and “jihad” paperwork. An FBI affidavit says Ciccolo initially planned to travel to “another state” and used a pressure cooker bomb “to conduct terrorist attacks on civilians, members of the U.S. military and law enforcement personnel.” The FBI says the attack location was later changed to a town with a state university and would be concentrated on “college dorms and cafeteria, to include executions of students, which would be broadcast live via the internet.” Ciccolo says he was “inspired” by the Marathon bombing and the use of pressure cooker bombs, and tells the FBI undercover operative, “Allahu Akbar!!! I got the pressure cooker today.” He also said he is, “not afraid to die for the cause,” and that he characterized America as ”Satan” and “disgusting.”FBI:

This is a very bad person arrested before he could do very bad things

FBI agents say Ciccolo used the name Abu Ali al-Amriki and neighbors said he was a recent convert to Islam. He is being held at the Wyatt federal lockup in Rhode Island. According to the FBI, Ciccolo attempted to stab a nurse in the head with a pen during a routine screening, “leaving a hole in the nurse’s skin.”

Apperson  is arrested on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one count of firing a deadly missile into a vehicle. Apperson turned himself into police and bond is set at $35,000. Police said they determined Apperson fired his gun at Zimmerman without provocation. Zimmerman’s lawyer says Zimmerman was in town for Mother’s Day and was on his way to the doctor when he noticed Apperson following him. He made a U-Turn, and Apperson followed. Then, he said, he caught up with Zimmerman and pulled along side his truck and fired a bullet into the side window. Apperson’s lawyer.

We expected this as Mr. Apperson, under the advice of counsel and exercising his Constitutional right did not provide additional statements to law enforcement. He had already made statements and this is deemed sufficient, as of now. Mr. Zimmerman apparently did make statements and as such, it appears a decision was made to arrest on the basis of Mr. Zimmerman’s statements. That is neither unusual nor was it unexpected.

ICE turns Sanchez over to San Francisco authorities for an outstanding drug warrant. The agency requests an immigration detainer, but San Francisco — a city that doesn’t honor such request, believing them to violate Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures — releases him. San Francisco law says that

a law enforcement official shall not detain an individual on the basis of a civil immigration detainer after that individual becomes eligible for release from custody.

The chief legal counsel to the San Francisco County Sheriff says Francisco was let go because there was no legal cause to detain the suspect. The department would have returned Lopez-Sanchez if there had been a court order or warrant, but:

When Mr. Lopez-Sanchez was booked into the jail, there was no active Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) warrant or judicial order of removal for him.

Charges are dropped the following day, but Sanchez is held until April 15 while the sheriff’s office determine if there are no other warrants for his arrest and he had completed his federal prison sentence.
