For all of us who were involved with the national team in the ’99 World Cup Game, it was a lifelong commitment to being the best that we could be and to ultimately bring all of that into play during the entire tournament. When Briana Scurry (U.S. goalkeeper) made the block on China’s third kicker, I knew right away that we would win the game. We had already made three kicks ourselves and that was such a huge turning point. It just solidified the confidence I had, and I knew we would win.

Cavendish: race could be over
Cavendish, a member of the Omega Pharma-QuickStep team, crashes 200 meters from the line. Cavendish admits that he was trying to find a gap in the crowd of racers when he was involved in the crash with rival rider, Simon Gerrans. Cavendish has an MRI taken of the injured area, and a decision will be made as to whether or not he will race on July 6, 2014:

In reality, I tried to find a gap that wasn’t really there. ‘I wanted to win today, I felt really strong and was in a great position to contest the sprint thanks to the unbelievable efforts of my team. Neymar out
Neymar is carried off the field in tears after being kneed in the back by Columbia’s Juan Camilo Zuniga in the 86th minute of a quarterfinal game on July 4, 2014. Neymar was taken to a nearby clinic and released. Although he is not expected to need surgery, he is is unable to compete in the rest of the World Cup. Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar says:
He will not be in condition to play, he will need a few weeks to be fit again. He is very, very sad.
Sheamus vs Del Rio – U.S. title
Sheamus retains the WWE United State Championship in singles action against Del Rio. Sheamus pins Del Rio at eight minutes and twenty-three seconds to pick up the victory.
Love vs Kim – Knockouts Championship
Kim defeats Love in one on one competition on TNA IMPACT for the TNA Knockouts Championship. Kim scores the pinfall victory at six minutes and two seconds to claim the championship.
Money in the Bank WWE title ladder match
Cena obtains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in an eight man ladder match at WWE Money in the Bank. Cena grabs the title hanging above the ring for the victory at twenty-six minutes and thirty-five seconds.
Paige vs Naomi – Diva’s Title
Paige retains the WWE Diva’s Championship at WWE Money in the Bank by defeating Naomi. Paige picks up the victory via pinfall at seven minutes and two seconds.
The Usos vs The Wyatt Family – Tag Team Titles
The Usos retain the WWE World Tag Team Championships at WWE Money in the Bank. The Usos pin Rowan for the victory at thirteen minutes and twelve seconds.
Wins Money in the Bank
Rollins wins the Money in the Bank ladder match granting him a contract for a title match at any time over the next year. Rollins comments.

Young vs Lashley – TNA Title
Lashley captures the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on IMPACT by defeating Young in single’s competition. Lashley picks up the pinfall victory at nine minutes and eleven seconds.
Breaks leg on Star Wars set
While filming Star Wars: Episode VII, Harrison Ford breaks his leg in an incident involving the Millenium Falcon’s door. He is airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he undergoes surgery. His publicist, Ina Treciokas, stated
His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly. He’s doing well and looks forward to returning to work.
The injury is not believed to set the movie back on its release date. Changes have been made to the filming schedule and various tweets by those involved with the production have stated that things continue on at a good pace.
Wins Finals MVP
Leonard wins the NBA Finals MVP in a landslide vote. For the series, he averaged 17.8 points on 61% shooting. He also had the role of guarding LeBron James. Coach Popovich:

The San Antonio Spurs defeat the Miami Heat in Game 5 in order to win the 2014 NBA title. For the Heat, James puts up 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. For the Spurs, Leonard puts up 22 points and 10 rebounds, and wins the Finals MVP award. James:
We had a great first quarter, but from that point on they were the better team, and that’s why they’re the champions in 2014.

Spurs 107-86 Heat Game 4
The Spurs defeat the Heat in Game 4 of the NBA Finals and take a 3-1 series lead. Leonard puts up 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Spurs. James drops 28 points and 8 rebounds for the Heat. James:
They smashed us. Two straight home games got off to awful starts. They came in and were much better than us in these last two games. It’s just that simple.

I’m pleased that they performed as well as they did while we’ve been in Miami, and that’s about as far as it goes. Now we’ve got to go back home and play as well or better.
