Wrestling101.com interview
Backlund speaks about his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame:
I think it is going to be one of the most exciting nights of my life; I’m really looking forward to getting back into Madison Square Garden. I have made 72 appearances at Madison Square Garden, every one of them was an experience that I’ll never forget and I think this is going to be the climax of all those appearances.
4th and Pain interview
Kingston talks to 4th and Pain about being mistaken for NFL Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III in public.
I get a lot of RGIII comparisons. I’ve been stopped at several airports. People want to know… ‘Hey! Are you… are you RGIII? I’m just like ‘Come on man!’ We just have long hair. I’ve got dreadlocks, he has twists. They’re not even the same thing!
Associated Press interview
Johnson talks to Associated Press about wrestling John Cena again and balancing his crazy schedule never being too much to handle.
I never feel that it’s too much, because I’m aware of the plan. I put the plan together (laughs). But in that, comes really incredible challenges that require a lot of people to embrace the vision of it, to support it.
Associated Press interview
Cena talks to Associated Press about The Rock and people complaining about his part time schedule.
When he gets a small opportunity, he kicks the damn door down and owns the horse. Often times here, we have Superstars that remind me of a hamster on the treadmill and those are the guys that usually complain. I don’t take too kindly to them. I’m fortunate Rock’s here and I’m glad he’s here. He can show up whenever he wants.
Grand Slam Sports interview
Ross talks to Grand Slam Sports Undertaker and if John Cena will ever turn heel.
Last night, I was going into the show thinking that Rock won last year, so Cena will automatically win this year to even their big match rivalry at one apiece. But after last night, I’m not so sure that’s going to happen. I was intrigued that Cena’s promo was a little bit edgy. I thought, is that just the character, the persona, being what it’s cast to be, or is it the human being processing what I said earlier? We have to follow everything. We have to close the show. It’s game day for us. So I don’t know. It’s provocative to me because I try to stay away from all the creative stuff. I don’t want to know what’s going to happen.
Busted Open interview
Cole talks to Busted Open Radio about John Cena turning heel and three hours of RAW weekly.
John is the most wonderful human being on the planet. He’s one of these guys, I’ll preface this by saying he’s one of my closest friends in the business, but John has not changed in ten years here. John is one of these guys who has never changed who he is when he became famous. He’s the same guy that he was when he first walked in that door 10 years ago. He’s the same guy that’ll sit down in a lounge a chair and have a beer with you and put on some country music and shoot pool. He’s that way today just like he was 10 years ago. John does so much and you cannot overstate what John does not only for this company but for the charity organizations out there.
Ashbury Park Press interview
Punk talks to Ashbury Park Press about using Paul Bearer’s death in his storyline with The Undertaker.
Everything is designed to push people’s buttons – so it’s unfortunate that Percy had to die for him to be a part of this story – but trust me, he would have loved it, he really would have loved it.
Wrestling101.com interview
Sammartino gives his thoughts about his two WWE World Title reigns:
In those eleven plus years that I was champion I wrestled all over but some of the most memorable matches that I had were against the likes of, Killer Kowalski, Ivan Koloff, Don Leo Jonathan, Dr. Bill Miller, Gorilla Monsoon, and Hans Mortier who was also European and the list goes on. I had some big matches in Japan against Shohei Baba and we fought for over an hour many times, I wrestled guys in Australia, Mexico, and Spain.
NorthJersey.com interview
Ryback talks to NorthJersey.com about Wrestlemania and his match with Mark Henry.
You’re going to see two monsters going out there and it’s going to be a match unlike any other match on the card. I think at the end of the day it’s going to be a match people remember; Ryback lifting Mark Henry over his head Shell Shocking him and 70,000 plus screaming at the top of their lungs ‘Feed Me More’ with me.
Sports Illustrated interview
Big Show talks to Sports Illustrated about playing college basketball and Wrestlemania in New Jersey.
It’s completely different. New York and New Jersey fans are like no other fans anywhere in the world. It’s funny because New York is known for being competitive. New York likes champions. If you’re not pulling your weight, New York lets you know. Trust me: If you have a crappy match, New York fans will let you know right in the middle of it. They’ll chant boring. They’ll chant you suck. They’ll chantyou messed up. The pressure to do well is always a little bit higher in New York. But like anything, that pressure makes you better. So the only thing that I’m a little concerned about is the weather. Because, you know, I’m not wearing much. I’m wearing Spandex. It’s gonna be a little chilly out there.
Poughkeepsie Journal interview
Heyman talks to Poughkeepsie Journal about Wrestlemania, and today’s WWE product.
I’d say the global scale of it all. And the push to new screens that are still developing. People will say, ‘oh man, how exciting would have been to be around in the 1950s when television was expanding’ or ‘oh man, it would have been great to be watching in the 1980s when pay-per-view and cable television truly exploded.
KISS-FM interview
Kane talks to KISS-FM radio about Team Hell No and locker room jealousy over The Rock and Brock Lesnar.
When the Rock comes back, that takes to a completely different level. The interest he generates is mainstream. It’s beneficial, more so than anyone else can do, frankly. Any petty jealousies that there might be need to be set aside, because we all benefit. It’s like when people say I don’t like so and so because they’re in the top spot, and I’m like well I do like them because I get to work with them and make more money.
Comcast interview
Ziggler talks to Comcast part time wrestlers headlining Wrestlemania instead of full-time wrestlers.
It really pisses me off. But, it also is good business. Every year a part timer comes back, but there’s a reason that they’re back. Whether it’s the fans want to see them, if they’re a draw, if they’re a movie star, there’s a reason that they’re back. They’re not back just to do it. There’s business to be had. And it pisses me off and it motivates me a hundred percent. It makes me want to be that guy that they’re begging to come back.
Wrestling101.com interview
Santana talks about winning the WWE World Tag Team Titles in 1979:
My wrestling career got moving very quickly, I never would have expected to have gotten to New York as quick as I did especially when I didn’t have a wrestling family and I didn’t know anybody in wrestling when I got into the sport. My father wasn’t a wrestler I just came in, there were people that I knew like Terry Funk and Tully Blanchard but to get to New York and then to be teamed up with Ivan Putski that was a big shot in my arm, then we won the titles in Madison Square Garden, and whenever you do anything in Madison Square Garden it is an unbelievable feeling, and my career went from nothing to the top overnight.
Ring Rust Radio interview
Shamrock discusses a possible return to WWE:
Oh, definitely. I’ve tried to reach out, but I’ve been hitting some walls. I’m not sure if my messages are getting through or not. In my career, if you follow my career and watched everything that I’ve ever done from the time I was in high school to where I’m at now, I’ve always been able to reach the pinnacle. In football, I was able to win championships and go to bowl games in college, be an All-American linebacker and there were a lot of things I was able to accomplish. In my professional career, every time I jumped into an organization, I always reached the top and the title.
Monday Night Mayhem interview
Booker T discusses Wrestlemania and the WWE Hall of Fame with Monday Night Mayhem.
WrestleMania always starts the day after the previous WrestleMania. The build-up has been no different as far as the promotion goes, and you have to notice that. The fans are going to show up and it is going to be a great night of wrestling and a great night of entertainment.
Digital Sky interview
Kingston discusses WWE, tag teams and the PG era with Digital Sky.
As long as I’m winning, it doesn’t really matter to me. I have had the opportunity to have some great tag team partners. Between Punk and Evan and Truth, I mean gosh, every time me and Truth get together, whether we’re doing media interviews together or backstage, it’s just constant banter. We’re always just joking around and stuff. It was a very natural fit when he and I decided to team up.
Revelation Road
Sting stars as a street-tough biker in Revelation Road. The film centers around a traveling salesman battling personal demons on his quest home in a post-Apocalyptic world. Co-starring Eric Roberts, Brian Bosworth, Noell Coet and David A.R. White.
My character is a bad guy in a biker gang. Brian is the leader of the gang and we’re creating havoc everywhere we go. I’m a guy who’s had the short end of the stick his entire life so I end up in a biker gang. This is the story of the end times, a story of how God is trying to grab hold of each one of us and get through to us.
Adam Carolla interview
Austin appears on Adam Carolla podcast to discuss his early years in the professional wrestling business.
A guy had a commercial on TV; teach you how to be a pro wrestler. I always knew in the back of my mind that I was going to be a pro wrestler. My first college major was a business major because I was going to sell insurance with my dad. I figured that’d be the logical thing to do.
Shining Wizards interview
Van Dam talks to Shining Wizards about his time in WWE, ECW and TNA.
I am sure there was a reason. I don’t know why I wasn’t booked on the 1st ECW PPV. It wasn’t my job to make the matches. That was Paul Heyman’s. I am sure when he put the card together, he had a reason for not putting me on it, and I took offense to it. So I entertained the first offer that Eric Bischoff put on the table to go to WCW.
