Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson dies at 86
Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson dies after a short illness. The Rebbe says she had been feeling ill the previous night and was taken to the hospital. Shortly after she arrives, she asks for a glass of water, makes the blessing over it, and passes away. She is buried near her father, mother and mother in law Old Montefiore Cemetery, Queens, New York. The Rebbe:
Her first name was Chaya. That means life. And that is the name that will be inscribed on her headstone.That means it is perpetual even after the life of this person. Until the resurrection. I hope it will be soon.
Edgar Rosenberg suicide age 62
Rosenberg, commits suicide in a hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He overdoses on prescription medication. He has been suffering from clinical depression.
Why didn’t I pay attention to the signs? Why didn’t anybody? He was never really, really happy anymore.

Weinfeld Bettelheim dies age 72
Weinfeld “Trude” Bettelheim dies in Menlo Park, CA age 72. After forty-three years of marriage, Bruno is devastated. A brief live-in arrangement with a son ends when difficulties arise between them, and Bettelheim moves into a condominium, where he lives alone.
Moshe Dayan dies at 66
Dayan dies of heart problems in Tel Aviv at Sheba Medical Center. He is taken to the hospital around midnight due to chest pains and shortness of breath. Dayan is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter and five grandchildren. He is buried in in Nahalal, the settlement where he was raised.
Father dies at 31
At the age of five, the actress losses her father, British actor Richard Beckinsale, to a sudden heart attack. He was at the height of his career at the time and was a British household name starring in two English sitcoms: Rising Damp and Porridge. Richard was 31 years of age.
I started expecting bad things to happen, that friends will leave, that loved ones will die. It kept building until I had a nervous breakdown when I was a teenager.
Charlie Chaplin dies age 86
Chaplin dies of natural causes in his sleep at his home in Corsiersur-Vevey, Switzerland. Before going to sleep, a priest prays:
May the Lord have mercy on your soul
Chaplin responded with his last words:
Why not? After all, it belongs to him.
His wife and seven of their children are at his bedside when he dies. Lady Chaplin:
All the presents were under the tree. Charlie gave so much happiness and, although he had been ill for a long time, it is so sad that he should have passed away on Christmas day.
Dies in car crash
Bolan dies in a car crash in Barnes, London, on his way to his home in Richmond after a night out at a Mayfair restaurant. The 29-year-old singer was killed instantly when the car being driven by his girlfriend, Gloria Jones, leaves the road and hits a tree. Jones breaks her jaw and suffers from shock. The couple’s 20-month-old son was not in the car when they crashed.
Aram, who was following Bolan’s car, having been invited back to his house, recalls seeing the scene seconds after the crash:
As I came over the bridge with Richard [Jones (Gloria’s brother)] beside me, I can still in my mind see, so clearly, a purple car which looked like a little beetle. It was upright and it was smoking and there was a tiny glimmer of light from the moon, the night was so still. I said ‘we’ve got to get them out, this car might blow up’. I took my mother’s rug from the back of my car and put it on the ground. Some of the fans are comforted by the fact he was laid on a nice lady’s rug. I don’t think Richard thought Marc was dead, but I knew he was. Gloria was groaning and almost conscious. But Richard cried and said ‘please don’t leave me’.
Yonatan Netanyahu dies age 30
Yonatan (Yoni) Netanyahu leads a mission to free 105 Jewish hostages being held by members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in Entebbe Uganda and is killed in the raid. His body is brought back to Israel for burial at Mt. Herzl. He is survived by his parents, an ex-wife and two younger brothers. Benjamin Netanyahu:

Ben-Gurion dies at 87
Ben-Gurion dies at Tel HaShomer, Ramat Gan, Israel, due to the brain hemorrhage suffered two weeks before. Flags fly at half mast and thousands pay respects as he lies in state in the courtyard of the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, in Jerusalem. He is buried next to his wife, on the cliff overlooking the Zin valley, Sde Boker, Israel.
Father murdered
When Combs is only three years old his father, Melvin, is fatally gunned down after a failed drug deal due to being mistaken as a police informant. He is killed in his car in Central Park by a former friend and associate. Melvin Combs is a known friend to convicted New York drug dealer Frank Lucas.
They say you can’t miss something you never had, but that’s only a little ways right. There’s definitely been times as I’ve gotten older that I’ve missed my father – – his presence – – not being here.
Dead at 27
Morrison dies in Paris aged 27. He is found in a bathtub at his apartment at 17 Rue Beautraillis by his girlfriend, Pamela Courson. A doctor’s report states the cause of death is heart failure aggravated by heavy drinking.
Janis Joplin dies at 27
Just 16 days after Jimi Hendrix was found dead at 27, Joplin dies at the same age due to accidental heroin overdose. She planned to meet her fiancee Seth Morgan and Peggy Caserta, but instead, she is found face down in her room at Hollywood’s Landmark Hotel with fresh puncture marks in her arm. Her father, Seth Joplin, however, disagrees with the reports that the cause of her death is drug overdose. Seth Joplin:
Since her death, there has been so much speculation-and that’s all it is. The coroner’s report won’t be issued for two weeks yet. The newspapers said it was an overdose. They don’t know that it was. We were out there in Los Angeles and there were no drugs found in the room. There were some sleeping pills. There might have been an accidental overdose of those. No one knows yet.
Dies after party
Hendrix dies after collapsing at a party in London. He was 27. Police say there is no question of foul play. A number of sleeping pills are found at the house in Notting Hill Gate and are taken away for analysis. Hendrix was in London since cutting short a European tour with his band after bass player Billy Cox fell ill with stress and exhaustion.

Levi Eshkol dies at 73
Levi Eshkol dies of a heart attack (his third) at his official residence where is recovering from a case of the flu. He complains of chest pains, at which point a doctor is called but he dies several hours later. Eshkol is survived by his third wife and four daughters.
Dorothy Parker dies age 73
Parker dies of a heart attack in New York. She has outlived her friends and family. Her epitaph reads:

Jack Ruby dies age 55
Ruby dies of a pulmonary embolism caused by lung cancer in Parkfield Hospital shortly prior to when his second trial would have commenced. Parkfield Hospital is the same hospital where both JFK was pronounced dead and Oswald dies. He denies he is part of a conspiracy until his end.

Nhamodzenyika dies age three
Nhamodzenyika Mugabe dies due to a severe attack of malaria at three years old.
Moshe Sharett dies at 71
Sharett dies of lung cancer at Hadassah-Hebrew University Hospital. After being in and out of the hospital for several months he is reportedly doing well until he is hospitalized again, falls into a coma and dies. The family discloses his will that:
News of my death not be published through mourning notices in the streets; no eulogies should be delivered at my funeral and interment; I should be laid to rest in the old cemetery at Tel Aviv, next to the graves of Dov Hoz and Eliahu Golomb.
Winston Churchill dies age 90
Churchill dies in his home in London, nine days after a stroke induced coma from which he never awakens. He is unhappy with his failing health.
