Offered lead role in ‘Fantastic Beasts’
Redmayne has been offered the role of Newt Scamander in Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. Scamander is described as a “magiczoologist,” a person who studies magical creatures. Besides Scamander, there are four other main roles — two American girls and two American boys — that the studio is looking to cast.
Bangladeshi blogger hacked to death
A blogger critical of Islam is hacked to death when four masked men attack him, hacking him to death with cleavers and machetes, as he left on his way to work at a bank. Ananta Bijoy Das’ death is at least the third known killing of someone posting online critical of Islam in India. In each case, the murder was committed in public on city streets.
Injured in shooting
Zimmerman is injured in the face by glass fragments when Apperson shoots through his car windshield, near Lake Mary, Florida. An employee at a nearby business says he was exiting his car after lunch when a man drove up and started yelling about the shooting.
I shot George Zimmerman, call 911. I don’t have a phone.
The man, later identified as Apperson, told him that he and Zimmerman have had three disputes. This time, Zimmerman waved a gun and he man shot at him. Zimmerman did not fire any shots. Zimmerman is released from the hospital.
Defends NSA’s snooping program
Rubio writes an article in USA Today defending NSA’s phone-snooping program. He claims that there has not been a not a single documented case of abuse of NSA’s program.
The government is not listening to your phone calls or recording them unless you are a terrorist or talking to a terrorist outside the United States…There is not a single documented case of abuse of this program. Internet search providers, Internet-based email accounts, credit card companies and membership discount cards used at the grocery store all collect far more personal information on Americans than the bulk metadata program.
Guy Carawan dies at 87
Carawan dies age 87, at his home in New Market, after suffering from a form of dementia for years. In addition to his wife Candy, he is survived by his daughter, Heather Carawan and his son, Evan Carawan. A private funeral service is planned.

Portman is set to play Ginsburg in On The Basis Of Sex. The script, which follows the Ginsburg as she faces numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career.
Longhorn Bandit suspect dies
The man suspected to be the Longhorn Bandit, shoots an FBI agent then shoots and kills himself during the routine service of an arrest warrant. The agent is expected to recover and no others are injured according to reports. FBI Spokesperson:
Officers were looking for a suspected bank robber dubbed the “Longhorn Bandit.” The name came from video showing the man wearing a Texas Longhorns baseball cap during the robberies. . . The suspect fired two shots at law enforcement agents, who did not fire back. He then shot himself in the room.

A suspected bank robber shoots an FBI agent in the leg. He is being treated at a local area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. FBI official:
Any individual who commits a violent crime like a bank robbery, we are going to treat with great precaution, and unfortunately one of our agents was hurt today. Fortunately it’s not life threatening.
Drone kills Al Qaeda leader
Al Qaeda announces the death of one of their senior leaders along with other operatives by drone strike. A U.S. based security firm confirms this statement.
A senior al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula leader who claimed the group’s responsibility for the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the murder of an American hostage during a botched raid in December has been killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen.

On the way to recording an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Levine is attacked by a man who covers him in fine sugar. The attacker is arrested and charged with battery.
Errol Brown dies age 71
Brown dies at his home in the Bahamas. His manager says he had been suffering from liver cancer. He is survived by his wife Ginette and two daughters, Leonie and Colette.

Racist customer shot
Police release a video of Jehrardd Williams shooting incident in a Fort Myers, Florida, Waffle House. Williams is purchasing a meal when a gang of drunk white racist males start shouting racial slurs at him and another customer. After Williams refuses to shake one of the mens’ hands, the man punches him. Williams is then rushed by Dakota Fields who is then shot three times by Williams with his legally owned gun. The men flee and later crash their vehicle on the way to the hospital. Fields is pronounced dead on the scene by medics. No charges are filed against Williams.
Vonn, Woods split
Vonn and Woods, announce breakup after dating for three years.
Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship. I will always cherish the memories that we’ve created together, Vonn wrote on Facebook. Gives birth to daughter

Once I got the job on Cleveland Abduction my “what if” plan went in to action. Getting the job was, once again, very last minute but this time Sony organised my visa in anticipation of the network’s green light. I got the job on the Friday and was flown out to start the following week. My mother flew out with me and Nikita [daughter] and later my husband, Giles joined us and took over looking after Nikita. It was a family work adventure.
Family leave hospital
The royal baby, along with her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge makes an appearance outside the hospital just a few hours after the birth. After showing their new princess to the crowd, they depart for Kensington Palace where the Dutchess will recuperate for a few days before the family moves home.

Middleton is admitted to the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s hospital in London, and is in labor with her and Prince William’s second child.
David Goldberg dies age 47
Goldberg leaves his room at about 4 p.m. to exercise. After he fails to return, family members go look for him and find him around 6:30 p.m. in one of the resort’s gymnasiums, lying by a treadmill in a pool of blood, with a blow to the lower back of his head. He apparently had slipped on the treadmill and hit the machine. Goldberg still has vital signs when he was discovered, but later dies at a hospital in Nuevo Vallarta. The cause of death is severe head trauma and bleeding.
