Lee brought in to prep Mayweather for McGregor fight
UFC lightweight Lee confirms he has been brought in to help Mayweather prepare for his proposed super-fight with McGregor.
That fight with Floyd, it’s going to happen. Floyd’s management reached out to me a little while ago and asked me to be a part of the camp. So I’m excited to do that, I could use a couple bucks in my pocket, that’s for sure…It’s a win-win situation for [McGregor]. If he loses — which he’s going to lose, he don’t stand a chance in the fight — he knows it going in he’s just there for the cash grab and then he’ll come back and fight Nate, or he’ll bump up and fight Tyron, before he jumps down and messes with us real killers at 155. He ain’t stupid…It’s great for MMA, because it has no downside. It’s horrible for boxing, I ain’t gonna lie. And they’re paying me, so I better…(laughs)…but it’s horrible for boxing. I think it’s going to kill the sport of boxing, but the money is too large to pass up.
His prediction for the fight:
Floyd isn’t going to knock out Conor. Conor’s a much bigger man. I expect Conor to come out and try to sling Floyd around a little bit in the clinch, try to wear him down. If things get too hectic about that seventh, eighth round, he might start — I don’t know, he might start to rough him up with some elbows. I’m pretty sure Floyd’s going to have us prepare him for that — being able to throw him around, and maybe even kick him a little bit. You never know.

Poses with burglar after knocking him out
Amirkhani, who is based at SBG in Dublin, says he was hanging out with his family at home in Finland when they received a report via the phone that a friend’s house had been broken into and that their young son was hiding in a closet. He runs with his brother to the house, where they split up to try to catch the burglars.
All I see, because my brother went from the other side, all I see is two guys, they looked like Russians, and they were hitting on my brother. I thought that the other guy had a knife. It wasn’t a knife, but it really looked like a knife, and I thought that they are stabbing my brother. And I said, ‘Fuck, I don’t care, they can stab me too, but I am going to help my brother’. So they hit me in my neck and it wasn’t a knife, it was something to open a door, a lock. Then, when I realised that this guy didn’t have knife, I was like, ‘He is going to die now’. All I needed was one punch and this f-cking guy was lying on the snow. Then it was all over the news, and I took one selfie and put it on my Facebook. My cousin, he ran – he had a baseball, and he said, ‘Oh, it’s over. Well, it’s a good warm-up for [UFC Fight Night London].
The second burglar is detained by police. The child is unharmed.

McGregor inspires fan to lose 38kg in one year
A Dublin man says McGregor’s win over Aldo inspired him to change his life and transform his body over the course of 12 months. Thomas Nolan, 23, weighed more than 22 stone (139kg) in December 2015 when he flew to Las Vegas to watch the fight. Since then he has lost more than six stone (38kg) and started a new career as a personal trainer.
I went on a holiday to Las Vegas with my brother to see the Conor McGregor fight against Aldo. The journey there was a nightmare. I was so anxious, I felt like I was so close to having a panic attack the whole time. When I was in Las Vegas I had to go into a shop for obese people to find something to fit me. That was so demoralising. The night I saw McGregor fight changed my life. This guy, who is from just down the road from me, could inspire this whole stadium of people and Irish people across the world. It was amazing. He could do something like this and I was sitting in my bedroom every day, watching series after series on Netflix, eating just for the sake of eating. I knew something had to give.

MMA event turns into riot
A mass brawl involving around 20 men takes place at a mixed martial arts event in the Black-E Centre in Liverpool’s Chinatown after a man jumps into the ring at the end of a match and starts punching one of the fighters. Mobile phone footage show the attacker, in a black shirt, standing outside the ropes in one of the ring’s corners – suggesting he could have been trainer. As the brawl erupts, bottles are launched as people throw themselves over the ropes to join the violence. Many are hit by the missiles as they try to get out of harm’s way and the fight soon spills out of the ring and into the crowd. One spectator is shown holding a metal stand and swinging it furiously as brawlers kick and punch each other in a doorway. Others launch metal chairs at another group of fighters who appear to be standing the other side of the doorway. In one scene a man lies flat out on the floor while yobs throw chairs and a barrier stand at his body, before another fighter takes a kick at his head. Police say the brawl continued outside:
At around 9.05pm, calls were received of spectators fighting during an organised Mixed Martial Arts and boxing event at The Black-E venue on Great George Street. Various reports indicated that at least 20 people were involved and that bottles had been thrown.

McGregor meets with NSAC to discuss fine reduction
McGregor, along with his attorneys and manager, meets Bennett and Mantell of the Nevada State Athletic Commission in Las Vegas, to ask for a rehearing of punishment order for throwing a water bottle at UFC 202. McGregor has said that the punishment — a $75,000 fine, an anti-bullying public service announcement with a production value of $75,000, and 50 hours of community service — was too stiff. Chairman Bennett says he agrees with McGregor’s position and says the punishment should be reduced to $25,000 fine plus 25 hours of community service. The commission will hear McGregor’s request when it reconvenes on March 22. Once a settlement has been agreed, McGregor can reapply for a boxing license. Bennett:
I think it’s important that the public knows that the chairman, upon speaking with Conor, realized a wrong was done and he’d like to make it right. We don’t always get it right. We’ve made mistakes in the past. The chairman lives by example.
Report: McGregor reaches deal with Mayweather
The Sun reports that McGregor and Mayweather have reached a “multimillion dollar” deal. The paper reports that McGregor will finalise the agreement when he visits Las Vegas to film an anti-bullying video which is part of his settlement for the water-bottle throwing incident. SBG gym:
Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have agreed a deal to fight and have both settled on their respective fees. The contract hasn’t officially been signed yet because of a third party hold-up but all the details have all been agreed on. The fight could even be announced within two weeks.

Adopts orphaned twin sisters
Madonna adopts two orphaned twin sisters aged 4½ from Malawi. The father and uncle of the girls are witnesses to the adoption. Malawi judiciary spokesperson:
Their mother died a week after she delivered the babies in August 2012. After their mother died, the children were looked after by their grandmother, who could not fully provide for them, so they were taken into an orphanage. [Madonna] exuded happiness. She smiled while she was making her way out of the courtroom, and then she drove away with her new daughters. She has been involved in so many projects and is currently helping to expand the children’s ward at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. So Madonna has been coming to Malawi frequently. So it is not unusual to people in Malawi at all. They know Madonna very well in terms of the high-profile work she has done for the community.
