Concert attendee charged with rape
18 year old Sean Murphy, of Boston, pleads not guilty to a rape charge filed after concert attendees told officers that they saw a possible assault on the venue’s lawn at Urban’s concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Onlookers recorded the scene on their cellphone cameras. Murphy says that the act was consensual. The presumed victim, an 18 year old female, tells the individual who intervened that the act was against her will. Police:
Officers conducting the investigation were assisted by patrons that had been concerned and took photos and video of the assault on their cellular phones. Those phones are being processed to recover the digital evidence of the assault.

Nine new cast members revealed
During the Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con, HBO plays a video clip announcing nine new members to join Season 5’s cast. The cast members include: Alexander Siddig (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine; 24), Toby Sebastian, Nell Tiger Free, DeObia Oparei (Moulin Rouge!; Alien 3), Enzo Cilenti (Rome); Jessica Henwick (Silk), Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), and Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean; Brazil).
Gabriel Grammer born

Haris Suleman dead at 17
The Sulemans plane crashes over the Pacific Ocean. The Sulemans’ Beech A36 Bonanza went down shortly after takeoff from Pago Pago in American Samoa at about 10:15 p.m. Authorities were alerted to its location by signals from the flight’s emergency beacon system. The plane was found in pieces, according to a Coast Guard officer in Honolulu, with the body of Haris nearby. The Coast Guard say they are still looking for the father. Captain Tulele Laolagi:
We found a young boy still strapped to his seat. I think he was ejected from the plane, but it’s too early to tell.

List home for $3 million
Thicke and Patton list their home for an asking price of $2.985 million. The three-bedroom and three and a half bath home is located at the Bird Streets, an exclusive section of Hollywood. The house, built in 1965, was originally Thicke’s father’s home until he passed it down to his son. The home features views of the canyon and downtown and has a private pool and spa, a two-car garage and a gated driveway that winds up to a secluded cul-de-sac.
13 killed
A total of 13 Golani Brigade soldiers are killed in a single morning of operations in Gaza while brigade commander Col. Gen. Rasan Alian is moderately wounded in an exchange of fire and hospitalized in Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba. A timeline released by the Israel Defense Forces:
1:05 a.m., an armored personnel carrier catches fire after an explosive device is set off under it. Seven soldiers are killed. Reportedly, the APC was not fitted with armor that could withstand this type of blast.
1:30 a.m., a soldier is killed when two soldiers get into a firefight with terrorists.
5:45 a.m., another Golani force gets into a firefight with terrorists. Two soldiers are killed.
8:50 a.m., three soldiers are killed when a Golani squad is caught inside a burning building.
McCole Bartusiak dead at 21
McCole Bartusiak ‘s boyfriend finds Bartusiak sitting in her bed inside the garage apartment next to her parents’ Houston home, leading her mother to believe she had a seizure and choked. Before paramedics arrived, her mother starts cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Paramedics spent 45 minutes trying to revive the actress, but could not get a heartbeat. Bartusiak’s mother:
I’ve done CPR on that kid more than one time, and it just didn’t work this time
In the days before she died McCole Bartusiak had been suffering epileptic seizures, according to her mother.
James Garner dead at 86
Garner dies at the age of 86. Police find him at his home around 8:00 PM. No specific cause of death has been determined.
Faster Horses Festival rape
A 25-year-old woman claims that she was attacked by three men,when she was separated from her friends after leaving McGraw’s July 18th show that was held at the Faster Horses Festival. The incident reportedly occurred in the parking lot of the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Police say that the rape was reported at 12:10 a.m:
She was attacked in the dark near the parking area, and there didn’t happen to be anyone around in that parking area. She was taken to Allegiance (Health) where they checked for injuries, and a rape kit was done and sent to the Michigan State Police lab to check for DNA.
Rivera, Dorsey marry
Rivera and Dorsey wed in a private ceremony in Cabo, San Lucas, Mexico. The intimate event is attended by a few friends and family members. The bride wears a dress by Monique Lhuillier, while the groom wears a suit by Dolce & Gabbana. The couple exchange Neil Lane wedding bands.

Jolie and Pitt are set to share the screen once again in By the Sea. The upcoming dramatic film is written and directed by Jolie, who is also co-producing with Pitt. It will be the couple’s first time together in film since 2005, when they co-starred in Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Top AIDS researchers dead
Officials are reporting that a large number of world-renowned AIDS researchers and activists heading to an international AIDS conference in Australia were on board flight MH17. There are unconfirmed reports that there may have been 100 passengers on board the flight that were heading to the conference in Melbourne. Victoria Premier Denis Napthine says:
There’s been confirmed a number of senior people who were coming out here who were researchers, who were medical scientists, doctors, people who’ve been to the forefront of dealing with AIDS across the world.
Without confirmation, Napthine is unable to give the actual number of how many on board were heading to the conference. Among the dead is former president of the International AIDS Society Joep Lange, a well-known HIV researcher from the Netherlands.
Dies of heart attack
NYPD officer Pantaleo places Garner in a choke hold and he goes into cardiac arrest. Garner is declared dead at a nearby hospital. NYPD:
Garner suffered a heart attack and died en route to the hospital.
