Harper’s Bazaar interview

Margulies gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about balancing work and a family.

It’s tricky being a working mom. You feel guilt all the way around. You want to be there for your husband, be there for your kids, be great at your job, all that stuff. But at the end of the day, if you put everyone in front of you, what happens to you? I think all these 1950s Leave It to Beaver housewives suddenly woke up and went, What about me? Fuck you all. You know how hard this is? I’ve had dinner on the table, I’ve figured this out, and now you’re sleeping with your secretary? I do believe the balance lies in yourself. I can’t say I can do it all, because I can’t.

Highfield is asked four questions by Sky News Tech Talk. Why did Microsoft create MSN? How successful is MSN today? How will the online media landscape and MSN evolve going forward? and If you had to leave your job today, what three businesses would you start? On the latter:

The first trend is obviously mobile. We [Microsoft] have seen the explosion of mobile consumption of all our services. So something around the mobile, particularly in location services…like the next generation of Foursquare. On the web, highly-visual search…we are just at the beginning of a new journey, a different way of navigating and searching. And the trend that we are seeing with the launch of xBox Kinect, where we see a user interface that requires no remote control…That’s the beginning of a journey where natural language, voice commands and motion commands are going to be huge.

Izzo discusses losing to Duke in a close contest:

You think he’s a hell of a player, that’s for sure. Irving is a great player and we made him even greater than he is. I say that only because … he got 13 [points] at the free throw line. You can’t let that happen, that’s for sure. On that night, he played very well against a very good player and I think it was maybe more him than us. … I was actually quite pleased with our defense other than our turnovers which led to poor defense.

Perry discusses the first time he portrayed the role of Madea on stage:

There was a sold-out house at the Regal Theater in Chicago, and five minutes before the show, I put on the costume and stood at the mirror for the first time. I’m saying, Damn, are you really going to do this? Then the show started and I had no choice—they pushed me out onstage. Madea had a cane and she didn’t talk very loud and her voice was much deeper and she sat in one spot the whole time. But after a while, I finally had to move. And when I moved there was laughter.

Elle Magazine interview

Joel gives interview to Elle about what inspired her to write her single Notice Me.

I had a crush on this guy who was in my band (musician Cass Dillon), and there was a lot of tension. He was afraid to “go there” because of work, and I was getting frustrated, and that dynamic inspired Notice Me. He was my date at the premiere of my father’s movie (the documentary Last Play at Shea). I remember I was huddling in the corner of the after-party, and I just started to write it.

Streisand gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about writing her own autobiography in the future.

I think it’s almost time. These books about me are so stupid. When someone sends me one of them, if I have time, I look at the first page and I can tell whether or not the writer did his research. A minor detail tells a lot. Did he even visit the street I lived on? If he did, he wouldn’t write that I used to take the BMT into the city when it was the IRT. It’s silly, and yet all these fabricated and sloppy stories become your bio. I’m interested in the truth, and unauthorized biographies are not. Yes, I would like to correct those errors someday.

Krzyzewski speaks about what motivates him to keep coaching:

I love doing it. It’s not any type of set goal. I’ve never done that, like number of wins in a season. I want to win a championship every year. That’s there, but also for me, just coaching really good players. If you’re a teacher, if you have a great student, they motivate you. I’ve got two of the best kids in the whole world who are seniors, in Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith. And they’re warriors. And then I’ve got these young guys who are trying to learn from them and learn from us. You like being around the people you’re with. It makes it easy.

Williams interviews Minaj and questions her on why her father burned their house down.

No he did. It wasn’t an attempt, he did burn the house down and my mother was in the house. She had to like you know run out at the last-minute, but she had a dream the night before that the house was gonna get burned down. So she, me and my brother were not in the house. She had us sleep at a friend’s house.

Martin talks about an upcoming game against Virginia Tech:

I don’t know if I’m enjoying just getting dropped right in the middle of a volcano here, but it is what it is. We’ve got a young team and we expected certain things to be a little differently at this time of the year, but unfortunately they’re not and it is what it is. We’re going to light up and it’s going to be a great challenge for our guys.

Seigner gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about her career and working through her husbands arrest.

I really couldn’t work. I didn’t want to do a film. When my husband was arrested, I had just finished my album, but we decided to wait until February instead of November to release it. I couldn’t have promoted it while he was in prison; that would have been obscene. This has put us in a financial situation that’s not easy.

Calhoun addresses rumors that he violated NCAA rules and cheated:

Well, it is a hurtful moment. I think all of us, and you’re a very opinionated guy and so am I and we both believe what we do, we do to the best of our ability. Quite frankly, and I’m sure you’d be the same guy, every time you said something or did something it hasn’t always been right, but it’s at least always been what you thought was right at the time. … I said this from Day One, almost two years ago, that if we made mistakes, then that’s fine. We’ll get our report back in another month or so. The bottom line is we did make some mistakes, but I don’t think it’s anything hellacious and nothing that would constitute cheating.

Apologizes to Bush

In an interview with Lauer on The Today Show, West apologizes to Bush for saying he doesn’t care about black people

I would tell George Bush in my moment of frustration, I didn’t have the grounds to call him a racist. I believe that in a situation of high emotion like that we as human beings don’t always choose the right words.

Iman gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about meeting President Obama and the First Lady.

I met Mr. and Mrs. Obama years ago at Oprah’s Legends Ball. Oprah sat me next to Mrs. Obama because I majored in political science before modeling, so she thought we would have something to discuss. And then I went for lunch at the White House. It was brilliant Mrs. Obama could not have been more gracious or beautiful. She is very smart, and for me, the thing I most envy is her children. When is the last time we saw two girls that age at the inauguration, and their mother did not have to say, Sit still?

Investors didn’t get it, they said isn’t this like the rest of them? And we said, No, this is relevant, it gives relevant results

On succeeding in tech as a non-technical person:

Every step of the way, because I’m not an engineer, I’ve always made sure for every fund there’s a very technical person we can turn to…If you’re not technical you can be [the business] person

Perry gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about her good girl image.

I’m kind of a good girl and I’m not. I’m a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect. I’m a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That’s what the stories in my music do.
