Total Film magazine interviews Watson about biggest challenge of taking up role of Belle in live action remake of Beauty and the Beast

I sing, so that’s really unexpected. I’ve never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that.It gives me a different challenge, really. That’s terrifying in and of itself!

USC interview

Carter shares his story and advice with University of Southern California students. He talks about his lowest point:

It was a really tough one and a half years of my life… I feel, as a human being, you can only hit so many lows before you are at your breaking point. I remember this one point when I was driving my car… and I had to pull over, and I just broke down and cried my face out. And after I did that, I said “OK, it’s time. Let me get back to work”. It was just one of those moments when I had to pull it out of myself… I’m a firm believer you got to work your way out of these problems and you always got to do the right thing.

No regrets on Iran letter

Paul says that he has no regrets on sending open letter to Iran regarding the negations on nuclear deal in an interview with Beck on his radio show.

I don’t want just any old agreement, I want the agreement to mean something. Most of the sanctions [against Iran] were passed by Congress. The president can’t undo legislation on his own. This is this constant war we have with him that he thinks he can write or un-write law.

On Air interview

Seacrest interviews Elgort during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his role as Caleb in the film Insurgent.

In this movie, my character takes a big turn because both his parents are murdered in the first film. As a result, I think he’s really questioning what he should be doing. He’s on the run with his sister because she’s his only family left. He wants to try to kill the leader of the ‘evil faction,’ whereas my character believes the evil faction is the faction that has everyone’s best interests in mind. So you can sort of say that I’m the villain, but I’m not. I’m misinformed.

Time Out Hong Kong interview

Sheeran gives an interview to Time Out Hong Kong. He discusses talking to the media, the Brit Awards, and fame.

[talking to the media] is not too bad in places like Hong Kong, because people are very polite and not dinky [cheeky]. But in England, I’ve just learned to not trust journalists. I just found I was really pally with some of them, and we’d go out for drinks every now and then. And for the first four months there’d be no stories and then every now and then, something would pop up. I’ve just learned not to do it. Everything becomes a quote.

Rousey talks about breaking her previous 16-second record:

I didn’t think I could break it. I had a bet going with my coach and said, ‘There’s no way anyone is going to break 16 seconds,’ and he said, ‘No, you’re totally going to break your own record.’ We bet $10,000 on it, and the very next fight I beat it by two seconds. I owe my coach $10,000 now… I screwed myself over on that one!

On Eminem:

I have to keep in mind who would sue me before I get into any kind of confrontation with anyone. That’s why I spend all my time at the gym and never go to the club. If I went to the club and got in a confrontation with someone, that would cost me all kinds of money.

And Laila Ali’s offer of a future match:

If she wants to take me up on that, I’m around. She’s retired and has several kids. I understand why she’d think that because she has a size advantage, but if you saw my last fight it had nothing to do with size or strength at all. That’s not how I beat people. So you can’t count having a size and strength advantage as having a real advantage against me.

On Air interview

Seacrest interviews Big Sean during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his album Dark Sky Paradise.

It’s just cool to see it pay off. I really put my heart into and I put a lot of effort into it. It’s just cool, man, when you follow your heart and how it works out. The second I found out it was No. one I haven’t slept in days and I was exhausted and it was like I just got hit by lightening. Everybody kept hitting me up. I mean everybody. Even Kid Rock text me because we both put an album out on the same week and he was like, ‘You deserve it, man! Congratulations!

Seacrest interviews Derulo during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his album Want To Want Me.

I was coming off of a crazy experience. That was a point where I broke my neck and I had to cancel my whole tour. I was making music just for myself. It wasn’t planned for an album or anything because I was supposed to be on tour…So I was just in the studio doing me and that’s what came out. The album just had a bunch of songs that made you feel good because I needed to get myself out of the rut that I was in. So I was making music that made me feel good.

Vaughn talks about working with Nic Pizzolatto for season 2 of True Detective. The series of eight hour-long episodes focuses on a career criminal and three police officers who involve themselves in a conspiracy theory.

Nic is very unique because he writes literally every episode by himself. And it’s such adult storytelling. You investigate a specific culture and really climb in and explore it over a long period of time.

On Air interview

Seacrest interviews Vaughn during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his hand and footprint ceremony held at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre forecourt.

It was cool. Jon Favreau introduced me and we used to live just east of there in Los Feliz and Hancock Park when he came up and wrote Swingers. We used to walk around in Hollywood and the Chinese Theater is one of those places you walk by and kind of look at all the names and stuff. To be included in that the other day was great.

Claims ISIS membership

In an interview with WXIX-TV, Cornell claims he is a member of ISIS.

I’m with the Islamic State. I’m very dedicated to establish [sic] the Sharia in America, to wage war on the kafr (an Islamic term for ‘unbeliever’) and raise the word of Allah above all…I got orders from the brothers overseas because I’m with the Islamic State. My brothers over there, in Syria and Iraq, gave me specific orders to carry out jihad in the west, so I did so.

Cornell says he spoke with other ISIS members via an encrypted messaging service. They spoke about how they should raise Jihad in America and how they should go about forming sleeper cells.

What do I think is coming? Many things. There will be many, many attacks. Like I said, we are ready for the battle over the Capitol…We are pretty strong. Yes, yes. In every state like I said. We’re in Texas. We’re in Ohio. We’re in New York City. We’re in Washington, DC. We’re in every single state you can name, just about.

As we sit here right now, my son’s life hangs in the balance. When Whitney was found, he administered CPR to her and called me as he was standing in front of her saying, ‘Mom, why couldn’t I do it? I couldn’t get air into her lungs. He won’t let go of the guilt.

Wants to play Spiderman

Highmore says he would love to take on the role of Spiderman, although he hasn’t been ‘stoking any fires’ himself.

Obviously I would love to be considered. That would be fantastic. I guess we’ll just see how things go…You always feel like you can identify with him. He’s that kind of guy at school who wasn’t perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man – in this other side to his life.

The Talks interview

Francis gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses what makes music timeless, his relationship with music, and painting.

Yeah, I paint. Sometimes I paint my children. I have a studio that I paint in. I’m going to go paint in it today, in fact. It feels good on your brain. It’s very primal. People have been painting since people have been people. You put some color on your finger or on a feather or on a piece of wood and you make a mark on the wall, you know? You make a mark on a great stone. This is something people have been doing since before they were writing words.

Vogue interview

Lennox gives an interview to Vogue magazine. She discusses her Grammy performance and her PBS special.

Don’t you think that’s basically what a performer has always been doing? To me, it’s what I’ve done—I’ve used costumes, I’ve used lighting—but I think everyone has gotten so accustomed to grandiose performances with a ton of dancers, and it always has to get bigger and bigger. For me, to perform with an artist like Hozier was so just refreshing, because this young man is the real deal. So is Ed Sheeran. Ed can just literally walk on stage and play his guitar and sing.

Startup Grind 2015

Altman is interviewed at Startup Grind. He talks about how YC has yet to miss picking a unicorn company in the application process.

We track this obsessively through. We have custom software that just tracks this. There are a few companies that are doing pretty well but we have not yet missed a billion dollar company…The thing that makes me sad is I’m sure there’s someone that we would have funded that we didn’t, that had we funded, would have been a multi billion dollar company. Probably many of those. There are a lot of companies that we fund that if we didn’t fund them, they just would never have happened.

On raising capital:

Generally you want to raise capital either when you have to or when it’s really easy. If the company desperately needs money and they can’t figure out any other way, then they need to raise money. Or if someone’s offering you easy money on good terms, you should take it because you can use it for good things…We are the most successful when we fund things that other people don’t yet think are going to be a really big deal but two years later become a big deal,” Altman says. “And it’s really hard to predict that.
