Yamaha: Rossi did not kick Marquez

Makes Statement0 Comments

Yamaha issues a statement refuting claims made by Honda that Rossi kicked Marquez.

Yamaha would like to express its disagreement with the words that have been used to report on the incident between riders Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez. Both press releases included words that accuse Valentino Rossi of kicking Marc Marquez‘s bike that is something not proven by the investigation of the Race Direction. We therefore reject the wording used in the said published statements that do not correspond with the findings of the Race Direction. Yamaha has no wish to enter into further discussion regarding this unfortunate affair and our desire is to conclude the 2015 MotoGP season in the best possible way. We go to Valencia with the clear intention of trying our best to win what we hope will be a memorable final race with all riders and teams competing in an exemplary sportsmanlike manner befitting the top category of motorcycle racing.

Marquez: ‘I have never felt like this’

Makes Statement1 Comments

Marquez says he has never experienced anything like his recent troubles with Rossi.

During my career I have had many battles, but I never have I felt this. On that corner Valentino passed me, but then I saw he was completely straight and looking at me and stopping a lot. I was just waiting because there was nothing to do at that point and then I saw with his leg he pushed my arm and my front brake, and then I locked the front wheel and crashed.

In response to the accusation of deliberately interfering in the title battle in recent races:

You know I don’t want to be involved more in the championship. Valentino surprised everybody [with his comments], but I didn’t consider that because I just did my weekend [at Phillip Island]. Of course we can fight, we can overtake, we can have small contact, but in [Malaysia] until that moment we never had contact. I don’t know how inside the helmet you can think to push out another rider with your leg. I’ve never seen that. OK, I am very young, but I am disappointed.

His Dark Materials TV series announced

Makes Statement0 Comments

The BBC announces Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy is being adapted for television. The show will be produced by Bad Wolf and New Line Cinema, and will be filmed in Wales and broadcast on BBC One.

It’s been a constant source of pleasure to me to see this story adapted to different forms and presented in different media. It’s been a radio play, a stage play, a film, an audiobook, a graphic novel – and now comes this version for television. In recent years we’ve seen the way that long stories on television, whether adaptations (Game Of Thrones) or original (The Sopranos, The Wire), can reach depths of characterisation and heights of suspense by taking the time for events to make their proper impact and for consequences to unravel. And the sheer talent now working in the world of long-form television is formidable.

Admits she was ‘biologically born white’

Makes Statement0 Comments

After repeated questions by the hosts of The Real, Dolezal admits she is a white woman who was born to white parents.

I acknowledge that I was biologically born white to white parents, but I identify as black. Why not give me the right to identify, how I identify? I think we’re all entitled to be exactly who we are and to identify as such.

Under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith, Rowling, in an interview with the BBC’s Radio 2 Book Clubreveals she is writing a new children’s book. No word was given on the genre of the book or whether it is in any way related to the Harry Potter series.

I will definitely write more novels as J. K. Rowling. Novels in the plural, I have so many ideas in my head. I have an idea for a children’s book. Actually I have written part of a childen’s book that I really love so I’m definitely going to finish that.

Negotiatiating TV debate terms directly

Makes Statement0 Comments

Trump’s campaign says he is negotiating his terms directly with television executives instead of as part of a joint effort with his rivals. The move, coming just hours after his and other campaigns gathered in a Washington suburb to craft a three-page letter of possible demands, thwarts an effort to find consensus after what most candidates agreed was a debacle hosted by CNBC last week. The maneuvering by Trump and the other Republican candidates is being met with annoyance by network executives, who say they have little interest in altering a process they believe was settled months ago. Trump’s campaign manager:

I am very confident in Mr. Trump’s ability to negotiate the best deals with the networks, which will ultimately help all of the candidates in the race.

Mother’s death inspired movie

Interview0 Comments

In an interview on The Today show, Jolie says By the Sea is inspired by her mother’s death in 2007.

We can’t say what the whole film is about, but a lot of the film was when I went to visit my mom in the hospital, when she found out she had cancer the first time. She was going to have her ovaries removed, [and] was very upset, feeling like…they’re taking out her parts that were female, and there was a woman down the hall who was wailing. I later found out it was a young woman who had not had children yet, and that put everything into perspective.

She also talks about how her mother urged her doctor to take her ovaries removed.

We had some of the same nurses, some of the same doctors. So, the doctor that did my ovary surgery was my mother’s doctor. And apparently my mother had said to her, ‘Promise me you will take Angie’s ovaries out.’ So when we kind of got together, we both had a big cry, and she said, ‘I promised your mother, and I’ve gotta do this.

Honda: Data shows Rossi Kicked Marquez

Makes Statement1 Comments

Nakamoto says that, while video evidence is inconclusive, data from Marquez bike shows that Rossi kicked Marquez.

First of all, we would like to state that we believe it is very important to speak about the facts, not about assumptions. A fact is a fact and there is only one interpretation…It is clear that Valentino intentionally pushed Marc towards the outside of the track, which is out of the rules, therefore Marc had no other option other than to run wide. The data from Marc’s bike shows that even though he was picking up the bike trying to avoid contact with Valentino, his front brake lever suddenly received an impact that locked the front tyre, which is the reason for his crash. We believe that this pressure was a result of Rossi’s kick. The data acquisition from Marc’s bike is available if anybody from Dorna, the FIM or media want to check.

I know Marc well. He is a good guy, with strong and honest values. Marc was just trying to defend his position, as any rider would do, and we believe him 100%.

We respect the decision of Race Direction and don’t want to pass judgement if the penalty they administered was right or wrong. However, we do believe there was enough evidence to allow them to take a decision during the race, it was not necessary to wait until the end.

I see Michael very often and Michael is still fighting. Michael is a close friend, his family is very close to me and I am very close to them as well. We must keep him fighting with the family . I was very proud of what Michael did and sometimes you tend to forget what he did.

‘Don’t televise GOP debates’

Makes Statement0 Comments

Carson’s campaign suggests that future Republican presidential debates only be broadcast over the Internet, on Facebook or YouTube. The campaign also says the forums should prioritize lengthy statements from candidates rather than frequent moderator intervention. Spokesman Doug Watts:

We also think there are too many debates. They’re all bunched up and they really do take a lot of time away from the campaign and they take a lot of financial resources for us to be able to work on them.

‘Very serious’ about nurse violence

Makes Statement0 Comments

Flynn comments on The Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada report that says that between 2008 and 2013 there were more than 4,000 reported incidents of workplace violence against Canada’s registered nurses and licensed practical nurses that were serious enough to prevent them going to work. The Board says this is more than police officers and firefighters combined. Flynn says the province has launched a three-year inspection program, with the goal of bringing every hospital into compliance.

I think there was that cultural part of this that we’re trying to overcome, that if you became a nurse you…would be asked to go into a violent situation and there was potential for you getting hurt and that was OK. Obviously, it’s completely unacceptable. The law clearly allows us to lay charges (against hospitals) and we will lay charges where it’s necessary. We’re very, very serious about this. There has to be a consequence to not doing the right thing or to be told to do the right thing and deciding that you’re not going to.

Unveils plan to reform Veterans Affairs

Makes Statement0 Comments

Calling the Department of Veterans Affairs ‘a total disaster,’ Trump unveils his plan to reform Veterans Affairs health care at a rally in Norfolk, Virginia.

He calls for all eligible veterans eligible for health care at VA hospitals to be allowed the same care at any hospital that accepts Medicare. He says this would increase competition and decrease wait times. He also calls for ‘firing the corrupt and incompetent VA executives’, claiming his plan would end all waste, fraud and abuse. For returning veterans, Trump pledges to increase job training and to incentivize companies to hire them.

Under this plan, we’ll ensure the VA is spending its dollars wisely, not corruptly. I believe a lot of it’s corruption, personally. Nobody can be that incompetent… The Trump plan will clean up VA finances so the current VA budget provides more and better care than it does now. We’ll have money actually left over.

Trump also addresses how he would increase support to female veterans with all VA hospitals permanently staffed with an obstetrician.

Improves ‘real names’ policy

Makes Statement0 Comments

In a letter sent to organizations, Facebook says it is testing ways to improve its ‘real names’ policy, with changes coming in December.

Facebook users do not have to use their real names, but must use the name that they use in real-life. Some organizations fear that some users, including domestic abuse victims and those in the LGBT community, may face harassment if forced to use their legal name. Those looking to confirm their identity, without government-issued IDs, for instance, will have space to explain their situation to Facebook and, those looking to report users they think are using an improper identity, are being asked for evidence.

We want to reduce the number of people and to make it easier for people to confirm their name if necessary… It’s a balance to get this right — we want to find a line that minimizes bullying but maximises the potential for people to be their authentic selves on Facebook.

Fast Company interview

Interview0 Comments

Carter is interviewed by Fast Company. He talks about how to get investor approval:

Do the work. That’s as basic as you can possibly get. You can’t dream your way out of a problem. You can’t just dream your way into the business. You’ve got to actually put rubber on the road and do the work. If your job is to sweep floors, the only way those floors are going to get swept is if you put the broom on the ground. If your job is to code, you need fingers on the keys. So whatever it is you do, you actually have to do the work. You can’t just talk about it. You can’t be philosophical about it. You have to get the physical work in.

Post-debate interview

Interview0 Comments

Trump is interviewed after the debate.

Well, I thought that if you looked at Hillary’s deal a couple of weeks ago, the questions were much softer, much easier and much nicer. It was like a giant love fest. That did not take place over here. This was pretty tough. But, I would say that’s the way you want it to go…That was actually quite boring – this was more exciting.

Third Republican presidential debate

Debate0 Comments

At the third Republican presidential debate in Boulder, CO, hosted by CNBC, Rubio responds to a question about criticism from the SunSentinel newspaper for missing many Senate votes while on the campaign trail.

I read that article today with amusement… This is another example of the double standard that exists in this country between the mainstream media and conservatives.

Jeb Bush jumps in, comparing Rubio’s lack of voting in the Senate to a French workweek, adding ‘You should be showing up for work… or just resign’. Rubio counters:

You said that you’re modelling your campaign after John McCain… I don’t ever remember you complaining about John McCain’s vote record… The only reason why you’re doing it now is because we’re running for the same position and someone has convinced you that attacking me is going to help you.

Fiorina appears at the third Republican presidential debate in Boulder, CO, hosted by CNBC. She defends her record as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, says a minimum wage is unconstitutional, and calls out Hillary Clinton and President Obama on their policies towards working women.

It is the height of hypocrisy for Mrs. Clinton to talk about being the first women President, when every single policy she espouses, and every single policy of Barack Obama, has been demonstrably bad for women. 92% of the jobs lost duringBarack Obama’s first term, belonged to women… Three million women have fallen into poverty under this administration. The number of women living in EXTREME poverty is the highest on record.

Carson appears at the third Republican presidential debate in Boulder, CO, hosted by CNBC. He attempts to explain his flat-tax plan and says it is ‘total propaganda’ to suggest he has any connection to Mannatech, a nutritional supplement company. Responding to a question about how he reconciles being an opponent of same-sex marriage, with serving on the board of Costco, regarded as gay-friendly:

I believe our Constitution protects everyone… They (the gay community) shouldn’t automatically assume because you believe that marriage is between one man and one woman, that you’re a homophobe. This is one of the myths that the Left perpetrates on our society. This is how they frighten people and get people to shut up. You know, that’s what the PC culture is all about, and it’s destroying this nation.
