What’s so interesting that I didn’t know is that Parkland Hospital was a learning hospital. This is where the doctors went to learn how to be doctors. So they didn’t know what they were doing, and the person who would run that room would have been the head nurse. Can you imagine being an intern and you’re going there just to learn how to be a doctor, and in comes the president in such a tragic, tragic state, and not but three days later, Lee Harvey Oswald in the same hospital.

When I’m ‘dieting,’ I’m not eating as many snacks — because I love snacks. Popchips, Pirate’s Booty – or I could eat a pound of fruit. So I cut down on snacking when I’m trying to be healthy.

The first movie I did that was inspired by true events was Apollo 13. We had a preview screening, and the audience comment cards were great. I was very excited. But suddenly I came to one that marked it ‘poor.’ In big giant letters the guy wrote, ‘More Hollywood bullshit. They would never survive!’ I realized then that’s the beauty of a true story.
