Zelda Rae Williams born
Williams’s daughter Zelda Rae Williams is born in New York. She is William’s first daughter and first child with his second wife, Marsha Garces. Stages coup
Bashir leads fellow officers in a mutiny against Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi. The coup is also aimed at preventing the signing of a peace treaty with John Garang’s Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM). Bashir opposed the plan, which would have allowed secular law, instead of Sharia, in the south. He says in a televised communique that the coup is:

He claims himself chairman of Revolutionary Command Council (RCC) and signs a constitutional decree dismissing the government and other state bodies. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Spielberg directs the third adventure film in the Indiana Jones series. This time Jones is accompanied by his father—also an accomplished adventurer—as he searches for the fabled holy grail, which supposedly has the power to make people immortal. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery star.
The dad thing was my idea. The Grail doesn’t offer a lot of special effects and doesn’t promise a huge physical climax. I just thought that the Grail that everybody seeks could be a metaphor for a son seeking reconciliation with a father and a father seeking reconciliation with a son. It also gave me a chance to suggest Sean Connery. Who else but Bond could have been worthy enough to play Indiana Jones’ dad?

Walker runs for president of the student body against John Quigley. Walker runs on a 19-point resume. He urges cooperation with administrators and opposes sit-ins and protests. He hands out buttons that say “Beam Me Up, Scotty!” Slogans are sprayed on campus snowbanks with water and food coloring. The campaign also arranges a special deal at Lucci’s Pizza: Walker voters get extra cheese free. However, the election commission finds Walker guilty of campaigning a week early. His supporters are accused of stealing copies of the campus newspaper that endorses his opponent so students cannot read it. The day before the election Stephen Satran, Walker’s roommate and supporter, distributes a flier attacking Walker’s opponent. The next day the campus newspaper says Walker is unfit for president.
