Named co-presidents
Erving and Stiklorius are named co-presidents of Atom Factory by Carter. Carter:
J and I have a long history, dating back to 2000 when we co-founded Erving Wonder Management. He has proven to be an exceptional deal maker and music manager. Ty has been an incredible addition to the team. Her strategic thinking and creativity has given the company and our clients a tremendous amount of added value. I’m looking forward to having the two of them help grow and scale our management business.

Troy and I both grew up in Philly and have been friends since early on in our careers. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and what he has accomplished, and I am looking forward to adding value to the Atom Factory platform; whether it is in branding, technology, or management.

Atom Factory provides an innovative and creative platform for artists to thrive in, and I am pleased to partner with Troy and J to help lead the company in continuing to push the boundaries of what a forward-thinking artist management company can be.

Oz and Jovanovic welcome their first child Philomena Jovanovic into the world. The new addition arrives at at 10:03 p.m., weighing in at 6 lbs., 13 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches long.

Baldwin: LaBeouf was fired
In a statement to Joe Hagan, Baldwin reveals the reason behind LaBeouf’s hasty exit from Orphans. The actor corroborates that the two had “creative differences,” but goes on to say that the younger actor was ultimately fired. Baldwin says he knew one of them had to go and even volunteered to leave the play rather than LaBeouf.
I said, ‘I’ll tell you what, I’ll go.’ I said don’t fire the kid, I’ll quit. They said no, no, no, no, and they fired him. And I think he was shocked.

Graham announces that he is stepping down from his day-to-day role, and Altman will take over.
It has nothing to do with the current startup environment. I started trying to recruit Sam to take over back in 2012…I’m just not much good at running the sort of (comparatively) large organization YC is going to have to become. Sam will be much better at that.
He will stay on as an advisor and will work with startups at Office Hours.

Beyond Affirmative Action
In an article for Townhall.com, Carson says he believes that affirmative action helped provide him with opportunities he otherwise would miss.
I believe that I benefited from affirmative action. When I applied to Yale University, I thought my chances of being accepted were favorable only because I was somewhat naive about admissions requirements for a high-powered Ivy League institution. In my mind, I was pretty hot stuff. Only after I got to Yale and became cognizant of my classmates’ many accomplishments did I realize that the admissions committee had taken a substantial risk on me and that I had been extended special consideration. My early academic experiences were traumatic, and but for the grace of God, I would have flunked out.
And calls for “compassionate action” to account for difficulties that college applicants have faced in their upbringing:
Such a strategy demonstrates sensitivity and compassion, as well as recognition of substantial achievement in the face of difficult obstacles. The groups who benefit from compassionate action will probably change over time, depending on which ones have the greatest number of obstacles to overcome. The point is, it’s time to be more concerned about the content of character than the color of skin when extending extra consideration.
Montgomery, Sanford marry

Flees to Syria
Media report that Sharrouf was able to flee to Syria via Malaysia in January by skirting a travel ban placed on him. He boarded a flight at Sydney airport using his brother’s passport in place of his own, which was confiscated by authorities. New South Wales premier Barry O’Farrell:
