Resigns over offensive comments
Rap Genius co-founder Moghadam resigns after posting a series of annotations on the site’s copy of Roger’s 41-page manifesto. Moghadam comments include “beautifully written” and comments about Rodger’s sister:
Elliot barely mentions his sister Georgia throughout the book! Towards the end, however, he tells us that they did not get along and becomes extremely angry when he hears her having sex with her boyfriend MY GUESS: his sister is smokin hot
He tells Valleywag:
I was fascinated by the fact that a text was associated with such a heartbreaking crime, especially since Elliot is talking about my neighborhood growing up. I got carried away with making the annotations and making any comment about his sister was in horrible taste, thankfully the rap genius community edits out my poor judgement, I am very sorry for writing it

Wilson, Caspe marry
Wilson marries Caspe at the Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai, California. The couple exchange their vows in a traditional Jewish wedding service, officiated by her brother, Fletcher Wilson. Wilson wears a traditional Monique Lhuillier gown with lace sleeves and Jimmy Choo shoes. Wilson:

Graduates from Brown
Watson graduates from Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. In an interview with Elle, Watson mentions that people didn’t always support her:
So many people told me it wasn’t possible. I kept saying, ‘I don’t care.’ This is what I want. And graduating will, for me, be really symbolic of all of that. I will be there. And I will be throwing a huge party.

McPhee, Cokas divorce
McPhee files for a dissolution of marriage from Cokas. The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. A source close to McPhee says no outside parties ultimately played a role in the split:

Replaces Guy Pearce in Whitey Bulger film
After scheduling issues with Pearce, Cumberbatch is tapped to take on the role of Billy Bulger, Whitey Bulger’s brother and Massachusett’s State Senator. The project is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob written by Boston Blobe reporters Dick Lerh and Gerard O’Neill. This movie has been in the works since 2004 and will feature Johnny Depp in the leading role of the ruthless gangster.
Will star in ‘Yellow Birds’
The actor will star in the Iraq war-drama Yellow Birds, based on the 2012 National Book Award finalist by Kevin Powers. Cumberbatch will play an Army sergeant that takes two young soldiers under his wing. The book, based on Powers’ personal experiences in the Iraq War, has been called “the All Quiet on the Western Front for America’s Arab wars” by Tom Wolfe.
Reed, McDonald divorce
Reed files for divorce from Donald, citing irreconcilable differences and seeks to deny McDonald spousal support, according to divorce papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Her rep:
At the time their split was announced, they had been separated for six months but still working [together] on their debut album, I’m Not Falling. They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together.
Alijah Mary Wilkinson born
Wilkinson and Baskett welcome daughter Alijah Mary into the world. Alijah Mary is born via C-Section at Cedars-Sinia in LA.
I feel great and I am so happy. [The baby is] healthy with all 10 fingers and all 10 toes. She is great and did an amazing job.
‘My Rapist is Still on Campus’
In an article written for Time, Sulkowicz talks habout the alleged rape, the circumstances of the hearing, and her criticisms of Columbia’s processes:
Every day, I am afraid to leave my room. Even seeing people who look remotely like my rapist scares me. Last semester I was working in the dark room in the photography department. Though my rapist wasn’t in my class, he asked permission from his teacher to come and work in the dark room during my class time. I started crying and hyperventilating. As long as he’s on campus with me, he can continue to harass me.
I’ve lost friends because some people just don’t understand what it means to be raped. One friend asked me if I thought that my rapist would be expelled from school. I said, “I really hope so.” And he said, “Poor guy” because I think many men see rape as kinky sex that went wrong. They say girls are confusing and it’s hard to tell when you’re supposed to stop. When I was raped, I was screaming “no” and struggling against him. It was obviously not consensual, but he was turned on by my distress.
I think the school is pressured to find him not guilty because up until now Columbia could just push these things under the rug and no one would know. But that means the Columbia administration is harboring serial rapists on campus. They’re more concerned about their public image than keeping people safe.

Malik Bendjelloul dead at 36
Bendjelloul throws himself in front of an oncoming subway trainin Stockholm, Sweden, committing suicide. Police:
He jumped in front of a fast-moving metro train. It traumatized both the train conductor and witnesses. The SL [Metro Co.] is working with trauma and crises handling with the train conductor.
His older Brother, Johar Bendjelloul, says that he had been by his brother’s side “almost constantly” in the days before his death.
I know he had been depressed for a short period, and depression is something you can die from. But the question of why, no one can answer; it will ache in my chest the rest of my life.

But on this movie, I really wanted to do something where I didn’t have to check what color the hat should be or what city has the biggest rebate or what actors test the highest.

No Hajj travel ban
After a five-day inspection, World Health Organization experts don’t recommend restrictions on travel to Saudi Arabia, including upcoming pilgrimages, although two deaths and 10 more cases are reported today. In Jeddah, WHO and Acting Health Minister Adel Fakeih launch a kingdom-wide public awareness campaign, urging the public to do frequent hand washing and sanitizing as well as to avoid contact with eyes, nose and mouth. The experts recommend cooking camel meat until well done and avoiding unpasteurized camel milk.

Solange attacks Jay-Z
On route to the Met Ball Gala after-party, Jay-Z is physically attacked by his sister-in-law, Solange Knowles. Security camera footage shows Beyonce, Jay-Z and Solange entering the elevator with with a team of bodyguards. As soon as the elevator closes, Solange kicks and punches Jay-Z, who blocks the attack. She continues to shout insults and tries to hit him two more times. Beyonce stands against the wall with her hands clasped together.
Berkus, Brent marry
Brent and Berkus marry. The couple exchange vows in front of 220 guests, including family and friends. The ceremony is officiated by Sheri Salata. Berkus wears a J.Crew suit and Brent wears Saint Laurent; the two exchange identical gold bands from Van Cleef & Arpels.

Parker and Francine welcome son, Josh Parker, into the world. Josh was born hours before Parker helped the Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks 109-103 in Game 5 of the playoffs.

Star Wars: Episode VII cast announced
The cast for Star Wars: Episode VII is announced. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga – Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
