Jeter announces, in a 15 paragraph post on his Facebook page, that the 2014 baseball season will be his final and will be retiring from the New York Yankees:
I realized that some of the things that always came easily to me and were always fun had started to become a struggle. The one thing I always said to myself was that when baseball started to feel more like a job, it would be time to move forward.
Toy Story That Time Forgot announcement
Disney announces the Toy Story That Time Forgot television special that will air on ABC December 2 at 8pm. Hanks and Allen return to voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Official plot summary:
During a post-Christmas play date, the Toy Story gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It’s all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie’s room.
Retires from public life
The actor announces his retirement from public life in a post on Twitter. No further comment is made as to what this retirement will entail.

Intel CEO Krzanich announces the renaming of the McAfee brand to Intel Security. McAfee:

Confirms ‘Sandman’ project
Gordon-Levitt confirms his involvement in the movie adaptation of the classic comic book series, The Sandman. The actor makes the announcement via his personal Twitter account, in which he also mentions working with screenwriter David Goyer and The Sandman author himself, Neil Gaiman.

‘Curves’ program
Curves International, Inc. collaborates with Michaels to launch Curves Workouts with Jillian Michaels. The total-body workouts will feature the Curves Circuit strength training machines in conjunction with functional bodyweight-based exercises. The workouts will be offered at participating Curves clubs starting January 2014. The program will be “refreshed” on a regular basis with 12 new functional moves introduced each month throughout 2014.

Announces $75M+ tech fund
Carter, through AF Square, announces the formation of a new fund of between $75 million and $100 million, which will invest mostly in seed and Series A stages. He doesn’t say where the money is coming from, but that he’ll be taking the same approach with his investments as he takes with the musicians he brings in under his management. He describes his investment strategy as:

The schoolgirl releases her autobiography, I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban. The book is co-written with Christina Lamb, a British journalist. It details the Taliban’s attack on the school bus she was riding where she was shot in the head. The book also describes the life in Swat valley, Pakistan under the rule of the Taliban. Other details about her life include her father briefly considering becoming a jihadist when he was young, and her culture shock and eventual adjustment in the way of life in England.

Announces $100 ‘anti-NSA’ device
McAfee announces plans for a device, called ‘D-Central’, which would be resistant to government surveillance by creating localized, super-secure networks. It is the first product from his company, Future Tense Central. McAfee claims the device will be so effective that governments will be likely to ban its use. If this happens he promises to sell it in other countries, claiming “this is coming and cannot be stopped.”

Doctor Sleep
King releases a highly-anticipated sequel to The Shining following Dan Torrance as a grown adult being haunted by the beings of the Overlook Hotel from the hellish childhood year he had spent there with his family. Doctor Sleep also follows a group of traveling gypsies that feed off of the steam released by people who have the Shining as they are slowly tortured to death. While traveling on a promotional tour, King asked his fans for advice about two potential projects he would be interested in working on.
I mentioned two potential projects while I was on the road, one […] a sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep. Are you interested in reading either of these? If so, which one turns your dials more? [We] will be counting your votes (and of course it all means nothing if the muse doesn’t speak).

Conrad releases her sixth book titled Infamous. Infamous is the third book in Conrad’s series The Fame Game. The novel will continue to follow main character Madison as she films her reality show and tries not to get caught up in being famous. Conrad she is both excited and sad that she has completed this book series.
It’s good. I mean it’s exciting to finish it and you know it’s a nice accomplished. It’s a little sad because it means I’m done and this was a series I really enjoyed working on.
