VOC Nation interview

Kharma talks to VOC Nation about her time in WWE and if she has any regrets over her short time with the company.

‘Regret’ is a strong word but I’m pretty confident that, had I had a longer run, I would have had that belt across my shoulder. I’m extremely confident that would’ve happened.

How To Build Startup EcoSystems

Feld talks about travel, startups, and communities.

I would have traveled a lot more around the world when I was younger. I travel for work in the U.S. a lot, but I’m actually quite uncomfortable in much of the world other than Europe, because I just didn’t travel that much to other parts of the world, and I think that especially today, with the globalization of business, and the amount of entrepreneurship happening everywhere in the world I think that inhibits me because I’m uncomfortable and I’m a little nervous about it. There’s some places I don’t want to go to because it seems to hard at this point in my life.

On building communities:

I’ll put energy into a startup community without knowing what I’m going to get in return. It’s not altruism. I expect to get something back. But I don’t know what, in what currency, form whom, or over what time period I’m going to get something back…I’ve gotten back so much more by taking a give-before-you-get approach than if I had defined everything transactionally up front.

Seacrest interviews Rogen during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his date for the Hilarity for Charity event that he is hosting.

We made a contest where you could donate $10 and you enter a raffle to be my prom date. It made like over $100,000, it’s crazy. And I finally got my prom date, but I haven’t met her yet. I know she’s from Alabama, but I haven’t talked to her. I think I’m going to Skype with her today.

Alternativenation.net interview

Bischoff talks to Alternativenation.net about Randy Savage, Vince McMahon and comparing a Cena heel turn to Hulk Hogan’s in the 1990’s.

You’ve got to put everything in the proper context. There were no NWO shirts for sale before I turned Hulk Hogan heel. One disadvantage I had when I launched Nitro, compared to WWE, is that they had very sophisticated licensing and merchandise, WCW didn’t have any. This is one of the reasons I had to guarantee contracts, because if I didn’t guarantee how much money somebody was going to make, there was no chance in hell they were going to make enough to live off of if it was in part based on licensing and merchandising that didn’t exist. It is what it is, and was what it was, based on what I inherited, when I inherited it. But it was also an advantage, because I didn’t have to risk the same type of financial impact that for example WWE might be analyzing, ‘Okay, what happens if John Cena merchandise goes away?’ I didn’t have that challenge, because I wasn’t making any anyways. I had nowhere to go but up.

Newsday.com interview

Jericho talks to Newsday.com about his feud with Shawn Michaels in 2008.

Wow, what a story,” Jericho said. “Every week there was something new and monumental and cool. We had perfect chemistry, Shawn and I. And the storyline was off the charts, especially after SummerSlam (when Jericho accidentally punched Michaels’ wife in an angle). She really got punched. He and I were mortified about what happened, but in retrospect, it just took that angle to a completely different world. It was something you can’t plan… Obviously, it was the last thing either one of us wanted to happen. But she was OK, and we realized, that’s the best thing that could have happened.

Henry talks to Newsday.com about finally being given a World Heavyweight Title run late in his career and how he felt about that time.

I was fed up with mediocrity. I wanted to show strength that most people are afraid to bring out. It was hard for me to come down from that. I would leave the arena completely exhausted — physically, mentally and emotionally. I’d make myself angry to the point that it was sickening. And I realized when I started doing that, that a lot of it was real frustration. I was tired of being trivialized. I was tired of being made the butt of the joke. I was going to retire. I was tired of it. And when I voiced that opinion, with that kind of anger, it was like, ‘Damn, if you’re going to be angry like that, then put it in the ring. Don’t just say it. Do it.’ And that’s what happened. I started living it. And it was the best time of my career.

Busted Open interview

Edwards is a guest on Busted Open Radio to discuss TNA, tag team wrestling in today’s world and Bound for Glory.

You can’t force chemistry, you can’t force teams to work and build together. You got to have guys that are willing to work and that want to work together and tag together and have that connection and if they don’t have it, it is just not going to work.

Bloomberg interview

Graham and Livingston are interviewed together for the first time. They talk about the selection process for Y Combinator companies, how the best founder teams are genuine friends rather than people who are just working together, and why Graham stepped down. Graham on how to initiate a startup:

The best way to start is not to start. Don’t even start a startup. Start a project.

Livingston on whether the firm would consider follow-on investments in successful projects:

We never say never, but the problem is that is that there’s a signaling thing. Follow-ons would hurt the founders who are probably a great investment but that we just didn’t choose to do a follow-on with.
