Letterman Interview

InterviewStandup0 Comments

Williams interviews with Dave on the David Letterman show to promote William’s new movie Old Dogs but ended-up cracking jokes about Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska.

It’s wonderful, I went looking for her book and I found it in the fantasy aisle. With Sarah you get the feeling she was voted least likely to write a book and most likely to burn one. You look at her and wonder ‘Where did they find her, Project Running Mate?’

Duff plays recurring character Olivia Burke on the television series Gossip Girl. Duff’s character Olivia is a famous actress that attends NYU and hopes for a normal life as a young person in college, but ends up in scandal among the Gossip Girl characters. Olivia also becomes one of Dan’s—played by Penn Badgley—love interests.

I don’t think the character is based on a particular person, but her name is Oliva Burke and she’s been in a movie franchise … She’s had this lifestyle where everyone knows who she is. She’s been working for years and years and years and just wants to escape it all

Uncertainty

Film Appearance0 Comments

Gordon-Levitt stars in this indie drama thriller directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel. He plays Bobby, one half of a young New York couple who flips a coin to help them decide where to go on the 4th of July and whether or not they should have their unborn baby. They both experience two different realities that each take place in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The actor is joined by Lyn Collins, who plays his pregnant girlfriend.

It’s really different than my usual movie. They had written a script so the story was all very well thought through but the actual specifics of how everything was going to play out was sort of left up to the moment. The moments were left up to the moment. It allowed for just a whole new kind of creativity for me which, that’s what I’m in this for. I had a great time.

IAB Engage 2009 speech

Gives Talk0 Comments

Highfield gives a presentation at IAB Engage 2009. He talks about where the television industry is going.

What took the telephone 100 years to achieve mass market penetration, took the television industry 50 years. It took the PC industry barely 20 years. In the UK this year we reached a tipping point where there are more PCs sold than television sets…When low-end netbooks become ubiquitous and disposable the idea of receiving your video content through traditional means almost becomes absurd…Whilst TV has to change dramatically, video content has an extremely rich and monetisable future.

An Education

Film Appearance0 Comments

Pike plays the character Helen in Lone Scherfig’s adaptation of Lynn Barber’s memoir. Helen and her group of friends encourage a relationship between a 16-year-old schoolgirl and a con-man twice her age. Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard co-star.

I think my character really engaged people. They realized that I could be funny. People are so keen to pigeonhole you in this industry that to bust out of that is always good.
