Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel Rum Punch, is released on Christmas Day. The crime-driven story follows Jackie Brown, played by Pam Grier, a flight attendant involved in cash smuggling. She attempts to take off with half a million dollars of her boss’s money. Led by Samuel L. Jackson, the film also stars Robert Forster, Michael Keaton, Robert De Niro, and Bridget Fonda. On Samuel L. Jackson’s character:

Cast as Hermione Granger
Watson is cast for the role of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Watson recalls the audition as a happy accident when casting agents visited different British schools asking if they had any children who would like to audition. Her Oxford theater teacher recommended her to the agents and the producers were impressed with Watson’s confidence. After eight auditions, producer David Heyman told Watson and Grint that they had been cast as the lead roles of Hermione and Ron, respectively.

Mei Xiang is born in China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Wolong, Sichuan Province. Her mother was Xue Xue and her father was Lin Nan; both parents were wild pandas. Hudson, Robinson marry

Hartman dies with his wife in what appears to be a murder-suicide instigated by Mrs. Harman. Police finds their two children unharmed. Police:
We know for sure (Brynn Hartman) inflicted her own gunshot wound, and she apparently shot herself as the officers were in the house. Mr. Hartman had been dead for a while. He did not die at the same time that Mrs. Hartman apparently killed herself.
Frank Sinatra dies age 82
Sinatra dies age 82 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, after suffering a severe heart attack. His family is present with him at the time of his death.
Pol Pot dies age 72
Pot dies from heart failure. He suffers illness as he flees from those who wish to turn him in to the US government, only to die of natural causes. His wife and daughter are with him as he dies.
My only wish is that Cambodians stay united so that Vietnam will not swallow our country.

Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson is born in Beverly Hills, CA. She is second child born to Jackson and Rowe.

When I heard his album All Night Long, I dropped out of college and started playing seriously. His shit is weird North Mississippi dance music. He came up with his own style, influenced by local folks. He had the bravery to try something different.
Amistad
Spielberg directs this historical drama based on a true story about a successful mutiny that occurs on a slave ship leaving from Cuba. The men and women onboard the ship are captured on the United States, off the New England coast, and held as escaped slaves. A large portion of the movie plays out as a courtroom drama, showing the trial that occurred after their capture. Djimon Hounsou, Matthew McConaughey, and Anthony Hopkins star. They walked out of Amistad. I lost my whole family. All my young kids, you know. I wouldn’t ever show them the middle passage and I didn’t let them see the very beginning and they were bored by the legal stuff. They left.
