Sonnenfeld directs this crime comedy,based on the Elmore Leonard novel, about a gangster (John Travolta) who comes to Hollywood to collect a debt and gets involved in the movie business. Co-starring starring Danny Devito, Gene Hackman and Rene Russo. Sonnenfeld’s wife, Susan Ringo works on the film as a producer.
I was seeing a lot of really good things about Get Shorty when it came out, and my wife pointed out that if you validate the good reviews, you also have to validate the bad reviews.
Erwitt, Frankenberg marry
Erwitt marries his fourth wife, Frankenberg, an actress, film producer and a woman of considerable culture and social prestige. Frankenberg:

Batman Forever
Burton co-produces the third Warner Brothers reprise of the Batman trilogy, Batman Forever. They were amazingly warm, intelligent, humorous people. Hard to teach English to. I built a blackboard, which no other previous teachers seem to have done. With 12 monks in a room with an age-range of about 8 to 40, that’s quite important – and the reward-punishment thing of sweets or no sweets, or game or no game, worked quite well. But they taught me a lot more than I could possibly ever teach them. They taught me about the simplicity of human nature, but also the humanity of it, and the ridiculous sense of humour you need to live a full spiritual life.

Menachem Mendel Schneerson dies age 90
Mendel Schneerson dies at 90 years old after a long illness. He has been hospitalized at at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, since March 10 after suffering his second stroke in two years. In his last letter to one of his chassidim he writes his last words:

Jackson, Presley marry
Jackson marries Presley in De La Vega, Santo Domingo. The ceremony was private without any media present. The marriage is confirmed by Donald Trump at the Trump Tower in front of about 400 people who are waiting to see the couple. Presley:

Joel, Brinkley divorce
