Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song)
Keith releases his single, Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song), featuring; Arthur Thompson, Marcus Miller and Dave Coz, from his album, American Ride. Keith wrote the song as a tribute to his friend, Wayman Tisdale who passed away.
I reeled around there for two days in a stupor. He was a great guy with a charismatic smile, and the closest thing to Jesus I’ve ever met. There’s a line in the song that says, ‘You showed me how to live.’ He was a perfect, perfect human. I got up Sunday morning, realized I was just going to have to face it all – couldn’t believe that he was gone. We had gotten really, really close. I was the first one he would call when he would come out of surgery. He passed away on May 15. Anyway, I got up Sunday morning, called his cell phone to hear his voice one more time, I grabbed my guitar and sat down and wrote this song, and went in and put it on the album.
Baby One More Time
Spears releases her single, Baby One More Time, from her album with the same name, Baby One More Time.
Gold And Green
The group releases, Gold And Green, from their album with the same name. Bush:
You have to be honest about the pictures you’re painting. Songwriting is a balance between showing and telling. Some things you can show by describing, and some things you have to tell. If you show what it looks like outside, you don’t have to say you feel peaceful. [Christmas] makes for a whole different palette when you’re writing those songs. I just love that we got to do it… and that when given the opportunity, we jumped at it – five times in a row!
Temporary Home
The artist releases, Temporary Home, from, Play On. Co-writer, Maloy:
Carrie had had this thought that, I believe, she read about in a book that life is a temporary home. I think it’s an amazing song and feel pretty proud to be a part of the writing process for a song like that. I hear so many people talk about how they were so touched by it. I had messages on my e-mail, Facebook and Twitter saying, ‘This song helped me get through something traumatic.’ I think the song is great and is a beautiful three-part story about how [everything is] OK; this is just temporary, and you’ll get through it.
Who Says
The artist releases Who Says, from his album, Battle Studies.
Around the time I was making Continuum, I was having a little sex, and I was listening to Miles Davis’ In A Silent Way. I was naked and playing the guitar post-coitus. I was fiddling around with the guitar, and I went (singing) ‘Who says I can’t get stoned…’ And it was lovely.
Winter Wonderland

The band releases their song, Why, from their album, Unstoppable. Rooney:
It’s a story that you get in your mind as you hear the lyrics. My friend who committed suicide was 17, the summer before senior year. That second verse — “In my mind, I keep you frozen like a 17-year-old” — it’s eerie to me and it’s haunting. At the same time, it’s a poignant message for the youth out there, for the teenagers out there, struggling and contemplating that decision, which they shouldn’t make. That’s why this song’s got a lot of angst in it because it wants to let that [message] out of the bag — that’s not the answer. You don’t have to do that. There’s so much more in your life to live for. There are so many more people in your life that are going to be affected by a decision like that. That’s why I do love that song
The Truth
The artist releases The Truth, from Wide Open.
I just fell in love with the song and knew I wanted to cut it. It’s my favorite song on the album.

The artist releases Doesn’t Mean Anything, from her album, The Element Of Freedom.
The sound of it is very different – it almost feels like you’re flying. It takes you there. It has that piano, heavy-drum feeling. But the song touches you in this way. You dream of having all these things, you dream of going all these places. But what’s the point of doing that, having that, if the one you want to be there isn’t with you? Even though that sounds like a heavy feeling, the sound of it, it makes you feel inspired. To find where you’re going and be there with the people that you love – what else is life, really?
Cowboy Casanova
The artist releases, Cowboy Cassanova, from her album, Play On.
I think to every woman, this song would be telling a story about someone they know or met or has tried to pick them up in a bar. There’s definitely guys in my past, even if it was a friend’s boyfriend or something. We’re not trashing this guy; we’re just warning these other girls about him. Who knows, maybe now people can listen to this song and better identify these men. I’m helping women around the world!
Strawberry Swing
The band releases Strawberry Swing, from their album, Viva La Vida. Champion:
A lovely, joyous song. Guy (Berryman, bass) and I have managed to get more groove into this record than we’ve ever managed before. A bit more swagger.
Drumming Song
The band releases Drumming Song, from Lungs. Welch:
I f—ing love the drums. I want to be a drummer in someone else’s band. If you know anybody looking for a drummer, hook me up. I’ll find the time. The happiness I get from singing, I get from behind a drum kit as well.
Already Gone
The group releases their single, Already Gone, from, Love On The Inside. Bush:
I was really obsessed at that time with trying to see if we could redefine ourselves, or start a new definition of ourselves as musicians. When we started this band, Jennifer put her guitar down. And I said, ‘Well, why don’t you find a way to pick it up?’ I was really obsessed with the Faces and old Rod Stewart records, so I wanted mandolins and 12-strings – I wanted to write a song that way.
Straight Through My Heart
The band releases their single, Straight Through My Heart, from This Is Us.
We Weren’t Born To Follow
The band releases, We Weren’t Born To Follow, from the album, The Circle. Sambora:
When I recorded the solo to that song, I played a very melodic, kind of Beatles-esque break. That was the mood I was in. As soon as the song got leaked to radio, people went crazy, sending e-mails and Twittering and everything: ‘We love the song, but what’s with that solo? We want a rippin’, burnin’ Richie Sambora solo. So I said to Jon, ‘Hey, do you want me to change it? We got time. And John was like, ‘Sure. Go lay down another solo and we’ll drop it in the song on the album.’ So that’s what I did.

Keith releases his single, American Ride, from his album with the same name. The single represents life in the current times.
All it does is give you an entire list, a laundry list of all the things you see on TV, from Y2K, to Sars to Swine flu, to aliens coming across the border. From what’s going on on American Idol to what’s going on in the reality shows to Michael Jackson dying, just on and on, but I love my American Ride kind of thing.
