See You Again
Underwood releases the official video for the single from her album, Blown Away. The song first debuted on American Idol earlier this month.
See You Again was actually written for Chronicles of Narnia. When they asked me if I would be interested in writing for the movie, I got a couple of writer friends together, Hillary Lindsey and David Hodges. And we just wanted to see what we could come up with. It could have been something awesome, or it could have been nothing. We wrote three amazing songs in those four days that we spent writing.

People refer to [cocaine] as ‘Miley Cyrus’. My name is used in hip-hop songs to mean that, so even if I’m saying ‘Miley,’ people could still find something wrong with it.

It’s been amazing, because I know that it’s not my doing. Yes, I’m the author of the song, but the people are the author of all the success. When you say the words “big,” “huge,” and “successful,” what you’re really referring to is how the public reacted to something. Every time someone votes or requests or downloads, they’re contributing to the movement that Happy has become. They’ve pushed it to number one. The only thing I could do is make a song. But how many great songs are written every day? They’re not all promised this type of reaction. When you’re young and you’re doing it, you think it’s you, but when you‘ve been doing it as long as I have, you realize it can be great but there are sliding factors that move like plate tectonics. You’ll see them time and time again when you thought something was going to blow but it didn’t for whatever reason. I’m just really happy that the universe has conspired to give us this kind of moment and I intend to continue to be loyal to it. Just like Happy is not preachy, it’s just the information is there should you want it; that’s how I intend to do my music.

Little Bit Of Everything conveys a sentiment that’s always felt right to me. I connected with that from the first time I heard it. I ‘felt it’ and I loved it.
I gravitate towards the sound of a song and its instrumentation. On this song I was able to take the elements of sound that I’ve used before and blend them together into a fusion of spirit and energy.

It’s actually a love song about a guy telling a girl that, ‘Hey-no matter what I’m doing, anytime, I could be at a bar, I could be at a big show, and you can text me or call me, and I’m dropping my party and we’re getting together.’ I think it’s a cool way to tell a girl, ‘Hey, I’m diggin’ ya.

Pharrell and I were in the studio making a couple records, and then on the third day, I told him I wanted to do something kinda like Marvin Gaye’s Got To Give It Up, that kind of feel ’cause it’s one of my favorite songs of all time. So he started messing with some drums and then he started going ‘Hey, Hey, Hey’ and about an hour and a half later we had the whole record finished.

DONE. is a song that Reid and I wrote about a relationship where one person is giving all they have into it, and the other person is just taking it all in. I know the three of us have definitely had those kinds of relationships, where the person who keeps giving is just done with it. They’re not getting anything out of it, so they just cut it loose.

It has a strong social overview. We were heading into the end of [President Barack] Obama’s first term, and America was in recovery but still teetering.
