Gunmen enter Bataclan Music Hall

Terror Incident0 Comments

The gunmen enter the Bataclan Music Hall, in the 11th arrondissement, where Eagles of Death Metal are playing to an audience of 1000 people. They start shooting into the crowd from the balcony. About 100 hostages are taken. According to witnesses, some men try to bargain with the gunmen to let their wives leave the theater. Witness:

I have seen two terrorists, from my point of view, with AK-47 Kalashnikovs entering the concert room and firing randomly into the crowd. People yelled, screamed, and everybody lay on the floor. It lasted for 10 minutes, 10 minutes, 10 horrific minutes when everybody was on the floor covering their heads and we heard so many gunshots, and the terrorists were very calm, very determined, and they reloaded three or four times their weapons. They didn’t shout anything, they didn’t say anything. They were wearing black clothes and they were shooting at people on the floor, executing them. I was luckily at the top of the stage, on the front of the stage.

Hack reveals illegal phone records

Hacking Incident0 Comments

A hack of Securus Technologies’ cloud storage system reveals the company reveals over 70 million records of phone calls, placed by prisoners to at least 37 states, in addition to links to downloadable recordings of the calls. The calls span a nearly two-and-a-half year period, beginning in December 2011 and ending in the spring of 2014. The data includes up to 14,000 phone calls between inmates and their lawyers. Normally, prisons are allowed to record phone calls of the inmates, but are not allowed to record calls from their lawyers. ACLU:

This may be the most massive breach of the attorney-client privilege in modern U.S. history, and that’s certainly something to be concerned about. A lot of prisoner rights are limited because of their conviction and incarceration, but their protection by the attorney-client privilege is not.

Securus:

Securus is contacting law enforcement agencies in the investigation into media reports that inmate call records were leaked online. Although this investigation is ongoing, we have seen no evidence that records were shared as a result of a technology breach or hack into our systems. Instead, at this preliminary stage, evidence suggests that an individual or individuals with authorized access to a limited set of records may have used that access to inappropriately share those records…It is very important to note that we have found absolutely no evidence of attorney-client calls that were recorded without the knowledge and consent of those parties. Our calling systems include multiple safeguards to prevent this from occurring. Attorneys are able to register their numbers to exempt them from the recording that is standard for other inmate calls. Those attorneys who did not register their numbers would also hear a warning about recording prior to the beginning of each call, requiring active acceptance.

The vaccinations are much more dangerous than the illnesses that they treat. Nobody knows how the vaccines were stored or if the expiration dates were changed.

Health experts say anti-immunization activists and parents, some of whom include local doctors, are flat-out wrong, and that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the vaccines used in Ukraine:

(They believe) that a child should build up his or her immunity in a natural environment, that the immune system should work itself out by being exposed to illnesses. They don’t understand how serious these diseases are.

Plane diverts to save dog

Travel incident0 Comments

Air Canads bulldog diversionAn Air Canada flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto is diverted to Frankfurt when the pilot notices a problem with the cargo area’s heating system. The action saves the life of a seven-year-old  French bulldog, named Simba and causes a delay of about 75 minutes for the original flight’s passengers. Simba’s owner:

It’s my dog, it’s like (my) child. It’s everything.

Air Canada:

As soon as the crew became aware of the temperature issue, the captain grew rightfully concerned for the dog’s comfort and well-being. With the altitude it can become very uncomfortable, and possibly the situation could have been life-threatening if the flight had continued. While we recognize this was an inconvenience for our customers, the overall reaction was positive, particularly once people understood the dog was in potential danger but safe as a result of the diversion. The captain is responsible for all lives on board.
