Accuse Cosby of sexual assault

AccusationPress Conference0 Comments

Welles and Shapiro have come forward claiming comedian Bill Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them while they were teenagers. Welles said she was a 17-year-old aspiring singer when she met Cosby in Hollywood. Welles:

He was a star. He was Bill Cosby and I buried it in my memory until all of these brave women began to come forward.

Shapiro said when she met Cosby, she was 19 and working at a donut shop in Santa Monica. She claims Cosby drove her to his place, where she took a box of matches inscribed with his name. They went to the Playboy mansion, and she took a pill after losing a bet with Cosby. She reportedly woke up with him (Bill Cosby) laying on top of her, sexually assaulting her. Shapiro presented the box of matches as evidence during the press conference.

Apologizes to police

Apology0 Comments

Henson apologizes to the Glendale Police Department for her allegations that the police had racially profiled her son.

I would like to publicly apologize to the officer and the Glendale Police Department. A mother’s job is not easy and neither is a police officer’s. Sometimes as humans WE over react without gathering all of the facts. As a mother in this case I over reacted and for that I apologize. Thank you to that officer for being kind to my son.

Makes Statement0 Comments

Gowdy claims that Clinton wiped her email server clean and refuses to turn it over to an independent third party for investigation.

Claims he intended to return to base

Interview0 Comments

Bergdahl tells investigators he left his base to report on misconduct in his unit and that he had intended to come right back. His lawyer plans to argue that Bergdahl was AWOL rather than a deserter. The difference in terminology could spare Bergdahl from receiving a life sentence.

He had concerns about certain conditions in the unit and things that happened in the unit and he figured that the only way to get any attention to them would be to get that information to a general officer.

Not filing charges

Makes Statement0 Comments

Tymon decides not to file charges against Clarkson for punching him in face.

I’ve worked on Top Gear for almost a decade, a program I love. Over that time Jeremy and I had a positive and successful working relationship, making some landmark projects together. He is a unique talent, and I am well aware that many will be sorry his involvement in the show should end in this way.

Tymon’s lawyer:

The events of the last few weeks have been extremely unpleasant for everyone involved. The matter has taken a great toll on Oisin, his family and his friends….Quite simply, Mr Tymon just wishes to return now to the job at the BBC he loves, as soon as possible. Further, the BBC have, in his view, taken action with a view to addressing the issues at hand. Mr Tymon agrees with the BBC’s stated view that all parties should now be allowed to move on, so far as possible.

On Air interview

Interview0 Comments

Seacrest interviews Jonas during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about hosting the Kids Choice Awards and being the shows opening performer.

It’s pretty wild. The people from Nickelodeon love slime more than anything else in the world. And they love watching people having to kind of deal with it afterwards. I’m going to be singing Chains and it’s a really incredible open to the show. I don’t want to give anything away, but I am sort of integrated in the beginning in some way. So be watching from the start. This is obviously going to be the biggest and best night of music. I’m thrilled to be a part of the show.

My wife opened the letter and handed it to me. At first I didn’t know what it was, but when it hit me, it put a tear in my eye. Even after he passed, he was still all about his players.

‘Co-pilot crashed plane deliberately’

Makes Statement0 Comments

French Prosecutor Brice Robin claims that Lubitz, the co-pilot, crashed the plane deliberately.

While the co-pilot was alone he locked the door and engaged a system which started the descent of the plane. This can only be done voluntarily….The co-pilot didn’t say a single word while he was alone and could be heard breathing normally. It wasn’t the breath of someone who was struggling. He didn’t say a single word, it was total silence.

‘He tried to Cosby me’

Interview0 Comments

Handler talks about avoiding being victimized by Cosby when he invited her to his hotel room in an interview to Esquire magazine.

Not poor guy—he tried to Cosby me. Oh, I was in Atlantic City playing, doing stand-up, and he was doing stand-up in Atlantic City in the same hotel, and at like three o’clock in the afternoon, someone from the hotel came down and said, “Oh, you know, Mr. Cosby would really like to meet you up in his hotel suite.” And I thought, That’s really weird. This was like ten years ago. And I said, That’s really weird. I don’t want to go alone. I go, I don’t know him. So the three guys I was with—thank God these guys were with me. One was filming and one was like a producer; we were filming something— I brought them up with me to his room and thank God I did, because now I know what would’ve happened if I went up there alone. And I forgot about it when all the stories about Bill Cosby came out. I was like, I didn’t even think of it. Then my friend texted me the other day saying, “Do you remember that night we went up to, or that afternoon we went up to Bill Cosby’s and you were so freaked out you made us come with you?” And I said, Yeah, and he said, “Hello! You could’ve been one of his victims if we weren’t there.” And I went, “Oh my gosh . . .” Yeah, so yeah, he’s guilty… I think it’s pretty obvious now.

Elle Magazine interview

Interview0 Comments

Elle Magazine interviews Jones about why she posts childhood photos of herself on social media.

I was at my most confident as a kid. It actually wasn’t until I got into high school and started to get quote-unquote pretty that my confidence started to disappear. I want to give the message that girls can be proud and self-assured no matter what funky haircut they have.

On Air interview

Interview0 Comments

Seacrest interviews Amoruso during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about her Nasty Gal line.

Nothing that I sold on Nasty Gal was stolen. Stealing was when I was pre-deciding to be an entrepreneur. I was like, I don’t like working for other people, f- the system. I’m going to steal CDs from Starbucks and sell them on Amazon. I guess that was like my first foray into entrepreneur-ism and the first stuff I did sell online was stolen. But it was long before I started Nasty Gal, and I learned the hardest way that that doesn’t pay off.

Leaves Fifty Shades

Interview0 Comments

Taylor-Johnson announces she will not return to direct the sequels.

Directing Fifty Shades of Grey’has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota [Johnson] and Jamie [Dornan]. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.

NYT: Women in the World interview

Interview0 Comments

Hiris Ali is interviewed for the New York Time Women in the World section. On the book:

I didn’t publish this book so that people would all agree with its contents, but I think it’s going to shift the discussion with both Muslims and non-Muslims, shift the discussion away from where we’re stuck—“Is this Islamic, or is this not Islamic?”—to “Let’s agree that it is Islam,” which is what the reformers do. They’re saying we have problems. And then the next and most urgent question is: “If it’s Islamic, what do we do about it?”

In 2010, I suggested that if you are a good Muslim with a good conscience, go and look for a better God, and I think that was juvenile of me. I shouldn’t have said that, and it just doesn’t work that way for all. But in 2015, I think the perception might be surprising again. I think there’ll be more support within Islam than last time.

On her call to change Islam:

Every single individual in the history of Islam who has proposed meaningful change has been dismissed as a heretic. Mainly silenced. Banished, killed, threatened. One of the points that I discuss is the obligation that every Muslim must command what is right and forbid what is wrong. Innovating the Faith is seen as heretical. But that doesn’t mean that it cannot be changed. If you have a large, meaningful enough crowd who adopt the heresy, then you have reform of Islam.

Hardware could yield $10b startups

Interview0 Comments

In an interview in the Wall Street Journal, Altman says hardware could yield more $10 billion startups, but finding them means looking beyond companies that just want to make “little things that get sold at Best Buy”.

It’s the software-ization of hardware. All the reasons that have made software so successful are beginning to happen with hardware. So much can be done so quickly, prototyped so rapidly, and the costs are so low…The two things I look at most in a startup are cycle time [building a prototype] and cost. When those come down I think an area is now ripe for disruption. And I believe that’s really now happened in hardware.

Flights cancelled

Makes Statement0 Comments

Several Germanwings flights are cancelled after their crews refuse to fly over concerns the crash may have been linked to a repair to the nose-wheel landing doors on Monday, according to an unconfirmed report in Spiegel magazine. Lufthansa denies that there was any link between the repair and the cancelled flights. The airline confirms that the aircraft had been grounded for an hour on Monday for repairs to the nose-wheel landing doors, but insisted the issue was not “safety-related”.

The repair was purely to fix a noise that the door was making, and the aircraft was flying again from 10am on Monday.

Black Box found

Makes Statement0 Comments

French Interior Minister Cazeneuve says a black box has been located at the site in the French Alps where a plane crashed while traveling from Barcelona to Duesseldorf.  Investigators described a scene of devastation where the airliner crashed. Aerial photographs showed smoldering wreckage and a piece of the fuselage with six windows. Bruce Robin, prosecutor for the city of Marseille, says he saw the destruction from a helicopter:

We saw an aircraft that had literally been ripped apart, the bodies are in a state of destruction, there is not one intact piece of wing or fuselage.

French police at the crash site said it will take days to recover the bodies due to difficult terrain, snow and incoming storms.

We are still searching. It’s unlikely any bodies will be airlifted until Wednesday
