Nina Dobrev interview
Nina Dobrev appears on Conan to talk about her show Vampire Diaries. She also teaches O’Brien how to make a sexy vampire face, and demonstrates a yoga move with his help.
Dobrev on making a vampire face:
You have to be vicious and sort of scary, and scare the audience, but then you’re drinking this fake blood, which is actually really disgusting in real life … so you have to sort of look seductive and sexy and yet at the same time scary and mean.
Ears to Ears interview
Aaron Starkie is interviewed by Ears to Ears. On the name of the band:
I remember as I was finishing Junior School we were taken around Senior School and shown all the different class rooms, Science labs and drama room and all that. One of the rooms we saw was called ‘Special needs’ I thought it was really odd that you could be assessed at that age and then be removed from the mainstream of education. The Slow Readers Club is our versions of that, we wanted The Smiths but someone had already used it 🙂
On the lyrics:
Most of the lyrics operate around a similar theme and it basically boils down to a discomfort with established institutions and systems, whether that be a relationship or working a nine-five to afford two holidays a year or buy a better car. Often they are intentionally churlish, to provoke a reaction like in Feet on Fire: “I will regret this decision for a long, long time. You know I only really wanted her for just one night, and now she hunts me down, she hunts me down, she hunts me down, for the rest of my life”
Metta World Peace interview
Metta World Peace appears on Conan and chats with him about his NBA suspension, his desire to play President Obama and his current mix tape project.
Metta on his defensive strategy for the President:
He goes left, just Manny Pacquiao, they both go left. He has no right hand, so I will force him right. And as he shoots the ball, I would not elbow him, first of all. And then I would just swat his shot into the fourth row.
Wired UK cover
Carter is featured on the front cover of Wired UK. The accompanying interview talks about Backplane and Little Monsters, which is in beta and has 50,000 members, with a million invitations ready to be sent out to Lady Gaga fans who had registered online. Carter:
They’re highly motivated fans. This one isn’t for the passive. It’s for the die-hard die-hard. We could go to Facebook for pure numbers. But give us 500,000 really engaged people, and the blast radius will be enormous…Up until this point, we’ve been data dumb. If a kid goes and buys a CD at Best Buy, we have no idea who the person is, how many times they listen to it, or anything like that. But we’re building to the point where one day we’re going to have access to all of the data. There will be a time where we’ll be able to release music through the Backplane, where we’ll be able to release music videos through there, we’re going to be able to sell all our tickets through there. Over a period of time, we’ll be able to build that audience so they’ll know exactly where to come.
She still has a deal with Universal Records. but there will come a time when she’ll release music through her own site. It’s not just going to be about sells. It’s going to be about the streams coming through the site. For us, it’s important to be able to identify who’s listening to what. We want to own that data. We have to own that data…Treating a fan online is no different to treating a fan outside a hotel. They’re not expecting you to walk straight to your car. They want to take that picture, they want to feel that they know you. So when you come to somebody’s profile, and you like a piece of their content, or you compliment them on something that you saw, they remember it.

EA: ‘Cynical bastards’
Notch criticizes game publisher Electronic Arts for calling a collection of its games on Steam an indie bundle, because they are not an “indie” studio:
EA releases an "indie bundle"? That's not how that works, EA. Stop attempting to ruin everything, you bunch of cynical bastards.
— notch (@notch) May 3, 2012
He also clarifies that he does not consider Mojang to be indie either:
Fwiw, I don't even call Mojang inde any more. Vlambeer is indie. Polytron is indie. Stephen, Ed, Terry, Derek, Tommy and Chris are indie.

Shear says Twitch wants to build on 13% month-on-month growth and address other issues like making content more diverse to draw female gamers to the site and broaden demographics. Twitch aims to cross-promote games between channels, for instance promoting Call of Duty on a World of Warcraft channel or retro games and Minecraft streams. On the growth in viewership:
That’s a shift in how people consume media that I think is really interesting.
The Talks interview
Firth gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses the way people approach beauty, grooming and getting dressed, and his regrets.
I am very bad at those questions, I’m afraid, because it means you have to go through you entire life and try to pick something and I cannot possibly do that. Because I am an Englishman I spent most of my life in a state of embarrassment, so it is not really regret. I don’t regret anything very much. Philosophically I suppose I am quite good at believing that things lead you to where you are and that’s the way it is; you live with it and what has happened in the past is unchangeable. I consider myself very lucky in my life so there is nothing I would change really – but I do have a slight tendency to cringe at some of the memories.

You are a wonderful actress.’ And I laughed, screechingly and hysterically, I couldn’t stop. They had to usher me away. I fell apart. I don’t know what happened to me. He looked 9-feet tall.
