Hosts Emmy Awards for the second time

Hosts Show0 Comments

O’Brien hosts the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards for a second time. Held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the show opens with a sketch featuring the host in various TV show situations such as Lost, The Office, 24, and South Park, among others. He also performs a song and dance number about NBC’s dipping ratings to the tune of The Music Man’s song Ya Got Trouble. On the biggest challenge of hosting the Emmys:

To find a way to make it fun. If you do the preparation and you get some good ideas, it’s fun. When I’m having a good time, people say “that was really good.” And that’s key for me. When I’m not having a good time it’s just not as good, it’s not terrible but… That’s the goal for me, to remember that hosting an award show should be fun.

Tucci plays Nigel, a fashion editor, in this comedy directed by David Frankel. Naïve college graduate Andrea Sachs accepts a job as second assistant to Miranda Priestley, the ruthless executive editor of Runway, a fashion magazine. Co-starring Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep.

It is very different worlds. An actor’s world, being an actor so much is about talking and your personality and your variety of personalities. With a model, it’s not that. It’s about image.

I actually thought she was even colder in the script and in the book as well. I think all of us tried to make the characters as dynamic as possible and bring our own take to them.

Everyone makes sacrifices for their job; the movie’s not saying that you don’t have to work hard. The movie is saying that if you’re going to work hard, then make it worth it, believe in what you’re doing. There’s nothing wrong with the fashion industry. What’s wrong is changing yourself for something you don’t really care about just to get somewhere faster. Everyone has limits and Andy discovers what hers are.

One of the things that I admire about her is her willingness to just say directly what she wants, and she has an expectation that she will get it. That is not viewed in our society as an attractive quality in a woman sometimes. People are very intolerant of it.

Beckinsale plays Donna Newman, the wife of ambitious architect Michael Newman, played by Adam Sandler. In this comedy-drama film, Donna is the backbone of the Newman family, as a lost and confused Michael learns the most important lessons in life.

It’s a bit change of pace. I didn’t kill anybody in this movie and I don’t have any magical powers as such. But it’s a comedy, it’s funny, and you care about the characters very, very much.

The Lake House

Film Appearance0 Comments

Bullock plays Kate Forster in this fantasy time-travel romance directed by Alejandro Agresti. Kate is a doctor who moves out of a house by a lake and leaves a note in the mailbox for the next tenant, Alex Wyler, played by Keanu Reeves. He reads the note but doesn’t understand because when he moved into the house, it had been unoccupied for years. In his world, it is 2004, but in hers, it is 2006.  With impossible time and distance between them, they somehow strike up a correspondence and fall in love by leaving notes in that mailbox.

I was looking for a love story, I’ve always wanted to do one and I read it and as soon as I read it, it was like, you know those novels that you read when you were younger and you were absolutely lost in that scenario.

It’s a whole different way of doing a movie, which I thought was really interesting. It was fun, got to play a singing cowboy, me and John C. Reilly. And Garrison Keillor I think is a fascinating guy and really entertaining.

It was amazing. I would look at the call sheet and I would just see these actors that I didn’t believe were coming onto the set every day. It was a wonderful experience and good experience for me as my first independent film. It was nice to be able to sing live, and it’s just one of those movies where it’s always nice to have to look back on. It’s an amazing, monumental film—and cast—in its own way.

I have to say, given the two old men of the sea … I think with age there comes a certain amount of, I don’t know, you’re used to being the center of your universe. It tends to inflate your ego, but I was amazed at how easily they ceded territory to each other. Bob, for the most part, because of the physical part of the production, was out in the audience most of the time, unless we were (filming) backstage. And Garrison, for the most part, was sitting up there on the stage with us the way he does on the real radio show.

I’ve listened to Prairie Home Companion for a very, very long time. Except for one period where he went someplace and we didn’t know where he went. We felt abandoned. Anyway…

I didn’t prepare too much. We just had like three days to get ready and I like to sing. It’s just really fun to sing and I don’t get to much. And at my house I’m not allowed to because your children can’t stand it when you sing. … It’s been hard to wait until everybody’s out of the house because there are a lot of them, and sing. Anyway, I was really glad to be able to do it. It was so much fun, so much fun. Pure joy.

Conrad stars in MTV reality television series The Hills. The Hills is a follow up to the series Laguna Beach MTV aired through 2006. The series follows old characters from Laguna Beach like Lo Bosworth and introduces new cast members including Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.

The Hills is filmed exactly the same as Laguna. So when people started picking out these very little things, it was weird to me because anyone who has worked on a reality show knows how they’re filmed.

The set was awesome. In fact, the set almost takes on a life of its own. The environment and the mood it creates almost become their own character. They become such an ingrained part of the movie
