Fire at Giga Berlin
A fire broke out in an outdoor pile of cardboard and wood at Tesla Gigafactory Berlin. 50 firefighters, including 12 from Giga Berlin’s own fire department, worked to extinguish the fire. Around 800 cubic meters of paper, cardboard, and wood burned. No injuries were reported. Police:
It is being investigated whether shredding work had started the fire.
Ctritics of the factory called for an immediate stop of production:

Hughes’ truck hit by train, fighter taken to hospital
Hughes, a UFC Hall of Famer, who is a two-time welterweight champion who beat GSP, BJ Penn and Royce Gracie, is taken to hospital with serious injuries after his truck is hit by a train. Dana White says Hughes suffered head trauma and his family is on their way out to be with him. He last fought in the UFC in 2011. Hospital statement:

McGregor’s entourage is stopped by traffic police in Liverpool, causing a commotion as fans gather around his Rolls Royce. According to reports, McGregor was not issued a ticket.
Escapes car crash
Teigen escapes unhurt from a hit-and-run car crash near Hollywood. She was seated in a passenger seat of a vehicle that was hit. An unnamed suspect has been arrested by Hollywood division on misdemeanor hit and run.

Gunment kill six, injure eight
Gunmen shoot and kills six people and injures eight others at Quebec City Mosque, Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center at the evening prayer. Witnesses hear shouts of “Allahu akbar” in a Quebecois accents from the masked shooters.
Suspect arrested after device found
A 19-year-old suspect is detained by armed police in Holloway Road, north London, after the discovery of a suspect device on a Tube train. A witness to the teenager’s arrest described him as white, bearded and wearing a hoodie. Witness
The armed police, I think five of them, ran behind him and put him on the floor. They were shouting ‘armed police, don’t struggle’. Everything happened so quick.
The device was destroyed in a controlled explosions. Security has been heightened on the Underground.
Helicopter crash
A helicopter crashes in Siberia, killing 19 of the 22 people on board. The crash was likely caused by flight protocol violations. The regional government calls for a day of mourning.
A criminal probe has been launched but investigators suspect the crash could have been caused by a violation of flight safety regulations, a mechanical problem or poor weather conditions. The helicopter was flying from an oil and gas field in the Siberian region of Krasnoyarsk to the small settlement of Urengoi.
Gunmen kill seven students, professor
At least two gunmen storm classrooms after a suspected car bomb is used to get into the walled complex, and killed seven students and a professor. The death toll could have been far higher, with most students managing to barricade themselves in classrooms or flee to safety, even if it meant breaking bones as they jumped from the second floor of a building. There has been no claim of responsibility for the raid.
Myanmar 6.8 quake
A 6.8 magnitude earthquake hits Myanmar just south of the ancient city of Bagan, a major tourist destination. The quake, which struck at a depth of 84 kilometres, swayed high-rise buildings in the Thai capital of Bangkok.
Italy quake kills at least 38
A strong earthquake in mountainous central Italy kills at least 38 people. The quake causes serious damage to a number of towns and villages, but did not seem to have hit heavily populated areas.
One dead in car bomb
A large car bomb explodes outside a hotel in Thailand’s insurgency-plagued southern region, killing one and wounding more than 30 people, some of them critically. Police commander:

22 dead in Turkey wedding suicide bomb
At least 50 people are killed and dozens more wounded latein an attack possibly carried out by a suicide bomber on a wedding party in the Turkish city of Gaziantep near the Syrian border. A senior security official says the device used was the same type as those employed in the July 2015 suicide attack in the border town of Suruc and the October 2015 suicide bombing of a rally of pro-Kurdish activists in Ankara. Reports say the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber aged between 12 and 14. Turkey’s foreign minister:

82,000 flee California wildfire
Governor Brown declares a state of emergency as a rapidly spreading fire raging east of Los Angeles forces the evacuation of more than 82,000 people. Despite the efforts of 1,250 firefighters with more on the way, the fire has not been contained.
Eight dead, flooded in Louisiana
The death toll from historic flooding in Louisiana climbs to eight, as the expanding flood zone prompts authorities to declare disasters in 20 parishes of the state. While flooding receded in parts of southern Louisiana, other areas saw rising waters. The National Weather Service issued renewed flood warnings. 40,000 homes have been impacted by the floods and more than 8,000 people were in shelters. More than 20,000 have been rescued or evacuated. Soldiers, policeman killed in ambush
Two soldiers and one policeman are killed in India-held Kashmir when an unknown number of gunmen open fire on two army trucks and a police car travelling through Baramulla west of the region’s main city of Srinagar. Security forces launched a major search for the militants who fled the scene.
33 killed in bus crash
At least 33 people are killed when a passenger bus skids off the road and falls more than 300 metres down a hill in Nepal. More than 35 passengers were injured. Official:
Bodies are scattered all over the sloppy hill, so security personnel are having difficulties collecting bodies and rescuing the victims. It is a narrow, gravel road. We are looking into the possibility of overcrowding of the bus being the cause of accident. We can come to a final conclusion only after the investigation is over.
7000 people rescued
Emergency workers rescue more than seven thousand residents stranded in homes and cars during the flood. Rescue crews work through the night and into the day.
Terminal evacuated after shots reported
Police evacuate the Terminal at JFK airport in New York after Port Authority. Police received a call of shots fired in the departures area. There are currently no injuries, no arrests and no confirmation of shots fired.
43 drown off Greek coast
At least 43 migrants drown when their wooden sailboat capsizes on the voyage from Turkey to Europe. 17 of the dead are children. Greek Coast Guard officials are unclear as to why the boat sank off the coast of Kalymnos, but say that winds were strong at the time. Fishing vessels take part in search and rescue operations. One local fisherman, Michalis, seemed shocked by the migrants’ equipment.
