Most of my books become political because of what is going on in our society. There is a lot going on that people are not even aware of and since I am an entertainer I see it as my duty to make readers aware of what is going on through my books.

Sweetgreen was born when we were still students. The three of us really bonded over the fact that there was something missing in our life — we had nowhere healthy to eat. . . . We wanted to create something healthy, that was fun. Wouldn’t it be cool if there was someplace that did our values. We shared this passion for creating something and we just decided to close our eyes and do it.

I don’t have a favorite but I do have a favorite thing about each of my books. Secret Society is my baby. It’s my first novel, my breakout debut. It’s the book that put me on the map and garnered me a lot of hard-to-get press. I love the characters in it because they are so authentic and lead a very intriguing life. Diary of a Mistress is the book that solidified me as a bonifide author.
Sleeping With Strangers
Dickey follows a hit man name Gideon in the book Sleeping With Strangers. He’s a man who lives off the grid, drifting along while making love on the run. His lovers don’t know what he really does for a living but there is something intriguing about him. Gideon is broken hearted and looking for revenge. But like everything else, it comes with a price.
A lot of other writers of characters who are hit men, you know, so for me it was just an extension of trying to find a different character based on what I’ve done before. You know, I’ve done con man. I’ve done grifters. I’ve done engineers. I I’ve done stand-up comics. And so for me, Gideon was just this perfect character for this particular type of story that I was craving to do. How much of Gideon do you want, you know.
