Wrestling101.com interview

Van Dam gives his thoughts about what influenced him to become a professional wrestler:

I started watching wrestling through WrestleMania and for WrestleMania II I actually watched in an arena and paid to watch it on a screen. Hulk Hogan was the man, but I was a big Ultimate Warrior fan. Some of the guys that caught my attention weren’t necessarily the main focus, I liked ‘Leaping’ Lenny Poffo a lot because he would do flying headbutts and moonsults, when other guys wouldn’t even leave their feet and that caught my imagination.

Globe & Mail interview

Branson tells the Globe and Mail that he wants brothels to be legalized, licensed and taxed, and an end to the practice of slicing the fins off sharks for shark soup and discarding the fish to die. He hopes marijuana sales will be legalized and taxed to fund social programs such as treatment centres for hard-drug users, and sees Portugal’s drug laws as an example:

In the last 10 years, they have not sent one person to prison for taking drugs and HIV infections have dropped by 50 per cent. They give out clean needles, they build treatment centres, marijuana use among young people has declined and society has saved a lot of money

Williams undergoes a beauty make-under for XOJane. During the make-under Williams talks about why people think she was born a man and why she wears wigs full time.

When I take it down my natural hair, it barely covers my head. People always want to know what it’s like. It’s a good texture, just thin. I wash and tuck.

Albright is interviewed for the PBS Makers series. She talks about her life and political career.

Women are very lucky in many ways, because our life does come in segments. Some of it broken up  by the time to have children, or have a career. So I think that women can do everything, they just can’t do it all at the same time.

The Talks interview

Hawke gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses what he expected the film business would be like, selling out, and whether he will be in the film business forever.

I don’t know. It’s been a lot harder than I thought it was going to be to make the films I really dream of making. I was in Italy a few years ago scouting for this very beautiful film I wanted to make with Richard Linklater. We worked really hard on the script for a couple of years and couldn’t get the money together. It was an expensive idea. It’s heartbreaking when that happens over and over again and then the movies that do get made are ones that have lots of women being beaten up or zombies being killed.

Ion is a guest on The Art of Wrestling to discuss TNA, becoming a wrestler and being on television.

It’s not like there’s a system to develop you for the television style of wrestling. I went right from the indy scene to national television.

Claims Guinness denied world record

White claims the Guinness Book of World Records denied The White Stripes’ record for shortest concert in history for its 2007 show.

The thing is, though, that the Guinness book is a very elitist organisation. There’s nothing scientific about what they do. They just have an office full of people who decide what a record is and what isn’t. Most of the records in there – who has the biggest collection of salt-and-pepper shakers or whatever – are just whatever they want them to be.

Raising a young Black man is very different. We have tought him to be respectful to adults, and if they step out of line, let us handle it. We tell him you don’t speak with your hands in your pocket. You’re a black man. People will assume you have a gun, not a permission slip.

Ulrich talks about filming the Metallica video St. Anger in San Quentin Prison:

Very intimidating—trust me. It’s surreal being inside San Quentin and looking out at the surrounding area where every morning I drive my kids to school. I now know which chimney is the exhaust pipe from the gas chamber. It’s truly, truly bizarre.

Andy Cohen interview

Williams interviews Andy Cohen and talks about why he lied to Oprah.

I had worked at CBS news for 10 years. I am the biggest Oprah fan, huge. So she was coming into the studio to tape an interview to post tape an interview after the show. I had tried to also get her to do a separate interview for a series I was doing about talk show queens of the day. Then her people politely declined. I kept asking and they kept declining. I am so crazy and my mouth has gotten me into so much trouble. So during the interview I just say keep rolling the tape we will do the second interview. I lied to Oprah. People are asking what are you doing. I’m like I don’t know whats going on? Later that day I get a phone call in my office It’s Oprah.

Lynn is a guest on The Art of Wrestling to discuss wrestling and retirement from a full time schedule.

I wish I could do it forever but I can’t. My body is telling me enough is enough. The doctor who did my surgery highly suggested I quit wrestling … that was a good six or seven years ago.

Nina Dobrev appears on Conan to talk about her show Vampire Diaries. She also teaches O’Brien how to make a sexy vampire face, and demonstrates a yoga move with his help.

Dobrev on making a vampire face:

You have to be vicious and sort of scary, and scare the audience, but then you’re drinking this fake blood, which is actually really disgusting in real life … so you have to sort of look seductive and sexy and yet at the same time scary and mean.

Ears to Ears interview

Aaron Starkie is interviewed by Ears to Ears. On the name of the band:

I remember as I was finishing Junior School we were taken around Senior School and shown all the different class rooms, Science labs and drama room and all that. One of the rooms we saw was called ‘Special needs’ I thought it was really odd that you could be assessed at that age and then be removed from the mainstream of education. The Slow Readers Club is our versions of that, we wanted The Smiths but someone had already used it 🙂

On the lyrics:

Most of the lyrics operate around a similar theme and it basically boils down to a discomfort with established institutions and systems, whether that be a relationship or working a nine-five to afford two holidays a year or buy a better car. Often they are intentionally churlish, to provoke a reaction like in Feet on Fire: “I will regret this decision for a long, long time. You know I only really wanted her for just one night, and now she hunts me down, she hunts me down, she hunts me down, for the rest of my life”

Metta on his defensive strategy for the President:

He goes left, just Manny Pacquiao, they both go left. He has no right hand, so I will force him right. And as he shoots the ball, I would not elbow him, first of all. And then I would just swat his shot into the fourth row.

Shear says Twitch wants to build on 13% month-on-month growth and address other issues like making content more diverse to draw female gamers to the site and broaden demographics. Twitch aims to cross-promote games between channels, for instance promoting Call of Duty on a World of Warcraft channel or retro games and Minecraft streams. On the growth in viewership:

That’s a shift in how people consume media that I think is really interesting.

The Talks interview

Firth gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses the way people approach beauty, grooming and getting dressed, and his regrets.

I am very bad at those questions, I’m afraid, because it means you have to go through you entire life and try to pick something and I cannot possibly do that. Because I am an Englishman I spent most of my life in a state of embarrassment, so it is not really regret. I don’t regret anything very much. Philosophically I suppose I am quite good at believing that things lead you to where you are and that’s the way it is; you live with it and what has happened in the past is unchangeable. I consider myself very lucky in my life so there is nothing I would change really – but I do have a slight tendency to cringe at some of the memories.

The Talks interview

50 Cent gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses how he was a better drug dealer, why time is precious, and his different image.

The guy that has on athletic inspired clothing might be someone that you could point to and say, “That’s hip-hop.” The baseball hat, the different things, the do-rag, I suppose could be something you would identify with me as an artist. When you start to dress with more casual clothing or more professional clothing, like a suit, people start wondering. The jewelry I think comes from not having. From not having, you aspire to live life on the highest level possible. When you start off not even being able to fantasize about buying your own car, you buy one as soon as you’re able to.
