Huckabee refuses to apologize for his remark that Obama’s support of Iran deal is like the holocaust for Israel. He says the remark is appropriate since Iran has called for the destruction of Israel and would carry it out should they develop a nuclear weapon.

Isis-free zone
Turkey and the US have agreed on the outlines of a plan to drive Islamic State out of a strip of land along the Turkish-Syrian border, in a landmark deal that will draw Turkey further into Syria’s civil war and looks likely to increase the intensity of the U.S. air war against Isis. The YPG accuses Turkey of targeting its fighters inside Syria as they laid siege to Isis-held positions close to another key border crossing, the town of Jarabulus.
Stand For Reality ad
Clinton unveils her some of her climate change agenda, along with a video titled, Stand for Reality. In the video she talks over quotes about climate change by Jeb Bush, Rand Paul and Donald Trump.
It’s hard to believe there are people running for president who still refuse to accept the settled science of climate change, who would rather remind us they’re not scientists than listen to those who are. You don’t have to be scientist to take on this urgent challenge that threatens us all. You just have to be willing to act. Clinton also outlines two positions she will take if she wins: to have more than half a billion solar panels installed across the country by the end of her first term, and to have the U.S. generate enough clean renewable energy to power every home in America within 10 years.

Ends ban on gay scout leaders
The organization votes to end its ban on openly gay scout leaders with approval of 79 percent of the board. Scouting units can still reject gay applicants if it violates the unit’s religious beliefs.
The best way to allow BSA to continue to focus on its mission and preserve its core values, was to address the issue and set our own course, and that’s what we’ve done. On Monday, July 27th the national executive board ratified a resolution removing the national restriction on openly gay leaders and employees. This follows the recommendation of the national executive committee which adopted the resolution earlier in July.
‘She was an angel’

Outside attorneys to aid death probe
The Waller County prosecutor investigating Bland’s death says outside attorneys will help with the probe, which likely will go to a county grand jury in August. A former prosecutor and a defense attorney, and a Houston attorney will lead a review committee in asking the “hard questions.” Prosecutor:

In the ’60s, when the first alleged assault by Cosby occurred, rape was considered to be something violent committed by a stranger … But among younger women, and particularly online, there is a strong sense now that speaking up is the only thing to do, that a woman claiming her own victimhood is more powerful than any other weapon in the fight against rape.
Huckabee’s comment ‘ridiculous…so sad’
While speaking at a press conference in Ethiopia, Obama speaks about comments on Huckabee’s comments, and others made by GOP leaders and 2016 Presidential candidates.
It would be ridiculous it it weren’t so sad…We’ve had a sitting senator call John Kerry Pontius Pilate. We’ve had a sitting senator, who also happens to be running for president, suggest that I’m the leading state sponsor of terrorism. These are leaders in the Republican Party. Politicians can have serious political differences, but we just don’t fling out ad hominem attacks like that, because it doesn’t help inform the American people. We’re creating a culture that is not conducive to good policy, or good politics. I want to make sure I’m turning over the keys to someone who’s serious about the problems the country faces and the world faces.

Airport is sinking
Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s new $1 billion budget passenger terminal is sinking, with cracks appearing in the taxiway and water forming pools that planes must drive through. The defects could cause flight delays, increase wear and tear on planes and pose potential safety risks. Though take offs and landings aren’t affected, the carrier has asked Malaysian authorities to fix the problems before passengers get hurt. AirAsia CEO:
The airport is still sinking, The operator, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd. has done some partial resurfacing, but what the airport actually needs is a permanent solution.
Since MH370, a lot of shortcomings have been found in Malaysia’s aviation infrastructure. The authorities haven’t done enough to address these shortcomings, not enough to put them on par with the First World.
To be buried alongside mother
A family source says Kristina’s funeral service this week in Atlanta, Ga., her body will be flown to New Jersey where she will be buried alongside her mother in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey.
Urges press freedom in Ethiopia
Obama urges Ethiopia’s leaders to curb crackdowns on press freedom and political openness as he begins a visit that human rights groups say legitimizes an oppressive government. Obama’s trip marks the first visit by a sitting U.S. president to Ethiopia, a fast-growing economy once defined by poverty and famine.

Admits army under pressure
Assad says the Syrian army has been forced to give up areas in order to hold onto more important ones in its fight with insurgents, and the scale of the war means the military faces a manpower shortage.
Sometimes, in some circumstances, we are forced to give up areas to move those forces to the areas that we want to hold onto. We must define the important regions that the armed forces hold onto so it doesn’t allow the collapse of the rest of the areas…Everything is available (for the army), but there is a shortfall in human capacity, Mr Assad said. Despite that, I am not presenting a dark picture.
Assad says increased support from states backing the rebels is the reason for recent setbacks and dismisses the view that Syria is heading towards partition into areas run separately by the Damascus government and armed groups fighting him. He says amnesty for men at home and abroad who have dodged military service will encourage thousands of conscripts who want to join the army but hold back because of penalties.
